It showed up on one of the lossless Bittorrent trading sites, and was drawn to my attention by a regular there who knows I'm a Mac-aholic.
I've passed it on to two or three traders: if anyone else wants to trade for a CD copy (NOT burned from MP3s), drop me private mail. It's apparently an audience recording, and the copy circulating was encoded off cassette.
Thanks for getting it out there FleetfootMike :)
77Rumours77 - I have it and have been trading it. So don't worry it will be out there in heavy circulation very soon, I'm sure.

I listened to Rhiannon from it yesterday posted on Go Your Own Way - what a strange, strange performance! Like, "I'm flat, but I don't care." And stevie did this wonderful....aaaaooooaaaawooowowowowowowowow thing. But are you guys talking about someone may have a VIDEO of it? A visual copy? The end was neat-o, i thought i'd like to see it. I thought that was the one everyone was always talking about from Japan. You know "I love the bootleg video I have of Rhiannon from Japan".

Mike, thanks for staking out those off-the-beaten-path trading sites. Lots of great Mac material has surfaced from those sources already. Keep us posted! We'll beat the record companies yet! (or we already have)

AmberWhen they mention the video from Japan, they're talking about either the Young Music TV show (which was December 5 in Tokyo, I think) or the stashy stuff from Frank Harding (featuring the heavy dude with the camera pushing it in everyone's face), which seemed to cover the entire week of shows they did in Japan, & especially the couple of nights in Osaka & Tokyo. It's even got the footage of them boarding the bullet train to get around.

The "wonderfull aaaoooowowowowoooowoaooow thing" is very like what she does on "Green Manalishi", actually. I'm kinda fond of the "Gold Dust Woman" off there as well.
Our 'Stevie' commented when she first heard the Tokyo version that Stevie sounds dead tired - apparently like (and I bow to her knowledge in this) someone who's been on coke but isn't currently... It seems to be a thread through all those Japan performances.

Aahh, I've never heard her GM. I think Go Your Own Way might be posting the GDW - I look forward to hearing it. Yeah, she sure does sound like that! I wonder if the band was mad at her. I mean, I don't care, but she was really flat and stuff! And i bet Christine wouldn't turn in a performance like that...i've heard her flat a teensy bit before, though. Anyhoo...

She's a little hoarse, which is extremely pleasurable (for me, that is -- not her). To give you an example of a Dreams I find so lackluster it's boring: Dallas '78. But even that one is saved by the great playing (the '78 shows had a tightness & bravery that the others sometimes don't) & the lyric ****up.
I think there are certain kinds of lackluster jobs that I really like from Stevie or Christine, whereas others leave me bored.

That's a good way to describe it. What do you guys think of Stevie's performance throughout the Osaka show on the 4th? That's always been one of my favorite Fleetwood performances, but it was the first one I ever got/owned/heard, so maybe the nostalgia warps my perspective. I think it's a smashing Rhiannon, I really do.

the Dec.4,1977 Osaka show is a very good quality show. For some reason all the '77 Japanese shows sounded great.
I have a trader from Canada who is going to be receiving another '77 Japan show (I believe the date is Dec.12,1977) that we havent been able to find listed anywhere online, So once it has been listened to & compared with the other Japanese show we'll know if we found yet another rare recording to add into circulation.

It's the first tape I ever got of a live Fleetwood concert, & it's now about 26 years old. Magnetic tape on a spindle just doesn't hold up all that well over time.

That'll be great, Brian. Date's a little odd to me. I think the band played Japan on Nov. 30, Dec. 1/2/3/4/5, & then finished the tour on Dec. 7/8 in Honolulu & Dec. 10 in Maui.

You're tellin' me. That's why I stick around the online fans: all this music keeps popping up.
The shows I'd love most from that period in top quality (none of those audience recordings) are:
Oakland Coliseum "Days On The Green" 4.25.76, etc.
Homewood "Summer Of Stars" 7.21.76
Oakland Coliseum "Days On The Green" 5.07.77
Madison Square Garden 6.29.77/6.30.77
Freehold Raceway NJ 7.10.77
Philadelphia Spectrum 9.27.77 (with Bob Welch on Hypnotized)
UCLA 10.04.77
Sydney Show Grounds 11.19.77
Philly JFK Stadium 7.30.78
The Bowl 8.31.80
Irvine Meadows 10.18.82
Stevie's Forum show 10.02.83
Stevie's Tuscaloosa show 10.29.83

the bootleg my Canadian trader received that was to have been "Dec.12,1977" is actually just the "Dec.1,1977-Nagoya, Japan" show (Even though his trader said it was otherwise).
That is another reason why FM/SN bootlegs will never be considered as great as the other bootlegs by other artist in circulation, Inaccurate info such was wrong date, wrong location, etc.

