Any simpsons fans here? It's my favorite show of all time! What about you? Any favortie episodes, characters, quotes?
My favortie character is Homer! He's so dumb!
I can't think of my favorite quote off the top of my head but heres one..
Homer: Are you saying you're never going to eat any animal again? What about bacon?
Lisa: No.
Homer: Ham?
Lisa: No.
Homer: Pork chops?
Lisa: Dad, those all come from the same animal.
Homer: Heh heh heh. Ooh, yeah, right, Lisa. A wonderful, magical animal.

of course! watch it every day, super favorite. I had simpsons quotes in my sig. for quite awhile. "Bacon up that sausage, boy"
One of my very favorite episodes is the one where it's 3 different classic stories out of a book they're reading. Homer is Ulysses ("Hey, Grease IS the word!") Lisa is Joan of Arc, and Bart is Hamlet. I also like the one where they show the montage of a bunch if Homer's songs (Maaaaaax Poower...it's the name you'd love to tooouuuch...but you musn't TOOOOUUUUCCHHH...) OMigod, and the one where Homer gets prescription marijuana when his eyes get pecked out by his pet crows (Hume Crownyn, Cameron Crow, Gregory Peck, etc :D ) "objects may appear more edible than they are" is on the prescription bottle! Those are just a few that come to mind, i like tons...

I hardly watch it, but the show touches on so much of what I teach (for real) that students tell me every week that they suddenly understand references on the show for the first time. Quite a selling point.

Great show, I've watched it from the start. Fave quotes (all Ralphie Wiggum)

"Me fail English? That's un-possible!"

"Mrs. Crabapple? I ate all my paste!"

"I found a moonrock - in my nose."

"You choo-choo-choose me?"

Oh, wait a couple from Homer:

"For sale! Tram-opp-a-line! Tram-opp-a-line!" One of the best episodes ever, all those kids injured on the trampoline laying around like casualties of war - priceless!

Singing: "I am so smart, I am so smart, S-M-R-T, I mean S-M-A-R-T!"

I'm a huge Simpsons fan, and I love that Matt Groening is a FM/Stevie fan!

One of my favorite Ralph lines "I sleep in a drawer!"

I love the crank calls to Moe's - "Amanda Hugnkiss? I need Amanda Hugnkiss!"

My new email sound at work is "Woo-hoo!" It used to be "Mmmmm....64 slices of American cheese...aaaaaahhhh." I have a Maggie figurine on top of my computer.

Anyone see the cast on Inside the Actor's Studio? Anyone notice that they never showed Julie Kavner on camera when she was doing Marge?

The Simpsons is my absolute favorite show of all time! My favorite episodes are probably Simpsoncalifragilisticexpiala(ANNOYED GRUNT)cious and The President Wore Pearls.

Favorite Quotes:
(From A Streetcar Named Marge)
Ms. Sinclair: Marge, do you know what a baby is saying when she reaches for a bottle?
Marge: Baba?
Ms. Sinclair: No! She's saying "I am a leach!"

(From Flaming Moe's?)
Marge: Well Homer maybe you can take some consolation in the fact that something you created is making people happy.
Homer: Oh, look at me - I'm making people happy! I'm the magical man, from happy land, in a gum drop house on lollypop lane! [door slam - Homer comes back] Oh by the way I was being sarcastic.
Marge: Well Duh!

I can't remember what these ones are from...
Homer: And I gave that man directions, even though I didn't know the way, cuz that's the kind of guy I am.

Bart: Look at the sunset!
Lisa: That's not a sunset, it's a bird on fire!
*I might have screwed that one up*

Homer: [not remembering that it's Valentines Day] Is it bacon day?

Gotta love the FM references too! When Bart loses it from too much Focusin, he steals a tank and as he's smashing things, he's singing Don't Stop. They should get them to do a guest spot on the show! How funny would that be.

My dad told me about that one (I have no cable) and he said the guy who does Homer's voice was a little snootish, separate from the rest, and to quote my dad "you could tell he had a big head and thought he was better than the others" Did you notice anything like that?

Bugs was my favorite thing in the world. From age 3-6, I would tape ears to my head and pretend to be him. (This was at vacation at my Grandma's, we didn't have a TV at home) I actually thought, at those ages, and said, that i wanted to be Bugs Bunny when i grew up (or a cat). You know how they tell you you can be anything you want when you grow up? I always loved them, and thought they were the cutest thing, and the best animal. The way they play is so funny, and they're fast and can jump. Also, who WOULDN'T want to be one? It's like not liking...uh, something it's weird not to like  My favorite cat is really loyal and loving, he guards the door, he can fetch a paper ball, and is also an excellent goalie/shortstop with said paper ball. He can jump in the air, catch it between his paws, and put it in his mouth before he drops to the ground. :) awww, just like his mommie :D But, I guess it's stupid to argue, some people just don't care for cats...rock on.

They don't smell nearly as much as dogs. Also, and this is a biggie, CATS ARE FINE IF YOU'RE GONE ALL DAY, OR EVEN FOR WEEKS, as long as someone feeds them! Dogs get all lonely and needy, and you have to walk them. I love dogs a lot, but i'm thinking....if i want that level of commitment, i might as well have a baby! Also, about how they scratch - dogs can tear up furniture, etc, waaaay worse than cats. If you're talking about scratching you, cats don't really do that unless provoked. Also, one of my cats is veeery affectionate, though as a general rule, they are not as constantly affectionate as dogs. :wavey:

"They don't do what you say" or "They don't come when you call them", which leads me to think these are the things most valued by boys in a companion - something you can control, and that will kiss your ass...goodness forbid something doesn't...come when you call it! *gasp* or ....do what you say!!! boys? arguments? Ah but when you keep them indoors, you simply have to get creative with keeping them amused! I'm not trying to be preachy, but after seeing my poor babies die, at ages 3 weeks, 6 months, 8 months, 13 months and 2 years old, I completely and totally changed my tune about let cats roam outdoors unsupervised. I do let Gypsy go outside under one condition. I sit on my deck and watch her to ensure that she doesn't jump the fence.

FIV is Feline AIDS, a whole different disease from FeLV (feline leukemia). Both are deadly, both are contracted from contact with infected cats. Of course, then there is also FIP, yet ANOTHER deadly disease, for which there is no effective vaccine. It sucks, but cats are just much safer indoors.

And really, Amber, I'm not trying to tell you you're wrong, but it's a subject I'm pretty passionate about. No offense intended.

Today's lesson on feline leukemia (I'm sure you're sorry you said anything):

It is a viral disease for which there is no cure. It is transmitted by mainly blood contact with another infected cat. It can be transmitted through saliva, but that is not as common. It is also transmitted from a pregnant mother to her kittens (which is my case). A cat can live with feline leukemia for years before becoming symptomatic, but that is not really very common. The most common cause of death from the leukemia is that the cat has a suppressed immune system (similar to HIV in humans) and will contract a secondary infection which the cat has no ability to fight and therefore dies.

Kittens who are born with FeLV seldom live to adulthood, as I witnessed firsthand. Gypsy is now 3 and because she did survive kittenhood has a fair chance of living a reasonably normal lifespan. But she could become symptomatic at any time. Once that happens, there isn't a damn thing I can do for her other than have her euthanized. It's really a horrific disease, even if you don't like cats. So you see, Jake, she is very special. :)
