Just happened to be flipping through the channels and came across Sara Rue on Greg Kilborn. He mentioned Gypsy 83 and Stevie. Sara said that she was envious of people like Wil Smith who get to play people like Mohammad Ali that "everyone loves" and she got to play someone obsessed with a "coked out old hasbeen" Way to promote a movie. I wonder if Sara will last long enough to ever even be considered a "has been"? Greg did say he was a fan of FM and Stevie, so yay for him, but Sara can stick it.

Wow. In all honesty, I saw her for a moment last night on ABC during an AI commercial break, and I was thinking that I dislike her, and that I remembered somebody here saying she likes her, and I couldn't imagine why. With her snide comment about Stevie she has moved in my eyes from "average and of no interest" to "sh!tlisted."

"Hasbeen"? Please, honey. Because whatever tv show it is that you're on is SO memorable.

Yeah, I saw that. Maybe she was joking, but I somehow doubt it.

That's weird, because I thought I'd heard/read that Sara was a fan of Stevie's.
It's also weird because... well, if she didn't like the part, then why did she take it?

I've never even seen the show, but doesn't it have the outstanding talents of Andy Dick?

Yeah, I think they added him at the start of season 2 to boost the ratings
I'm pretty sure she wasn't joking, but I think she thought the audience would think it was funny. No one laughed or anything. Craig Kilborn probably picked up on that too because he did say really quickly "I've always liked Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks". Like I said, it's really not a good way to promote a movie, especially an independant film that the majority of people who have even ever heard of the film are Stevie Nicks fans, and haven't even neccesarily heard of Sara Rue before.

Andy Dick was on that show from the beginning, including the pilot.

That SUCKS she said that. I've always liked her- her sitcom's crappy, but she's gorgeous and always seemed sweet. That pisses me off.

Sara Rue is one to be talking about has-beens...

And you are right, it isn't very wise to promote a movie by dissing the person it's basically about, and like you said mainly the only people who will see it ARE Stevie fans...that bitch

Did anyone see the Trading Spaces that she and Andy Dick were on? She had the same attitude: "Why does Andy goof off all day and do no work and gets a good room, and my room sucks?" (Her room didn't suck, by the way.)

Gee, could it be because you're a b!tch?

Andy Dick got on my nerves so badly that I had to turn it off until the reveals. And her room was fantastic. Some of it looked like it could be found in Stevie's house.

Most people don't even know who Sara Rue is. So I don't think she should be talking about Stevie being a hasbeen. No one is going to be making a movie celebrating the career of Sara.

Who IS Sara Rue? I've never heard of her!

PS Better to be a hasbeen than a neverwillbe!

I saw that episode... she definitely came off a tad snotty/bratty.
I'm still confused about her comments last night though, because I could have sworn I've heard her say positive things about Stevie.

She was on Jimmy Kimmel Live about a week ago to promote the movie and they were chatting about Stevie and she spoke kindly of her. What's with the 180, Sara?

I'm going to have to go ahead and say right about now when the creator of the film comes back onto this site and sees this thread :wavey:

What an intelligent young actress, instead of showing some respect to the lady who inspired the movie where she has a leading role, she decides to badmouth Stevie in a talk show... how brilliant!

I just looked Sara up on imdb.com. She would never be so fortunate to be asked to play someone as beautiful as Stevie, so she should be THANKFUL that she was even asked to play the part she did. Judging from her talent on Less Than Perfect, I do not eagerly await seeing Gypsy 83 (which by the way was filmed 3 years ago). I feel bad for the director--he should have picked someone better. What a truly tasteless and simply untrue comment to make about Stevie.

I maintain that the movie is great, regardless of what rude things Sara says now. She is fine in the movie--don't let this stop you from seeing it if you have the chance. (And no, I'm not the director in disguise just trying to get people out to the movie! )

if it is true that sara said that, we should be proactive in taking steps to put ms. rue in her place - as true stevie fans we are obligated to take up for her as much as possible. would we take that if someone said that to our face? i don't think so - she should have kept that comment to herself! she should issue an apology in the new york times.

And what a vintage age Sara has reached to openly judge Stevie for being a has-been. If and when she reaches the age of 56, can look back on her life and say she accomplished a fraction of what Stevie has and touched as many lives, she should be "honored" if someone calls her a "coked out has-been"(if that's what it means). The only thing I really know about Sara Rue is that she has a lot of living and learning to do. Obviously a lot of people do admire and get inspiration from Stevie's work, even to this day. And obviously Sara just doesn't get it. I think she should have studied the role in the movie a little more. Coked out has-been or LEGEND? I prefer the latter title. :)

My thoughts exactly! Unfortunately, I did a quite lengthy web search trying to find some outlet (webpage, bboard, blog, e-mail, etc.) dedicated to Sara Rue that we collectively could flame, and guess what? I COULDN'T FIND ONE.

She truly is a never-been (as opposed to a has-been), so just looks like we'll have to be more creative. I've already started on breeding my flock of white-wing attack doves... Should Sara Rude ever actually get a big-time Hollywood premiere (hahahaha), we will be ready. The red carpet will be flocked with her "red" hair by the time we're done with her. And she'll be singing more than, "Ooooh, ooooh, ooooh!"

You are absolutely right, and my post did not say it was his fault. I realize he is a Stevie fan. He does have an interest in the film's marketing, though, and therefore it might be appropriate for him to do some damage control. He has been fairly visible on some of the Stevie boards, asking fans to go see the movie, so I don't think this is a demographic he wants to see alienated based on Sara Rue's faux pas. Maybe he can get his "star" to make a clarification or apology or retraction, make a statement on his own behalf, etc.
