FYI - saw the commercial last night - it premieres this Friday night 10pm EST on CMT. They showed short clips of "Perfect Goodbye" & what sounded like a Zep tune.

one of the better Crossroads that have been shown this year on CMT (Martina McBride & Pat Benatar was great...But they 2 look a lil' bit like siblings if ya ask me, lol!!!)

Like I posted before, CMT is showing an outtake from The Heart/Wynonna Crossroad episode for the song "I Wanna Know What Love Is"

It was a great performance, But I think Wynonna oversang on each of the songs...Her vocals were rather annoying whereas the Wilson sisters vocals sounded surprisingly strong.

Best part of the show was the Led Zep cover "Rock & Roll" with special guest Jerry "Alice In Chains" Cantrell on guitar.

She has a booming voice. I have seen her in cencert and it is overwhelming. Having said that, there are very few if any who could stand on stage with Ann Wilson and compete much less win. AW has range, depth, volume, and can be very subtle and simultaneously alarming when she needs or wants to -good examples are Dreamboat Annie (my fav.) , City's Burning (another fav.) , and in Magic Man - she does both. Sometimes I literally almost freak out when I hear her sing. She is that good IMO. Ann, BTW, has a VERY good voice as well - but nothing approaching Nancy's voice IMO.

Thanks for the tip ! I am watching it. It is pretty good. I never thought I'd say it, but Wy outsang Ann, especially on "Rock and Roll". Plus, last time I saw Ann, she had really slimmed down from a surgery....she looks fine, but I am thinking she backslid a little.
Wish I could have seen this filming. It's a pretty great show.

I caught the "late" showing last night. I thought it was real good. It was the first time I heard any of Heart's new stuff, as I haven't picked up the cd yet. The "Perfect Goodbye" made me want to hear more. I really enjoyed listening to it. Could have been taken from the Dog and Butterfly set. It's a pretty song with a biting message! Rockers and ballads alike in the set. From the rather raucous opening of "Magic Man" to the heart wrenching closer "Love Hurts", the vocals of Ann, Wynnona, and Nancy were, for lack of a better word, impressive. Those gals can sing! It was funny, when asked during one of the interview segments, why do you cover Zeppelin songs, the answer was "BECAUSE WE CAN". Actually Wynnona answered it, but I thought it was a GOOD answer. Ann and Nancy said they started covering Zeppelin back in the 70s, more because they thought it was a cool image to portray onstage, in an androgynous way. "Magic Man", "Dog And Butterfly"(a request/demand by Wynnona), and "Perfect Goodbye" were the Heart songs done. Did I miss any? Then at least two from Wynnona, which I can't name because I don't really know her music that well. I think one was "No One Else On Earth". When introducing the song Wynnona said, "NO ONE ELSE ON EARTH CAN SING LIKE THIS WOMAN"!, referring to Ann. Then there were two covers, "Rock And Roll" and "Love Hurts". Nancy said, "after working with these two (Ann and Wynnona) for several weeks, they could be sisters". There must be some kind of a soul connection between them. I definitely can say that they both have powerhouse voices and they do actually look somewhat alike too(no jokes please):). Anyway, it's a cool show, as most of these Crossroads shows are.

Thanks for the heads up everyone. I'd miss so much good stuff if it wasn't for my Ledge connections!

considering I thought larger markets would have more options for TV viewing instead of making 2 channels share a schedule...

Only other strangeness I know of is that our cable company has recently removed ALL the CNN channels from the system (One was replaced with MSNBC)

Surprisingly? I think they're ALWAYS strong.

Great show, I agree that Wynonna oversang---the woman has a great voice but the way she uses it sometimes leaves a lot to be desired. I thought "Rock and Rol"l ROCKED, and I do think that they picked some Heart tunes that were perfect for Wynonna to sing and she did a good job for the most part. I am so ready to see Heart live again. I was chomping at the bit to buy my tickets after the Crossroads show, unfortch they're not on sale for the Austin show yet. :distress:

Surprisingly. Nuff said.

(Btw, I meant no disrespect towards the Wilson sisters, It's just after you have seen all the Crossroads on CMT most of the time those representing the "rock" community have sounded less-than-overwhelming vocally...)

