This is just too hilarious. We have posters saying that Stevie looked sick, tired and rundown, another saying if she WAS sick, you couldn't tell, she rocked the house....I mean, ridiculous.
I'm amazed at how two people can look at the SAME EXACT THING and see something TOTALLY different.

That's why I decided a very long time ago, that I never believe anything until I see it with my own two eyes.
Perception clouds everything... some people always see things in the most negative possible way, and others see things thru the proverbial rose-colored glasses. Reality is usually somewhere in between.
And then when I have the facts, I tend to prefer looking for the silver linings, rather than focusing on the dark clouds. :)

Well I saw Stevie upclose tonight and she didn't appear sick and was in good form. She was even playful, putting on a cowboy hat someone handed her during GYOW, and wearing it until she came back for the encore. She didn't push any envelopes, but she didn't put on a blah show by any means. If anything I'd say she looked a little road worn. But again this is all opinion, personal observation, and perception.

Louie... I guess the big question would be, How was the interaction between Stevie & Lindsey?
From reports I've heard, they're certainly not showing any evidence on stage of being in the middle of some kind of feud.
By the way, I was thinking that one can suffer from bronchial problems (such as Stevie has often been plagued with) without showing outward signs of being "sick." Maybe the term "sick" is what's throwing everyone off.

Also, I posted this on Nancy's site regarding Stevie being sick and what that could mean to her voice:
I would have thought the same about Destiny Rules, I mean that song is sung so low. Yet, Cory said Stevie dropped DR because it was taxing her voice - go figure!!!!! Way back when, when I took voice lessons, my coach always told me it was the modulating effect that was taxing on the chords AND it is possible to sing a more taxing song or say a longer speech if the sounds made are not the sounds that tax you the most, etc. In other words, when singing SS, Stevie may have to hit a few notes that hurt her and those notes are not in other songs in the same octave. AND SS is sung in a higher key than almost any song I can think of in the set, with perhaps the exception of parts of Sara.
so - it could be that Stevie looks and feels fine - it is just that part of her voice is not cooperating with her.
In any event, no matter what is going on or how it is perceived, I wish her nothing but good thoughts and a speedy recovery!!!!!!!

I was right up there. It was a bit chilly. Lindsey was making an effort, blowing kisses at her, etc. But she seemed a bit pissed off at him, nothing major. During band intros, He blew kisses at her and she just looked at him. He said something to her and just rolled his eyes. Things were a bit frosty. The only time things were "sweet" were during "Landslide" when she went to kiss his hand and smooched right above his skin. (This makes me think that she is coming down with something) When they got really close during "Sara" and "SYW" either she or he covered their mouths and the other smiled. (I guess so she wouldn't get him sick). At the very end, they stood on the side of the stage together and Stevie put her arms around herself (with her shawl) and he stood behind her, put his hands on tops of her arms, leaned in and kissed the back of her head. I give Lindsey major points for trying to smooth over whatever fight is going on right now (if there is one).

They did their usual holding hands while walking on and off stage, rubbing one another's shoulders, singing towards each other, etc. If they're feuding they sure aren't letting it spill over to the concert. They were all smiles to one another all evening.
I could see Stevie having a bronchial infection though. You could tell her vocals just cut out a few times. She didn't sound strained by any means... though. I guess it's more of a subjective thing tho. She put on a just fine show.

Hmm, well, I'm not worried.
I figure that if they've been fighting, or if she's mad at him, she wouldn't turn around and act sweet towards him during some songs, nor would she sometimes smile at him.
And vice versa.
She might have been hot and a little under the weather, and therefore not looking entirely thrilled throughout the whole show.
And the crying... well, if my mom & aunts are any indication, tears are a regular occurance for menopausal women! ;)

I think it's a sore throat or perhaps the bronchial thing you all are talking about. I remember in the Rumours Japan video, Stevie putting her head in one of those steam machines. Perhaps, she needs one of those on this tour, or maybe she's using one.
Read that Lindsey had his boo boo taken care of. :)
My first show is in 26 days....surely, this sickness and stuff will be long gone, and SS will return. :)
Edit: Well, that last sentence made me sound like a beyotch. LOL I didn't mean to sound self centered, and I pray that Stevie gets rest and her sickness goes away soon!!!!

Debbie is doing great...And will be cancer free very, very soon.
But now the worry on my part starts. I have to undergo a medical procedure early next week to determine WTH is wrong with the soreness I am experiencing with my throat (And these @#$%^& choking episodes I am currently having).
Had a DR. appt today and my new DR. (Who's a frikkin' kid, I was thinking to myself "Gee, He's frikkin' Doogie Howser" when he entered the room...Man, I feel old now!) is very concerned with whatever it is.
Anyways, Back to the subject at hand...I hope Stevie's starts to feel better from whatever illness has is suffering from (Hopefully it's nothing more than a minor bronchial infection.)

i don't mean to sound like a b*tch at all... but, are you for real? is your middle name "assume" or something? how on earth can you possibly try to draw these conclusions about two people who might not even be fighting.. or might not be sick... or whatever...
this is how rumors get started... this is how big feuds get started... like the silver springs thread a couple days ago... suddenly someone on another board is going to post "merf posted on the ledge that stevie was sick and she and lindsey were avoiding each other and not having any contact so that he wouldn't get sick too" and then they'll say something like "well i'm not sure how she knows but i know she talked to Taku, so maybe he told her..." then suddenly the story is "Taku told merf that stevie is really sick" in which case suddenly the rumor is FACT to everyone because it supposedly came from a reliable source close to the band (Taku) and then at the next show stevie gets a deluge of get well cards and people offering to donate a kidney to her...
be careful what you say guys... these little assumptions are what cause our huge arguments... and divide the fans... we all love the same band... lets all just get along, ok?

