Bombay Saphires is a modern classic if you ask me and since Stevie produced it all by herself, what is stopping her from producing an entire album by herself?

I have a feeling that Stevie doesn't have the patience to produce an entire album on her own, nor the confidence.
I think she tends to feel more confident when she has someone to collaborate with, and it seems that she prefers when the responsibility isn't entirely on her head.
But I agree that she did a wonderful job producing "Bombay Sapphires" (though there are certainly naysayers. As usual). :)

Bombay Saphires is a modern classic if you ask me and since Stevie produced it all by herself, what is stopping her from producing an entire album by herself?Stevie should produce an entire album by herself. She's been in the music business for thirty or thirty-five years, so why shouldn't she challenge herself & use technology in a way she's rarely used it before to express her vision? I don't think she's in any danger of becoming the world's greatest producer, but it's probably high time she learned more about music & technology, & you can't deny that producing an entire album would be an advanced course in effects & processing, digital vs. analog, arrangements, song structure & instrumentation for her.
It would prove an interesting challenge for Stevie, & it may even result in a serendipitous surprise or two -- maybe her next hit would be a self-produced track. Further, it would increase her colleagues' admiration & pride in her.
I say, Go for it, Stevie. Stop dabbling in the production of your albums. Beef up your participation. BE the one who sticks around at the tail end of a Fleetwood Mac or Stevie Nicks album in order to complete a mix, instead of the one in Hawaii. I'd totally support Stevie's efforts in this direction.

I think she did a great job on Bombay Sapphires, but to take care of the whole album production could be quite a physical and emotional burden for anyone. By the way, I hope she will find for her next solo a bright producer that would give her confidence enough to produce some (hopefully many :D) of the tracks by herself and co-produce the rest of it.

I hope she does, mainly because it would make the album 100% Stevie. I don't think we know how incredible that would be seeing as how we haven't been exposed to that yet. I really wish she would, but I doubt it though. Which in the end is fine, considering how Stevie can rock hardcore without being behind production too. :)

It would be great, but highly unlikely.
I think for her next album, she should write all the songs by herself AND produce the album by herself. Or at least write all the songs by herself, like Loretta Lynn did on her latest, "Van Lear Rose." An entirely self-written album would be a real statement of identity and purpose.
What's more, now that her songwriting chops are back up to near-1970s standards, I think it'd be a great album!

I thought John Shanks was great. I looove Bombay Sapphires too. When I get stressed out I hear that lyric in my head: I can see past you to the white sand...

I don't think she will. It would be interesting if she did though. She did a good job with 'Bombay Saphires'.

I don't know... by his own admission, producing his own albums has sure tested Lindsey's sanity pretty often!

I also thought John Shanks was great, especially on Trouble in Shangri-La, Fall From Grace, and POTU, IMO. Hope he would work with her again, sooner or later. Moreover, he is cute. ;)

Bombay Saphires is just an AMAZING song and one of 3 highlights from TISL. Fall From Grace and TISL are the other 2 amazing tracks from TISL. So I have all the confidence in the world of a Stevie produced album becuase she's great at it from what I can tell.

It would never happen. I don't think she has the confidence. She was going to 86 "Fall From Grace" because her producer didn't know what to do. She wrote it, she has the essence of the song inside her, she could've done it. BUT - she only put her foot down once others told her how great it was. She lacks confidence.

John Shanks reminds me of someone that I know but I can't think of who. He has one of those faces. He seems like a truly nice guy.

I know, I'm suprised she hasn't wanted to before...Heck, I want to learn it! But i'm kinda scared for her to do it, too. It seems unless she's pushed to "Rock out" she might not do it... :(

i agree with what everyone is saying... it would be interesting to see stevie produce an entire album by herself... but to be honest....
when you bring the whole hawaii thing into it... verses staying back and spending MORE hours in the studio.... hell.... hawaii wins. hands down. :]

I don't think Stevie has that type of talent and vision to be a producer. Usually, most producers have to possess a certain level of mechanical talent when it comes to instrumentation.
Besides, I think Stevie needs someone out there to keep her on planet Earth, if you know what I mean. An all-Stevie writing, all-Stevie singing (and the ladies, of course), Stevie producing album would be sliding into the land of extremely self-indulgent.
I mean, c'mon, if she couldn't even come up with the bridge for "Kind of Woman" and "Think About It" on her own, how the hell would she be able to go to the next level and actually produce something?
Conceptual, Stevie is- follow-through, Stevie is NOT.
