What seating do you prefer?

In a movie theater, I like to sit in the middle.

At a play, I like the aisle.

In a classroom or lecture, I like the back - hate having people behind me - my last initial is at the end of the alphabet, so I guess that started early when teachers would seat us alphabetically.

On a plane, as we've discussed, I like an aisle seat near the front.

In a restaurant, I like a corner, or by a window. Never near the kitchen or waiting area. I can do booths as long as they're comfortable - some booth seats make you sink & the table is up high.

Incidentally, anybody else grow up with the family station wagon, riding in the back-back?

Where do you plant yourselves?

Hmm...never thought about that one...

In a classroom, either up front or near the front....otherwise I'm prone to not pay attention at all...being up front makes me a little more aware of what I need to be doing.
--Also, I like to sit in the same place every time haha...I was one of those people...I had "my" seat in all my classes...and would get there early to make sure I got it...a little obsessive but hey...that's me...

In a theater (movie) I like the middle....

In a theater (play space) I like middle as near the stage as possible...

IN a plane - it's gotta be window....

In a restaurant...anywhere as long as it's not by a bathroom, the kitchen, or a screaming child.

In the movies, I have to be sitting in the middle and usually, if possible, i'll sit toward the back because I hate people putting their feet on the back of my seat.

At a play/musical, the aisle is the best but being in the center section doesn't bother me. When I was younger, we went to see The Nutcracker. We were in a balcony by ourselves and a pole obstructed our views. I ended up falling asleep. Had we been sitting elsewhere, maybe I would have found it more interesting.

In a classroom it depending on the subject, I like to sit in the front or all the way in the back. In college during all of my English courses, i'd sit in the front. In my Science/Math courses, I sat way in the back. There were a few professors that had assigned seating so I ended up toward the back.

On a plane I HAVE to be sitting in the aisle seat. I hate the center seat and I don't like the window seat at all.

In a restaurant the window is the best spot. Definately not near the kitchen or around where people are waiting, watching you eat.

When I was little, my mom had a blue Firebird and my dad had a truck. Then they got rid of the Firebird and purchased an SUV (i think they started that trend around here  ). In the SUV, I used to sit in the back sometimes for no apparent reason and when my mom had the Firebird, she used to stick me in the back but sometimes i'd sit up front.

In a movie theater-In the back section near the exit sign, So I can avoid the rush of humanity to the restroom to upchunk my lunch after learning I wasted $8.50 for a movie that utterly sucked so bad it will be released on DVD the following week.

At a play-Don't do plays anymore...Last time I did I was on stage, 'Nuff said

In a classroom or lecture-In the back of the room so I can wear my Walkman and pretend that I am paying attention. Btw, It worked daily from 9th grade through college...And all I had to show was an "A-" grade average.

On a plane-Don't fly...If I EVER did decide to fly, I want a seat on a plane that won't unexpectedly stop into a housing development, A corn field or short of the runway.

In a restaurant-Near a window...

Anybody else grow up with the family station wagon, riding in the back-back?

Sure, Been thrown through the rear window glass of a station wagon during a fatality auto accident...Thus why I will NEVER own a station-wagon.

Movie -- middle
Play -- center stage, enough rows back to see the whole stage
Classroom -- Usually middle rows, toward the back. We had assigned seating, though. Most of my classes now are seminars so we are seated around a table.
Plane -- Window, closer to the front
Restaurant -- By a window or outer wall

How dumb are people who have never seen snow, And even dumber dare to have a snowball fight with someone who can throw consistently in the mid 80's (MPH)? Hitting those Tex-uns was as easy as teaching Rev.Jerry Falwell how to steal from the offering plate on Sunday

At the movies, I like being further towards the very back of the theatre, in the middle of the row, with empty seats in front of me so I can put my feet up.

I like the aisle as well at plays, shows, or sporting events- although if you're on the aisle at a place like Wrigley, you end up being the beer runner for the rest of the aisle, but eh.

In classes, I always preferred further back but still towards the middle. I always have found myself unchallenged in classes and had a tendency to read through all of high school and college, and sitting further back allowed me to do that. If I needed to pay attention, I'd always try to sit more towards the front.

On a plane, I like the aisle, and I don't like being in the back- I want to get off as soon as possible when a plane lands.

And in restaurants, I almost always prefer booths to tables, and away from high-traffic areas like the kitchen, front doors, or restrooms.

Pet Peeves of Movie Seating:
I hate it when people come in late for a movie and stand right next to where I'm sitting while trying to find a seat and loudly asking their friends "is this alright? Or do you want to sit over there?" Argh!! ...or people who keep having to get up and pass by me. I can only cram my legs so far into my chest people, please!! And I like to sit on the aisle so I'm always bugged by frequent exiters. As far as where I like to sit in a theater: it's usually right in the middle, but like I said, I like to sit on the aisle which bugs my husband because he's 6'3" and he thinks that's more his right than mine (he likes to stick his legs off to the side because they're always crammed up behind the seats).

Play seating...hmmm, don't go to enough plays to answer that.

In classrooms, well, actually it depends on the class. If it's a class I like, I'll sit up front. If it's a class I'm not too interested in, or if I want to be invisible in the class (which is hard in grad seminar classes) then I will sit in the back. Usually though, we sit at a roundish table, kind of like King Arthur and his knights . I'm sure some of that "equal participation of everyone" mentality is at play here too.

Concert seating: that's easy, if it's a band I love, as up front and center as possible. If it's a band I've been dragged to see, and is at a smaller club, I like to be towards the back to make up my mind if I like them or not. If I do, I'll weedle my way up front.

Sporting events: This doesn't really matter, unless I'm watching Tennis, then I have to be as close as possible, and preferably not behind the players...not a good view of all the action.

Wait, are you saying you would rather have a fistfight in front of the car while you're trying to go somewhere than have someone call shotgun?! cause, usually, if people are going somewhere, they're all in the car at the same time... I have to submit the possibility that you're just mad cause you always forget to say it first  :wavey:

At the theaters, I love a great view of the whole screen.

In a restaurant, I love the booths. Very cozy.

In classes, I would like it close to the board.

During concerts, I would love to get floor seats again.

Sporting events... far, far away from the playing field. 'Cause I don't want my day to be ruined when a puck goes flying!

I go to the downtown location AND the one on Anderson Ln. Depends on what's playing where. I really love it when they show midnight movie revivals of old B-movies, or have film festivals The next festival features George Romero's movies on location at a creepy, old house and Romero is going to be there! I still haven't committed to that one, it all depends on money and time of course.

What seating do you prefer?

For movies, I prefer further back, but not all the way. And my husband HAS to be on the aisle. Same thing at church, he must be on the aisle. I think it's the control freak in him. I don't like being near the front because it kills my neck having to look up. Getting old.......

Unfortunately, I haven't been to any plays, but the few musicals I've been to I like to be close w/an unobstructed view (obviously). I don't really care if it's center or on the sides.

Since it's been 18 years since I've had a class of any kind, I'll pass on that one, except to say I used to like the back. I'm farsighted and couldn't stand being close to the front.

As far as on a plane, hmmm....I'll take any seat in First Class, thank you very much! But since I don't have that privilege anymore, I'll take a window seat, bulkhead or exit row. Unless my daughter's with me, then she can have the window. as long as she doesn't play with the window shade. That drives me nuts. Up and down, up and down....

Restaurant seating has to be non-smoking, and preferably a booth. I don't mind being near the kitchen...I like to watch what's going on. Don't really like being close to the bathrooms, though.

My best friend's mom had a bright red station wagon that she took us everywhere in. Very familiar with the back-back.