I caught the last 30 minutes on the first showing, and last nite, I taped the whole thing. Quite impressive!! I liked the "sparkling mousse sh*t" in Wynonna's hair! LOL

Tracye, Heart tickets go on sale this Saturday, 10 AM!

I thought this show was phenomenal...although I'm cursed I think...I've tried taping it twice and both times my VCR has malfunctioned! Ann is looking great, and sounds better than ever...I have their new CD and it is also very good!

Sparkling mouse sh*t?!?!? Hilarious.

I was quoting Stevie! That's from an old-source-unknown-bootleg from somewhere...Stevie says, "I don't want any of that sparkling mousse sh&t in my hair, I'm just a rock a roll singer!" LOL

Yeah, I'm buying Heart tickets! Apparently, it's part reserved/part general admission??

Uh...where is the "reserved" part of the Backyard? Everytime I've been there it looks like it's first come, first served to me. I don't remember seeing any special reserved section, but then again I'm not the most observant person in the world. I'm getting there when the damned doors open btw,...

You know what's funny? I thought you typed "sparkling mouse ****" instead of of sparkling mousse!!!! That makes it all the more funny!!

Go here and click "seating" for the chart - then click the Heart link to Star Tickets.

Backyard (http://www.thebackyard.net/)

The tickets are $44.50 for reserved and $35.50 for GA (BIG difference compared to FM tix, eh?). When I went to the Neville Brothers, only the middle floor sections were roped off and reserved, back to the soundboard. The rest of the venue was GA. So, I'm assuming Heart will be similar?? I'm gonna try for reserved, but if I don't get the first 20 rows, I'll get GA. I like to roam around, anyway. :p

It looks like the reserved seating is WAY off to the left of the stage...doesn't look like good seats, but they have to be if they're more expensive right? I don't know, I might just do general admission and get there at the crack of dawn that day.

No- the map just happens to be titled "reserved seating" on that side of the page - but that map is for the entire venue being reserved...

How did you do? I called them at 9:57 AM, got the "wait for the next available operator" recording, and right at 10 AM, they answered. I ended up with 12th row, dead center, in Section SC. :p Just for grins, I looked online today, I pulled up a single, 5th row seat in Section SB. But that looks too far over on the side...I still don't know what's reserved and what's GA, and it REALLY sucks that when you click on the "map" link while you're searching for tickets, it says no map is available. That's BS! So, you have to use the Backyard's map on their site.

Oh my god, we are so close to each other!! I got 15th row! Not sure exactly where seats 3-7 are, probably way far to the left, which is fine, because then I will be able to have a great view of Nancy. I'm kind of upset that I got 15th row...you're right, the whole ticket buying thing on startickets.com is really user unfriendly. 5th row would have been awesome!! I suppose buying five tickets had something to do with where we ended up. I suppose I shouldn't complain and just be glad I'm going! I am really excited!!

Whoops, I just looked at my notes again, I got 14th row, so we're even closer! LOL I tried to enlarge that map jpg, but it's nothin' but blur! F*CK Tim O'Conner and Direct Events! LOL It's a conspiracy, like they really don't want you to know what you're buying! LOL Well, it appears that seat #1 begins on the right - and in Section SC, some of the seat numbers on the left aisle look like 14, and some of them look like 24. One could go blind trying to count the damn squares! LOL In any case, we both got good seats, in the center floor section! YAY!

I'm going w/ Bruce, Daniel and Beth. More of Bruce's friends from SA are going, as well as some mutual friends of ours in Austin. It's gonna be a party! I've got the new Heart CD in the car, only heard the first 6-7 songs so far, but I love it! Ann's voice hasn't changed one bit!

I know, isn't the new c.d. great? It's in constant rotation on my stereo at home. Looks like we're going to be right next to each other, that is so cool!! We couldn't have planned it better if we'd tried!

That's fine if we're more to the right...Ann is always front and center so it doesn't really matter where you sit. I'm sure Nancy will be flailing about on her guitar anyway, she likes to dance around and do her scissor kicks!
