View Full Version : More evidence that Bush is an ass

Bush addressed the Pope today thusly:

I also bring a message from my government that says to you, sir, we will work for human liberty and human dignity in order to spread peace and compassion, that we appreciate the strong symbol of freedom that you have stood for.

Dumbass! You don't call the Pope "sir." For a guy who threw a fit when a reporter called him "sir" instead of "Mr. President," he sured doesn't do unto others.

Dumbass!

Because he is the leader of the free world and, thus, HH the Pope would not dare snub him. Plus, wants the Catholic vote and this is an election year.

PUUHHLLLEEEZZZZEEEEE - that title rests on evey US Pres. I make no comment on whether it is properly applied, I just used it as it traditionally is used.

BTW - if the sitting US Pres. is not the leader of the free world, then who is - not that anyone need be

"So let’s start at the top – the pope. A person would greet Pope John Paul II as "Your Holiness," "Most Holy Father," or "Holy Father." A letter written to him would be addressed, "His Holiness, Pope John Paul II," with the salutation, "Your Holiness" or "Most Holy Father." "

Yeah, but I'm here to tell you that a lot of these "born-agains" like Bush despise the Catholic Church in general and the Pope in particular. My guess is he absolutely knew what he was doing when he addressed him incorrectly. It was another little "coded" message to the right-wing born agains. Scary **** huh?

I know - I have a friend here in Atlanta that is from rural S. Georgia, which essentially assures the Baptist Faith, and I do not mean city Baptist either  He is in his 30's and still refers to Cathloics as Mary worshippers and Papists. Go figure

Well I dunno about the rest of you, but I'd like to see the pope at the end of a rope (I'm a poet and I dont know it :D ).

Dubya is by far the most tactless excuse for a human being I've ever seen. You'd think his babysitters would have briefed him on how to address the pope (or pronounce difficult words!). Maybe they think its funny. Whatever. I reckon they shaved an ape and put him in the white house!

Bush Late for Vatican Meeting With Pope
8 minutes ago Add White House - AP to My Yahoo!

By SCOTT LINDLAW, Associated Press Writer

ROME - President Bush (news - web sites) arrived 15 minutes late for his meeting with Pope John Paul (news - web sites) II — unusual for a president who makes no secret of his impatience when others keep him waiting.

It was a rare breach of protocol in Vatican (news - web sites) City, too, and raised eyebrows in the papal delegation.

Bush's Erratic Behavior Worries White House Aides
By DOUG THOMPSON

http://www.capitolhillblue.com/artman/publish/printer_4636.shtml

President George W. Bush’s increasingly erratic behavior and wide mood swings has the halls of the West Wing buzzing lately as aides privately express growing concern over their leader’s state of mind.

In meetings with top aides and administration officials, the President goes from quoting the Bible in one breath to obscene tantrums against the media, Democrats and others that he classifies as “enemies of the state.”

Worried White House aides paint a portrait of a man on the edge, increasingly wary of those who disagree with him and paranoid of a public that no longer trusts his policies in Iraq or at home.

The President's abrupt dismissal of CIA Directory George Tenet Wednesday night is, aides say, an example of how he works.

"Tenet wanted to quit last year but the President got his back up and wouldn't hear of it," says an aide. "That would have been the opportune time to make a change, not in the middle of an election campaign but when the director challenged the President during the meeting Wednesday, the President cut him off by saying 'that's it George. I cannot abide disloyalty. I want your resignation and I want it now."

Damn that's cold! First of all he arrives late and then he disses the Pope by not calling him the wrong title--wasn't exactly subtle getting his message across was he? The great thing about this is that it was so hard to understand what the Pope was saying (the man has got to be on his last legs) that I'm secretly hoping he told Bush to **** Off!
