I just went through 5 hours of some pretty intense storms. I live in central Indiana, just west of Indianapolis, and we got hit pretty hard today. There quite a few tornados that touched down on Indianapolis' south, south-west, and south-east sides. Ripped some stuff up pretty badly. I went without power for a little bit. That was about the time I decided to go to mom's. She has a basement.
Anyhow, tornados are my terrible fear that will literally turn me child-like. What's yours?

Hi! :wavey: I'm up in Northeast Indianapolis/Marion County. Luckily, all we got were a few strong storms. All the tornados were just below us.
I'm only 16, but when I hear that a Tornado Warning or Watch is in effect and I'm home alone, I freak. out. I start gathering all my things and clear out my closet in case something touches down. Thankfully, nothing's happened here that I can remember.
But regarding my biggest fears? Heights & spiders. If I'm in a high place, like a balcony, I start shaking really badly and I start sweating and I feel like the ground's going to give way. My parents & I went to an orchestra concert thing and we had balcony seats and I got so bad that I had to dart to the bottom level.
I always get huge spiders in my room - I think they're wood spiders or something - but they like to hang out on my door framing and my wall and stuff. And they always taunt me. I see it, scream a little, creep over to one of my shoes and get maybe 5 feet away from the thing and just kinda stare it down for maybe a half an hour before I can muster up the courage to smack it. Of course, that's exactly when it decides to make like it'll jump on me and then I scream and run across the room. I'm such a wuss.

I'm glad to hear that you guys are alright
As far as fears are concerned, I can deal with it and get over it but I don't like to fly. I mean, it's a huge hunk of metal in the sky...things can go wrong.

When I lived in Austin a tornado came up one highway (Mopac), and hopped onto another (183), where it came through a supermarket. Clean-up in Aisle 6! Nobody was hurt, from what I remember. I'm sure Livia & Cliffdweller recall it.
My big fear is sharks. Those things are just evil looking. My nightmare is to be stranded out at sea, swimming towards a ship, and seeing a fin quickly coming towards me.

Glad you are okay, Maria!!
Tornadoes terrify me too. I will NEVER forget where I was in May 2000 when one ripped through downtown Fort Worth. I was at work, and I kept thinking, "Oh Lord, please don't let me die with my boss, who I can't stand!!!" The sky turned purple, orange, yellow, blue, red and green, I believe all in a span of a few minutes. It was SOOO cool, but I was scared to death. I called home and my dad came to get me.
I also remember as a kid, my mom and I were alone and my dad was at work one night. A tornado came through and mom and I went to get in the tub with a mattress over our head. The next day, a tree down the street had been uprooted completely, but our house/yard was okay.
My biggest fear: fire. :( I'm like Mulder from The X-Files. LOL When I was little, I would stay in my grandmother's house to watch fireworks, they scared me and I wouldn't hold sparklers either. :distress:

nderstorms and Tornadoes are one of my bog fears too. The other one is Snakes. I HATE snakes. I'm fine with spiders but Snakes I can't even watch them on TV. And I'm not a fan of bees or Mosquitos, the latter mainly for annoyance purposes not really fear.

I spent the evening in the bathroom, lol. We had several reports of funnel clouds, but none touched down last night. On Thursday, we did have touchdowns. :( It didn't get my neighborhood, but unfortunately over 100 homes were damaged or destroyed. :(
Everyone stay safe!

I'm one of those people who really loves a good storm. They don't scare me at all, which is strange for an anxiety case like myself. I think it's because my Baba (grandmother) used to take me on the back porch when a storm would come and we'd watch it. I've actually always wanted to see a tornado...I think that comes from my infatuation with The Wizard of Oz when I was little.
As for fears, I have a few, but nothing like a fear of dolls or puppets. I hate them so bad, I won't have one in the house. My dad bought my Baba this huge Indian doll for Christmas (she LOVES dolls), and had to keep it in the garage because I wouldn't sleep with it in the basement. They just freak me out completely.

Ever see the Seinfeld episode where George's fiancee has the doll that looks like his mother?

I like a good storm too, just one without tornados! Jason and I would sit out in the garage (our house faced west) and watch them roll in. It was so relaxing.
We had 11 confirmed tornados on Sunday night here. Too damn many for me.

I love thunderstorms as long as I'm not driving or in a black-out without air conditioning!

OMG ~ me too. Sharks are my biggest fear. Every time I am in the water I hear that stupid song in my head. I blame it on Steven Spielberg and his stupid shark movie that has ruined everyone in my generation..…

Little did I know yesterday when I typed in this thread that I would be dealing with 80 miles an hour winds and tornado's by night's fall. It was crazy. I lost most of my fence and the neighbors have a tree on top of their house. We were in the bath tub with the mattress over out heads. CRAZY.

Completely. He kept hearing his mom's voice when he was attempting intimacy near it.

We had 80 mph winds last night and our tree split and broke our fence. :( We have quite a cleanup today. We were without power from 8:30PM to 1:45PM and now I'm about to go help my dad clean up.
I hate this time of year.

My friend called me today and said he will be by this evening to help me with my fence. Thank goodness cause I have three Pomeranians that will be running the street if I don't get it fixed.

It's been NUTS today....clean up GALORE!! I spent most of the day cleaning up that friggin tree in our backyard that fell over from our neighbor's yard. I am so tired, death may be an option, so I can just rest. LMAO!! Just kidding, but I am sore, I have blisters on my feet and haven't eaten much all day. We ordered a pizza, but it's gonna take an hour because the nearest one is closed, probably due to the storm.
There's almost nothing worse than having no power, no air, it's hotter than Hades here and it's BORING!!!! LOL
Glad you are okay too, and I hope you get your fence fixed!!!
