Lawrence J. Korb, Assistant Secretary of Defense for Manpower, Reserve Affairs, Installations and Logistics under Ronald Reagan from 1981-1985, confirmed RAW STORY's legal analysis of President Bush's Guard Service in a telephone call Friday afternoon.

The analysis, which proves that President George W. Bush was absent without leave from the Texas Air National Guard in 1972, is available here: http://www.bluelemur.com/index.php?p=172

Given proof that Bush missed five months of Guard training sessions, he said that Bush would be considered AWOL. "If you don't show up, you're absent without leave, by definition," Korb said.

No more than ten percent of sessions could be missed without them being made up, he asserted, confirming RAW STORY's findings. He added that President Bush should have been mandated to serve active duty if he missed even two months of service in a fiscal year -- 24 months of active duty minus the amount of active duty already served. For Bush, this would have amounted to 113 days. How this number was divined can be seen here: http://www.bluelemur.com/index.php?p=173

<snip>

He has written more than 100 editorials in major publications, including the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal and the Washington Post, and has appeared more than a thousand times as a commentator on television on shows such as Larry King Live, Good Morning America and The O'Reilly Factor.

RAW STORY plans to bring President Bush's AWOL research to its full conclusion Monday, when Korb is able to review Bush's payroll records.

:blob1: Just more confirmation for what we already know.

Speaking of Reagan, have you seen what Nancy said? Her spokesman just said that the Reagan family does not support Bush's bid for re-election. ;)

Of course not, because the Republicans of today don't belong to the same Party Ronald Reagan did, so says Ron, Jr. ;) Michael probably supports Bush, though.

Wonder if Nancy's stance has to do with stem cell research? I doubt it is something Reagan would support. He wouldn't even support tissue research in the early 80s.

The Reagans NEVER liked the Bush family; Ronald didn't even like Bush Sr.

Michael isn't even a Reagan and goes on the talk show circuit to complain about the Reagans. He's a whiney brat and makes himself look like the bottom-feeder that he is. I'll never forget when Ronald Reagan went to campaign at Michael's school and Reagan didn't even recognize Michael. "Who are you?" "I'm your son."

Michael's not a Reagan, but he's more like his father than Ron or Patti are, IMHO. Personally, I thought the Reagans treated him appallingly at Reagan's funeral.

As far as Nancy goes, the only thing I've ever admired about her was her devotion to her husband. I don't think she cared about anyone but her and Ronald, and that includes her kids.

That's actually really sad. Why didn't he recognize him?

 Part of the reason he didn't get along with his father was because his father thought Michael was too far to the right.

It wasn't just the living Reagans who treated him "badly," his father couldn't stand him, especially after he publicly blamed him and Nancy for supposedly being molested. Then he went on a talk show in '87 and said that Nancy was evil incarnate who put a hex on him. Didn't exactly help his relationship with his daddy.

Sorry, but to defend Michael in any way for the way he gets treated is just absurd. He trashed that family mercilessly and then cashed in on having the Reagan anme by writing tell-alls and hosting a hateful talk show.

The feud between the Bushes and the Reagans is heavily documented. Try Google, there's lots there.

Read Michael Reagan's traitorous book and you'll think that's even sadder. No wonder the Reagans practically disowned him (and Nancy will probably disinherit him!).

Oh, I'm fully aware of Michael and Reagan's strained relationship. But wasn't Reagan estranged from all of his kids? I doubt Reagan was too proud of Patti for her Playboy spread and penning all those bondage sex stories.

Sorry, but I think Ron is the jerk here. His father is probably rolling over in his grave because Ron spoke at the DNC. Without that name, he wouldn't be near any political convention. And to use that name to promote something Reagan almost assuredly would have opposed, well....

Nancy supports it. And according to Ron, if Nancy supported it, then so would Ronnie.
Ron has the right to speak at any convention he pleases. He agreed that both he and the Dems were getting what they wanted out of his speech.

He was never estranged from Ron or Patti, actually. Michael was the only one. ;)

I fail to see how Ron is the jerk. If he's invited to speak, he has every right to do it. Just because his father was a right-winger, it doesn't mean he has to be one or have to adhere to the rules of the right-wingers. And there is no evidence whatsoever to base the assumption that Reagan would have opposed stem-cell research. ****, Reagan supported abortions and apssed abortion legislation when he was governor. Michael is the jerk for airing his dirty laundry in public. It's simply low class to come out in public and blame your parents for molestation that you allege happened. And then to make the "he's her favorite" comments makes you look even more like an ass.

If you want to talk about using the Reagan name, ask yourself whether or not Michael would have his own radio show if his last name wasn't Reagan. The guy was a drunk and never held down a job until he was in his late thirties.

Of course he has the "right" to speak at any convention he chooses, but it was still classless of him. He and his sister didn't even show up to the arrival of the USS Reagan.

I really believe Reagan would be against stem cell research, but I have no way of proving that, obviously.

We're not getting anywhere here.

Come on, surely you are not claiming Reagan was a leading proponent of women's rights, are you? Bush, Sr. served on the Planned Parenthood board, and I don't think you'd label him as a pro-choice politician today, would you?

Ron never mentions that Alzheimer's research is the least promising with stem cell research. I don't understand why they can't use umbilical cells, instead of cloning embryos, but that's getting off subject. ;)

That's because he feels it's a weapon of mass destruction and he doesn't support having his father's name on a WMD. Once again, his right.

Then please explain to me why Reagan passed pro-choice legislation. I'm waiting. And Babs Bush is as pro-choice as they come. ;)

And you don't mention the reason that Alzheimer's research is the least promising is because they just began in-depth research on it about a year ago and haven't gotten far because of budget constraints and loss of funding. ;) Keep the playing field leveled, darling. How are we to know how promising it is if the research is not being funded? C'mon.

As for your classless comment, it mystifies me. Micahel is the epitome of classless. "It was their fault I was molested! They don't love me!"
