View Full Version : Coke or Pepsi?

I know, neither is my first choice, but if you have to choose one to drink, which is it?

Please choose ONE. (It can be diet, but no alternatives such as root beer or Sprite or Slice, etc.)

And I vote Coke.

Coke
Vanilla Coke
Cherry Coke
Diet Coke
Diet Cherry Coke
Diet Vanilla Coke

I draw the line at Diet Coke with Lemon & Diet Coke with Lime.

And, "caffeine free" ? It brings up the same question as "alcohol-free beer"...WHY?

And that new C2 coke? Tastes like transmission fluid...not that I know what transmission fluid tastes like...but, I can only assume.

But, as a kid I used to drink RC Cola...whatever happened to THAT?

chili - as for the caffeine-free ... I drink that if I want the taste but I don't want to be wide awake all night. I "get" that but I still don't get the non-alcoholic beer either......even though it's kinda the same concept. Go figure.

Pepsi

Coke was ruined for me last year when I went to Guatemala on a mission trip. The Guatemalan Coke was disgusting, and it made me so sick. I really should have thought about the possiblity of them using their own water to make it, which of course my body couldn't handle.

But...if this counts...I also love Pepsi Blue.

I prefer Coke over Pepsi but I prefer Diet Pepsi over Diet Coke. But I usually buy whatever's on sale. And yes, I'm one of "those" people that drinks diet, caffeine-free colas. Other than my two cups of coffee in the morning, I just can't handle drinking anything with caffeine--I'd be awake for days if I didn't watch it.

I am a diet coke/diet cherry coke fanatic!

I think Diet Pepsi is the most horrid heinous liquid ever put into a can or bottle...it's just nasty.

I recently tried the low carb Coke-not bad....

Overall I really just prefer Coke....all the way...if I go to a restaurant that does not sell Coke products, I just get water or tea....every time :)

I don't think it's really the same concept. Non-alcoholic beer doesn't make sense to me because beer is not the best flavor, IMO, and people I know drink it for the buzz - not the same for Coke.

In order of preference:

Diet Cherry Coke
Diet Coke with Lime (I like the bite)
Diet Dr. Pepper
Diet Coke with Vanilla (a little too sweet, but I do like)

That's wonderful about your loss - not the ass part. I need to lose about 15 myself - although you really can't tell, strangely. to drink more water than soda (Though I still love the occassional A&W Root Beer) since my illness. My primary doctor told me "The rise in cancer of the throat & esophagus is now being linked to the acid content of soda's, I recommend that you cut back on the amount of soda you drink".

Since I have started to drink water more so than soda I have dropped over 10 lbs. and my energy has stated to return (Even though I am currently ill I feel better than I did a year ago..."Isn't that weird?")

The worst is when you're trying to sleep & you have to go. Buddy Hackett used to do a bit about this happening as you age, that you force yourself out of bed & by the time you get to the pot, your wee-wee changed its mind, so you stand there talking to it: "Listen, you're the one that wanted to get up."

to drink more water than soda (Though I still love the occassional A&W Root Beer) since my illness.

"That is pretty weird." :)

I draw the line at Diet Coke with Lime.

I don't. Hmmm yummy lime.... I put it in my diet cokes when I go out to eat.

In Waco, Texas? I think so, they have a DP Museum down in Waco, I think...or is it just the factory? LOL

Yep. Been there. The Dr. Pepper they sell in the little restaurant there is to die for! They mix the syrup and the carbonated water (like it's brain surgery or something ) right before your eyes so it's fresh and not bottled. It's delicious!

I don't have that problem! All I have to do is hear running water and I have to go. Every time I brush my teeth or do dishes, I'm running to the potty!

Carol

Must be a pretty big bathroom if you have space to run from the sink to the potty. ;)

If I really had to choose, I would go for a diet coke OR a diet pepsi...they both taste the same to me.

Really? They're not my favorite tastes, but I can definitely taste a difference.

It's been many years since I've seen it (cough-cough-Oh, my back!), but I think there was a guy swinging into a lake while the chorus played.

The Safest Soft Drink For Your Teeth
Love an icy cold soft drink? Then choose a root beer. Of all types of soft drinks and canned teas, this one does the least damage to your teeth.

Researchers from the dental school of the University of Maryland, Baltimore determined that non-cola soft drinks, including ginger ale, Mountain Dew, and Sprite, as well as canned iced tea are much harder on teeth enamel than any other kind of canned drink, due in large part to acidic flavor additives, such as such as malic acid or tartaric acid, reports Medical News Today. Root beer has the least additives, making it the best soft drink for your teeth.

The study: For 14 days the researchers exposed healthy dental enamel to a variety of popular soft drinks, including Coke, Pepsi, Mountain Dew, Dr. Pepper, Sprite, Canada Dry ginger ale, and canned Arizona Iced Tea.

The results:

All of them weakened and permanently destroyed the tooth enamel.
Diet sodas had the same bad effect as the sugared versions since the main culprit is the acidic additives.
The most harmful were non-cola drinks, which caused two to five times the damage as darker cola drinks.
Root beer, which contains the least amount of flavor additives, was found to be the "safest soft drink to safeguard dental enamel."
Canned iced tea caused 30 times the damage to tooth enamel as brewed tea or coffee.
Brewed black tea, root beer, coffee, and water had a minimal effect.
Adding to the problem is our own mouth acidity. If that increases, the chemical reaction with the soft drink hurts our teeth even more, according to lead study author J. Anthony von Fraunhofer. The end result: tooth decay. One thing you can do to protect your teeth is to rinse your mouth with water after drinking a soda.

We love soft drinks in this country. A whopping 95 percent of Americans drink soda. Soft drinks account for about 27 percent of the beverages consumed in the United States. The average 12- to 19-year-old drinks about 28 ounces of soft drinks every day.

The study results were published in the General Dentistry, the newsletter of the Academy of General Dentistry.

We all did.
I think more people got mad at Coke for changing than for Reagan for lying about Iran-Contra. :distress:
