Monte Montgomery. What about Sheryl Crow? She's mentioned Stevie, but surely Lindsey as well?
And, what's his face, Leo Kottke. I won't swear by this one, and in fact, it's probably a situation in which they've influenced each other. Leo covered World Turning.
I'll think of some others.

Todd Norcross, and also the guitarist of that instumental band you posted about recently, Christy. (One of their songs was Autumn Waltz, if i remember correctly. Can't remember the guy or the band though!)
That is an AWESOME photo of two guitar legends.

Marty Friedman is another. I believe he played in Megadeth. Can't remember...he's one of those really fast "flying fingers" type guys like Satriani or Vai.
And then of course, there's me! I discovered Lindsey and I had a similar playing style after I'd been playing for about a year. When "The Dance" came out I realized what I was doing, in terms of MY playing, was something cool.

Yeah, didn't Lindsey join REM on stange once too?Yep, REM's Los Angeles show at the Forum Nov. 1, 1995. They all did "Everybody Hurts." Lindsey sang & played the guitar. Also, Peter Buck apparently visited Lindsey in the studio once upon a time to work on something.
BTW, that pic. with Jimmy Page is awsome! It sure is! That's rad! Who'd a thunk? Jimmy Page at a Fleetwood Mac concert . . . .
Another guy who has always loved LB is Matthew Sweet, who has worked with Richard Dashut. And Rob Thomas of Matchbox 20 loves the band, as does John Rzeznik. And I think Matt Sorum was at the Burbank taping in '97.

Marty was the former lead guitarist in Megadeth from the release of their great "Rust In Peace" to his final 'Deth album "Risk"
If I remember right, I once read that the late-great (Oklahoma born) Michael Hedges was also influenced by Mr.Buckingham...
I wonder if Eliot Fisk is influenced by Lindsey? (Andres Segovia was definitely one of Fisk's influences) He definitely has a very similar finger picking style (Listen to his version of Paganini's "24 Caprices", Absolutely sick!)

yes - i was surprised only one of you mentioned MATTHEW SWEET.
check out his records - especially Girlfriend, Altered Beast, 100% Fun, In Reverse -
There are so many Fleetwood Mac moments.
He has often said that "Tusk" is a masterpiece - and one of his alltime favorites.
And oddly - his vocal/harmony arrangements remind me a lot of Christine McVie
I have a feeling Matthew Sweet has a huge blockbuster album up his sleeve...
one of these days........

another obvious influence is the Boston band PAPAS FRITAS.
They have 3 or 4 albums out - all of them have moments of brilliance.
FM fans will find something tasty on all of them.
They had a record out a few years ago with a song called "Way You Walk" - it is so Fleetwood Mac influenced it's almost scary. I thought Lindsey produced some of the record the first time I heard it. They're on the Minty Fresh label.
Other influences - Don Peris from the band THE INNOCENCE MISSION.
and Mark Kozelek from RED HOUSE PAINTERS and SUN KIL MOON.

was (And is...They reformed this past summer, But I don't think many noticed) the former lead singer/guitarist of Stryper.
As for Roth? Really bad that he is reduced to playing Indian casinos here on Oklahoma, And even then no one shows up to care...Most thought he was the door man

You know, I had a similar reaction when I heard that. Although, it may just have been a weird metamorphosis of the Portuguese guitar style that album is going for. Nelly was born in Toronto to Portuguese parents and she is very much influenced by Portuguese music. I believe even the album title, Folklore, is a tribute to that very distinct style of music.
Musica portuguesa conquista o mundo finalmente.

Leo covered World Turning.
And, talk about covers that come close to, if not surpass the original recording...
That girl who had that big hit "I'm A Bitch", a few years ago...Meredith whatsername. I remember reading about her in Guitar Player magazine around the time her hit was peaking and her first "influence" she named was Lindsey.

Hate to admit it, but you're right. That is one of the best covers ever.

Dude, thanks for introducing me to a cool band. I'm digging that stuff. Although the sing-songy aspect of some of the songs may be a bit of a turnoff.
I see what you mean. Sounds like Tango-era guitar licks were one of their inspirations. Have they said anything to this effect?

Well, actually, you were all helping me with a project I was working on. I'm done now, but thanks to all who contributed!!
Meredith Brooks is the "I'm a B*itch" singer, Chilid. I didn't know she was influenced by Lindsey!
Cool.
