I have to ask, i just have to!

A few weeks ago i had a computer guy notice my background image as Stevie Nicks.. naturally ...lol, and he said that "apparently" she used to have an employee whose job was to blow cocaine up her.. um... bottom. Now of course i denied that she ever did, but i just read on a different and entertaining stevie site a few articles that also mentioned the same thing...

Please tell me its not true!

It was a rumour that had no validity nor any basis for truth back in the day.

I think it's the one that has a photo of her looking like a blond haired, purple skinned Olive Oyle balancing on one foot and holding a parasol.

I get a laugh out of the fact that people are willing to believe that the same woman who was mortified about being nude on the 'Buckingham Nicks' cover, would let a roadie blow cocaine up her derriere.
But it seems that some people are so desperate to spread their negativity and malice, that they'll embrace anything they think validates their view.

Sorry for the cliché, but "what's the world coming to?"

(By the way, Jayne... I don't want you to think I'm blasting you for asking about the rumour. I re-read my reply, and realized it may have come off that way.)

i don't want to be flamed for this but people will do whatever it takes to get high when they are addicts. i'm not saying one thing or another. let's just say that if stevie admitted to it, i wouldn't be shocked. there have been people in my life that have done a 180 on me - things that i thought they would never EVER do....have done.

it's one thing to be a bit prudish about showing some skin, but it's completely different when you need to get your fix cause otherwise you feel like you're going to die if you don't.

i do lean more towards not believing the rumours, but, like i said, if they were true i wouldn't be surprised....nor would i think any less of her.

I still don't buy it. I chalk that rumor up to urban legend. That's all it is folks.

I've heard this rumor over and over and over and over, and it never fails to make me break into a fit of laughter.

The thing everyone who gets so tickled by this RUMOR needs to realize is that "booty bumps" are not a rare occurrence. LOTS of people have done it, like to do it, and will probably do it again. Out of the millions and millions and millions of people in the '70s who were on the cocaine-train, do you think that Stevie was the only person to ever have cocaine blown up her butt? Give me a break.

Do a Net search for Studio 54 and read about all the stuff that used to go on in the balcony there. Believe me, cocaine was one of the more normal things people used to stick or have shoved up their ass (gay and straight alike). Or look for an article about Led Zeppelin where Robert Plant talks about partying backstage with groupies, doing booty bumps on them, and then violating their backsides with a plaster cast of Jimi Hendrix's penis that had been made by the famous groupie that used to make molds of all the big rock stars' wangs (I think she was called the Plaster Caster or something like that...). Why is their depravity celebrated, but Stevie's is considered sad and pathetic and should be the subject of ridicule?

I've never understood why this story seems to stick to Stevie. It certainly wasn't because she lived a goody-goody lifestyle. She was the object of lust for countless men (and women!) in the '70s. EVERYONE knew she wasn't a virgin and that she liked to party. Perhaps she should have just embraced the rumor, and said "I sure did have a roadie blow cocaine up my ass! It was one of the best highs I've ever experienced!!!!" Not that she ever would have, of course.

Yes, she was an addict, but so were millions of others. And because she was an addict, she had to have her fix, just like everyone. Cocaine is PHYSICALLY addictive. You have no choice but to do it until you can get MEDICAL help to overcome it. That said, if your nose doesn't work, what other choice do you have? Freebasing or intravenous injections are basically your only other options, unless you want to make a solution and drip it into your eyeballs. I'd take booty bumps any day over those.

I'm not trying to blast anyone -- but the next time someone asks you about this, or mentions it "in passing" to try to tarnish the rep of a woman who's spent her life making people happy and being charitable with all the fortunes her talent has afforded her, just remember what I've said and tell them to get a freakin' life and start worrying about the world's REAL problems. :wavey:

If people will believe that Lara FB will bleach hers, then there isn't much for folks to doubt any longer.

It wasn't directed at any one person in particular... just an observation about a rather disturbing character trait shared by a lot of people in this world.

You are right... it seems most addicts will do just about anything to get their fix. Although most people still have lines they wouldn't dream of crossing.

As far as Stevie's own desire for a fix in that time-period, she told Cynthia McFadden... in what's probably been her most honest interview to date, regarding the cocaine addiction... that after the doctor told her about the hole in her sinuses, and that continuing to use cocaine would kill her, she still used it throughout the 'Rock A Little' tour. Snorting just enough to get her fix, and hoping it would never prove to be a fatal amount.
This despite her doctor's warning.

