Ok, I hate to get all dorky and cheerleader "rah, rah, rah", but after emersing myself in a sea of FM CD's and concerts this week (where everyone would love to drown), and listening to the entire SYW album on my way home from Houston yesterday, I just have to declare how much in love I am with this album. When I first heard that they'd be making a new record, I was so afraid that it wouldn't live up to the previous albums or to my expectations. But everytime I listen to it, it's such a gem and some of their best work ever. I could not have been any happier with what they have given us. Everytime I listen to the CD, I just grin and say "YESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!"

It's definitely their best since Tusk.

I also think it's the best thing they've done since Tusk - I remember after my first listen - I felt like I'd just been taken on a wild ride!

As far as my opinion on "Say You Will" goes, it's a great album but I couldn't help but feel SLIGHTLY let down. Maybe it was that the album had way too many tracks (one thing that detracts from "Tusk" for me) or perhaps the abscence of a few Christine tracks, but the album was just alright for me. Probably still better than "Mirage" for me even though it didn't quite have a "Gypsy" to really get me excited.

saying to Debbie on the ride home as I listened to SYW for the first time "It's a monster of an album, I'm impressed."
I still impressed even today...

After Mirage and Tango, I'm listening to it right now...Murrow...the solo (OH YEAH!!!)...
This album is extremely impressive, even over a year after it's release. PPFFTT to those who say it's new, so they could care less. How about you join us in the year 2004. I'm all for nostalgia, but good grief!!
You've got masculine and feminine, as usual. There's something for everyone. :) You've got weird Lindsey (Red Rover) and sweet Lindsey (Steal Your Heart Away). You've got same old Stevie (Thrown Down) and today's Stevie (Illume).

The general diversity and the overall atmospheres they can achieve while still being limited musicians in their own ways is still amazing, and with 18 tracks on the album this is even more underlined than usual. :)

Yeah I love the record. It grew on me over time. I find myself listening to a couple a cuts almost everyday from it. It's definitely the best thing since Tusk I think too. But then again I like "The Dance" better.

See, the thing I love about SYW is that in most albums there's good songs...and then a couple of skippers. But on SYW it's all good. It's really hard to pick a fav track. I even like Silver Girl, and I know the rest of you don't. It's just kind of soothing.

When all is said and done (hopefully not until many, many years from now), 'Say You Will' will stand as one of my favorite Mac albums.
Admittedly, I re-arrange the track-listing when I listen, but other than that, I look at it as a perfect album.
It has everything I look for... great vocals, evocative lyrics, lush harmonies, ace instrumentation & production, as well as romance, drama, whimsy, and then some.
Even the couple of songs that don't exactly blow me away, are still amazing in their own right (yes, even "Silver Girl," which has grown on me considerably).
Yes, it's a long and involved album, but it's sure worth the ride. :D

I think SYW is awesome. I think Chris tracks coulda been great but i don't miss them. They are 18 very solid tracks (I Like Silver Girl) and I really think it is one of their best ever it is just ashame in away that it doesnt get the same recognition as the other albums because I think both Stevie and Lindsey are in a great point in their life and are extremely creative, and I can't wait for any future albums :)

Totally agree. MAybe SYW is far better than Mirage, as a whole work, but it misses jewels like Gypsy.
In fact, I think Rumours is far better than SYW.