While we are on the subject of hard to find bootlegs...has anyone ever come across the full concert: Atlanta 8/8/80 from the Tusk tour?? I only have Sisters of the Moon, GYOW, and Songbird from that show. The sound is amazing, sounds like soundboard. SOTM is one of the most amazing versions I have ever heard. I just can't believe that the only songs recorded were the last 3, there has to be a full boot of that show somewhere out there....

It was one of the things Frank Harding "borrowed" from the vaults. His bootlegger girlfriend put three cuts from it on various CD-R compilations she sold over the years, so that's why we all have GYOW, SOTM & Songbird. An audience recording of the whole show is circulating, but we'll just have to wait for the rest of the soundboard. It shouldn't be long. A similar thing happened with Mobile, & I expect the same thing to happen with two 1982 tapes: Baton Rouge & East Rutherford.

that does exist, But someone is holding onto it is the soundboard recording of the Tusk tour stop in Oklahoma City (I don't have the actual date). The only track "officially" released was "Over And Over" which appeared on the "Fleetwood Mac Live" release.
When I was younger I remember hearing tracks from this show played on a classic rock station in Tulsa, 97.5 KMOD. KMOD were quite fond of playing of Lindsey's take of "Oh Well" since it was a rather rocking version.
I havent seen the 1980 Atlanta audience recording yet, But if anyone wants to let me know who has it I would be much appreciative.

ps-I wished some people would check their version of the "so-called" May 7,1977 Day On The Green recording before trading it, I have received several copies of this show and each is the May 18,1977 OKC show (Which is a great recording, Hopefully I can find the DAO version of it)

Then i have to mention the Alpine Valley 82 show!! have you heard sara, dreams off this!! Stevie actually sounds the worst on everyone of her songs. So dreary and mostly she kept saying her lines way out of sync to the point that it was not cool and just terrible! It is the only cd (apart from Lindsey demo of Walk a thin line with him doing the whiny thing) that i will not opt to put on my cd player.... :distress:

That show is unlistenable. I could bear that maybe the band was having a little too much fun before they hit the stage but the sound quality of this boot is abominable. The only song that I really like on it is Hold Me.

Is it? On my "Live" LP/CD they both say Say You Love Me - Wichita, and If it wasn't from that tour when was it? Could it be 1975?1977, actually. The sleeve itinerary on that album has always been misleading because it implies that all those songs were recorded on that tour. There's just a city listed for each track & no mention of a year -- the sensible reaction is to assume that the songs are all from 1979-80. But many of them aren't: Monday Morning, Say You Love Me, Dreams, Over My Head, Rhiannon, Don't Let Me Down Again & Don't Stop.
The clues are numerous & solid: arrangement (e.g., compare the structure of "Don't Stop" on "Live" with "Don't Stop" from a 1980 performance with its 12-bar coda), sound of voices, vocal arrangement & improvisation, known audio or video (e.g., the 1977 promotional vids for "Don't Stop" & "Dreams" or the 1977 Japanese TV broadcast), instruments used (e.g., Les Paul instead of Turner, pianet instead of CP-30) etc.

I think we actually need to create a thread solely to clear up the origins of the 'Live' album tracks.
I think it would be pretty interesting and useful (well, at least to we anal retentives), to have the information in one place. :)

Is it just me or does Over My Head on the Nashville 1977 boot sound identical to the one on the "Live" album? That always confused me. I was under the impression that that LP was all recorded on the Tusk tour, but I guess it all wasn't?

there needs to be a ongoing Fleetwood Mac live bootleg thread (Mainly for live recordings from 1967-1997...I think I have the 2003-2004 stuff pretty much covered).
There's ton of stuff available and we need to get the correct info on dates/location/setlists instead of guessing.

Let's do a separate thread per tour, just to keep things a bit organized. I'd hate sorting through 600 SYW/Dance postings to find something I know I saw posted about the White album tour!
This is a great idea! I've just gotten it in my head to start sorting this stuff out, so, for me, the timing couldn't be better! :)

I am working on a database-backed site which will be a definitive concert and bootleg list for the Mac, which will allow registered/invited users to make updates, so that between us we can produce THE definitive list of who played what, where, when, and in what manner which bits of it were recorded....
It's a spare time project, but I hope to have something up and running by the end of the month.
