Sara Lee to Cut 4,175 Apparel Jobs, Close Five Plants (Update1)
June 10 (Bloomberg) -- Sara Lee Corp., the largest U.S. underwear maker, said it will cut about 4,175 jobs from its branded apparel unit and close five plants.

The company is consolidating intimate, sportswear and underwear production in Puerto Rico, Honduras, Mexico and the U.S., Sara Lee said in a press release e-mailed to Bloomberg News. About 350 jobs will be eliminated in North Carolina, while the other cuts will affect workers outside the U.S.

The company, whose brands include Hanes, Champion and Wonderbra, cited changing production requirements and apparel trade restrictions set to expire at the end of the year.

I can't believe no one wants to make a crack about coffee cakes and Wonderbra's. C'mon. Is everyone tuckered out from the Fleetwood Mac Marathon?

I feel like I've been ripped off. The only thing better than those Victoria's Secret Angels commercials would be the Angels and cake in one ad. Didn't Sara Lee ever consider my feelings?

Somehow, I find that hard to believe.

I'm too vulgar to come up with a crack about this cheesecake and underwear. I'm surprised they aren't doing better business, though, considering what happens to someones ass after consuming their products.

My jokes are so tacky, I should have a lounge act in Sammy's Seafood Central. Complete with a singing fish that serenades the audience while I'm changing costumes:

"On a hot steamy Monday in New Guinea
In the highly overrated month of June
I met him on a most peculiar field trip
Under a jungle moon
I thought he wanted me for mind
Or the sweet little quirks of my heart
Oh, how could I be so blind to see
I should've known from the start...
All he wanted was to eat me
He only thought of me as food
All he wanted was to eat me...
How rude!"

I'd be a hit.

TMI, pal, TMI.....

hee hee... I worked at Spencer Gifts when I was a teenager. I remember doing a stock count one day, back in the stock room. We were so interested in seeing what the edible underwear tasted like, so we tried some.... it's not recommended.....

Cool, I don't think I've ever met anybody who has worked at Spencer Gifts. I loved that place when I was little. All the flashing lights, bikini posters, and fart gags were a boy's dream. :) So, do you have a drawer stuffed with all the dreck you picked up on the employee discount? ;)

What were the posters of? (I'm assuming not bikini-clad women, but if so, then please describe yourself and the posters in lurid detail. I'm a people person.   :blob1: )

I don't care to look at bikini clad women, maybe buff men in speedos.....

They were trippy posters... the ones that made your head hurt while looking at them in a blacklight..
