Dave Walker

[Blue Horizon]

Just to inform you all that Dave has a new cd out ( His first for thirteen years ) titled 'Mostly Sonny-A tribute to Sonny Boy Williamson'. Here is the info which I found on the Yardbirds web site.

The first ever tribute to legendary bluesman Sonny Boy Willamson!
Featuring the voice of the mighty Dave Walker. Many consider Dave to be THE voice of Savoy Brown. Even the most casual fan of Savoy Brown will know Dave's voice from their most popular albums 'Street Corner Talkin' 'Hellbound Train' and 'Lions Share'

This is Dave's first album in 13 years and is well worth the wait! Blues Rock that's not over the top! This aint no Aerosmith blues album, baby. This is the real deal.

Dave is joined by a stellar cast of British bluesmen:

Nigel Watson & Roger Cotton (from Peter Green's Splinter Group)
Don Craine & Keith Grant (Downliners Sect)
Ray Majors (Yardbirds/Mott)
Mick Avory (The Kinks)
and Savoy Brown co-founder John O'Leary

additional musicians: Alan Brooks & Chris Hunt on drums

Russ Garrett-background vocals

Recorded at Roundel Studio, Kent, UK
Executive Producer-Russ Garrett
Produced by Don Craine, Keith Grant, and Roger Cotton
Mooreland Street Records, LLC would like to thank:
Chuck Hutsler
Tim Pratt
Jason Roberts

A Very Special Thank You to Arnie Goodman of Bluestorm Music for putting me in touch with Dave Walker in the first place.

And thanks to my guru: Sir Woodrow Wilson Sanderson Dekle

Dave Walker may reunite with other former members of Savoy Brown to tour the Northeast. Stay tuned!

Interesting to see Nigel and Roger backing him. No doubt they need the money pending the court case against Peter Green!
You can hear some good sound clips of all the songs on the cd by going to the web site http://www.yardbirds.us/pages/1/index.htm and scrolling down to the news on Dave.

Thanks very much for posting this information Blue Horizon, I never would've come across this otherwise, I'm definitely going to get it! :)

This is Dave's first album in 13 years

Um, when they say this, I assume they mean (they think) it's the first album in 13 years he's been on (as oppossed to solo album)?

I say "they think" because he's been on some Donovan's Brain recordings since then (among other things) so that's not really correct.

If no, then PLEASE do elaborate (what the "last solo album" was called etc.)! I need it! :)

Thanks in advance. :)

John
