Sunday, July 11th ~ the day of the concert!!!!!! I was so nervous and excited at the same time. Tammy and Chris got their wires crossed and we had a fun time trying to find everybody! We were waiting for Tammy and John at the room and they never came. I decided that they were probably downstairs waiting for us. Chris took the stairs to find them and I took the elevator. I found them but then we lost Chris. LOL Anyway, we all drove downtown Denver (which is a really cool place!) to go to the Hard Rock Café. When we entered the restaurant we immediately went looking for the Fleetwood Mac items. As we went upstairs we saw the Fleetwood Mac plaque and a guitar that John McVie signed. Then we located the Fleetwood Mac wall. We took several pictures with the Penguins next to different items on the wall. We then went back downstairs to eat. We went into the little shop and I bought a pin for Second Hand Pot and Beautiful Child (SHP/BC).
After we got back to the hotel, Tammy, Chris and I went and scouted out where we were to meet everybody before the concert. We also drove around Fiddler’s Green and got our plan all worked out. We then went back to the Hotel to wait for the time to go to dinner.
At 4:45, Tammy and John came to get us. We went to the Elephant Bar restaurant for dinner and to meet other FM fans. We were the first to arrive and we got the penguins out so everyone would know who we were. First to arrive was Mary (Stargazer99) from Chicago. She was really fun and had great stories. Then Lauren and Seth arrived. They are from the Denver area and Lauren and I had been e mailing for months. She’s adorable. I loved her – she’s great! Next to arrive was James, his fiancé, Jessi, Jessi’s dad, Ryan and also Gail from Wyoming. James came in and immediately gave me a bear hug!! He's a really neat guy and Jessi's really nice too. They all came in a limo and invited us to ride over in it with them! Finally, Echo and Sarah (Night3ird), who live in Denver also, met up with us. I was so excited that I barely ate the salad I ordered. We took pictures and talked non-stop.
It was then time to go to the concert!!! Chris took pictures of us by the limo and then she went back to the Hotel. Tammy, John, James, Jessi, Gail and I took the limo to the concert. It was really fun. When we got to the venue, we parted with James and went around to Will Call. I got our tickets and of course the Fan Club messed up and gave me 4 tickets instead of 3. As we debated what to do, Lauren, Seth and Mary met up with us. Mary also had tickets she needed to get rid of. I decided to keep the ticket in case the fan club wanted it back.
We went in to the amphitheater and went straight to the T-shirt stand. I got a tote bag that says Fleetwood Mac on it. I love it! Tammy was going to get a Penguin but it cost $10.00 more than what I could get through the fan club so I told her to wait. She got a tote bag like mine.
We went to our seats and loved them! We had a perfect view to the area where the band would enter the stage area. James came and talked to us for awhile and we saw Lauren and Seth come in. As the time neared for the concert to begin, Tammy and I started watching the stage area. We saw Brett Tuggle and Taku Hirano kind of “hanging out”. About 10 minutes after 8:00 we saw Stevie, Mick, John and Lindsey and our hearts just jumped! It was so exciting to be able to see them prepare to take the stage. The crickets began and they took the stage.
Everyone knows the setlist by now so I won’t go into it. The only changes for me were the fact that I heard Sara, Red Rover and I Know I’m Not Wrong for the first time live.
I think Tammy and I was just as excited as Lauren when we saw Lindsey sign her B/N album! We saw him do that as well as sign Mary’s picture for her little boy. As soon as we saw the B/N album we knew it was Lauren’s. I was so excited for her.
I thought this was a better concert than the other two I had been to. Lindsey was on fire ~ I don’t know how the man does it! He’s older than I am and I can’t imagine having the energy he does. He truly puts his whole heart into it. I noticed that it was like he was just soaking up the applause after his performances. He was just taking it all in and loving it. He’s a master at the guitar and there isn’t any one better.
Stevie ~ as we all know, she is beautiful. From where we were, we couldn’t tell she was ill. She did comment about the altitude but other than that I thought she was great! It was cute when she got caught up in her streamers.
Stevie and Lindsey tease us like crazy. They get so close to each other and just when you think they could kiss they split apart. During the “Tusk” dance they also seem to be in love again. But we all know it’s not so…it’s just a show. They know it’s what we want to see and they give it to us.
I do wish that they had changed things with each concert so that it wasn’t so “staged.” Each concert I went to I heard the same “thoughts’” from Lindsey. I pretty much knew what was going to happen and what they were going to say after I went to the first concert….just my opinion.
After the concert, our little group all met up again and was excitedly talking about the events when security all but pushed us out. Geesh! Give us a break! Somehow we lost contact of Echo and Sarah though. Tammy, John and I decided we would forgo the limo ride back to the hotel. We were close enough to walk and it was a beautiful night. James and gang drove by us and we were excited to see them. What a night! It was VERY hard to sleep that night. It’s like Lauren said - it all went by so fast.