I didn't get the impression that Stevie looked for alternate ways of getting high... she in fact continued to engage in the behaviour that she knew full well might kill her.

Why do we CARE? I read about the rumor in interviews, I passed it off as another thing that ppl will say for attention, if she did it's her buisness, if she didn't (which is what I think) ppl will still believe what they want to. It doesn't make me like her songs any less, and it dosen't make me lose any respect for her, after all I already knew she was an addict at one time, in fact most muscians from that era were worse then Stevie and some never cleaned up.

This is such a distasteful subject, but it persists, probably because the rumor is so outrageous and beyond the scope of most people's experiences. I think it also tends to horrify a lot of Stevie fans who can't imagine their idol resorting to such level of depravity. Who knows ? Drug addicts do a lot of things most of us can't imagine. It is a completely different reality. Truth is, it doesn't really matter. I prefer not to think of Stevie in terms of relating her to the desperate coke heads I have known. It creates a tremendous dissonance in my own preferred perception of her. Even though I know she was once in terrible condition re: the drugs.

Okay, because you asked: it's NOT true! LOL! But Stevie herself said it wasn't true in some article about a year ago when an interviewer dared to ask her that. I think it was an "UNCUT" interview. Whatever it was, I believe it was an article from the Brits. Maybe someone recalls it exactly.

What a lovely birthday thought.

I was scared to ask, after reading all your posts i can see why an addict really will do anything to get a fix, though im uncertain, of course i will be on the NO side, it just doesn't add up that she would do it. I should say to you few who critisized this topic i find the comment a little over dramatic. Come on people, this is what fan forums are about - a place to come and discuss that person/group. You cant just agree to "pleasant" things being posted, its not as though i found JOY in this topic of my favourite artist blowing coke up her bits.

Now after hearing this rumour twice, and reading it on that page i wanted to discuss it at a place where people would know a place like a"A FAN FORUM". Thanks for the discussion, i feel better, my mind has let go of that little itch

You can find it on Nicks Fix at this URL:

Maybe that will help you in your opinion . . . maybe not. But at least you can hear Stevie respond to it.

I detest this rumor. I am from a small town that does nothing but spread gossip ~ so let's just say that rumors really get me going. But this rumor just won't die. There is a web site called the "A List" It has some nasty stuff about Stevie and Sheryl. I have written this guy/girl who ever runs it and told them what I think. I will link the web site but it makes me sick to read it. Can you say MY WALLS ARE FLAMMING!! I do not condone what this web site says and it's sites like this that keep the rumor mill going. You can email this person as well and tell them what you think. ERRRRR

I really have to bite my tongue off here....it's such a naughty rumour to let your perverse humour have a blast. Distasteful or not, it's a very rock'n'roll image, and I'm sure it's untrue....although a little devil inside of me is asking, really, Miss Nicks, couldn't that have happened only once?....

I agree, it really doesn't matter whether it's true. On the spectrum of outrageous rock n' roll behavior, it's not even that extreme.
However, I will say that I heard this confirmed recently by a credible source. So I kinda believe it... and trust me, I'm not the kind who readily buys into gross rumours of this type. But again, who cares?

In a twisted way-I hope that rumor is true-because that is the magic and charm of all that is Stevie-she is at once a former narcissistic ex-druggy who had sordid flings with married men and rock n' roll stars and did crazy amounts of drugs and all things that are rock star excess,

yet she is now the sweetly demure, charming earth-mother/gracious hostess/ role-model for younger singers who is honest about her past trappings yet still maintains some mystery and allure, even through her brutal honesty. A paradox every way.

So why should we care if she had some one blow coke up her be-hind? If she did, it just villifies her and makes her that much more of a living legend/patron saint of rock n' roll now-and that is ultimately what I think we all want for her!

The first time I heard this rumor it was from a friend of mine who worked in the biz in LA for many years....though he never became anybody, as he puts it. He claimed that a friend of a friend of a friend saw the whole thing happen...riiiiiiiight

Also, I think that rumor is actually published in a book called "Rockstars do the dumbest things" or something like that...my news director lent it to me, and I remember being shocked when I saw my friend dumb ass claim in writing in a book...

I could be TOTALLY wrong here...I'll e-mail my news director and ask him....it's been years since I've read the book...so I may be putting words into it or something...

Anyway..it's a pretty absurd rumor...and I am amazed it has survived all these years :)