I think part of the speculation is resulting from what happened during TISL and how sick Stevie got during that tour, resulting in cancelled shows, etc. I am seeing a show next week and just hope she is healthy for it. It does worry me to hear that Cory reported that Stevie was too "sick" to do SS. I would not call that a wild assumption, I consider her to be a pretty reliable source of what is or is not going on with Stevie.
If Stevie is sick, I am sure she would be concerned about spreading her germs to other band and crew members. I remember reading something she said once about how when "one of them are sick, they all get sick". Whatever is going on, I do hope that Stevie is taking care of herself. I was very impressed that during the entire first part of this tour, NO shows were cancelled due to band illness. That is pretty amazing!

He he. That's what I was thinking too. I'm sure they see a lot of weird crap up there, fans making fools of themselves and so forth, so they must get a good laugh at that once in a while. He probably was rolling his eyes about someone in the crowd.
Why do some people assume that whatever interaction between Stevie and Lindsey is taking place on stage has to relate to their supposed relationship? Seems weird to me.

I'm sure Stevie pays someone good money to make sure she doesn't look sick, regardless of whether she is or not.
It's difficult for any of us to really know and/or understand why Stevie isn't performing a certain song and if the word is that she's sick or that it's too taxing on her voice, then that's really what we have to take as the truth. Destiny Rules is a new song, it's a little fast, she may not be able to just do it like 'Rhiannon' or 'Gold Dust Woman' which she's being performing fairly consistently for 20-odd years.
Maybe people are paranoid about rumoured 'feuds' because of what Stevie said in the Destiny Rules documentary. Is this going to be the big one where she and Lindsey completely explode and walk away forever? I don't really see it happening, but none of us really (really) know their past or, for that matter, their present. It's touchy, that's all that can be said.
I don't think we need to jump all over anyone though--when you're up front you tend to be privy to things even people in the 3rd and 4th rows don't see, and since it's just a review, what are you supposed to say? EDIT: I semi-agree with the last post. It does seem like a lot of things boil down to are-they-in-a-relationship or aren't they as opposed to inside jokes and the like.
Relax ;)

Merf... I'm really sorry that my question lead to you getting grief about your response. I was curious to know what the onstage vibe was like, and I appreciated hearing your opinion.
For what it's worth, I didn't think your answer had the potential to be divisive... you made it clear (at least to me) that you were only describing the events as you saw them. Same with Louie's response to the same question. :)

I, for one, enjoyed your review. You are right this thread was about perception. If you are not allowed to post your opinions or your perception about what you saw, then what's the point? *walking into this thread on eggshells*
I have a few points to make:
1. I'm not a doctor, but I play one on TV - heh -Just because someone is ill, doesn't mean they are contagious. If Stevie had allergies or whatever, which then developed into bronchitis, she's not contagious. And after seeing 12 shows, I've witnessed Lindsey put his hand over his mouth a LOT, particularly when Stevie's doing the "snooooooow covered hills" part of Landslide. It's like a nervous habit with him, and totally predictable.
2. I work in a law firm - if you're going to claim you know the motive behind someone's non-verbal actions, you'd better have some proof. The National Enquirer also says bs like "according to a source..." Whatever. I'm not calling anyone here a liar, I'm just saying that sometimes, things are presented on the boards as FACTS, when they are merely speculation.
3. Taku had to register on Nancy's site, solely to defend his marriage over what a fan "thought" they heard him say...and spun it out of control for cryin' out loud! Please remember that the members of FM and their families are REAL people, not soap opera characters. After some of the sh*t I've read lately, if I were Taku, or Kristen, or Lindsey, I'd be seeking the advice of an attorney to see if I had enough evidence to sue for libel and slander. To reiterate Jessica's point: be careful what you say guys... these little assumptions are what cause our huge arguments... and divide the fans... we all love the same band... lets all just get along, ok? Welcome to Hollywood where the world is your microscope. This isn't STAR magazine. It's the internet. People talk. That's life. And it's even more a fact of life when you are propelled into the public eye either in being famous, being a friend of a celebrity or by being married to someone who is. I'm not saying it's right, wrong, or indifferent. It is what it is.
As far as Taku registering on Nancy's site, who's to say that he registered solely to defend his marriage? Do you know that as a fact because I don't. If you're going to claim you know the motive behind someone's actions, you'd better have some proof. And for the record, AS A FACT, I spoke with him when he walked out into the audience before the concert in Atlanta and said to him as I stood with Nancy, "I really hope you know that not everyone on that board is absolutely out of their mind."
I'm only responding to this to say the following to all of you that hate all of us who speculate: not everyone that posts on Buckingham Nicks is crazy. There are a few people who say things totally off base (a la the whole Stevie is Leelee's mother) and they're SO off base that it's what you remember about this group of people. Trust in me when I say we're all too well aware that these are real people with real feelings. The people who actually aren't crazy but do speculate tread lightly. I know they read these boards. I'm not stupid.

I highly doubt someone told him that people were discussing his marriage in a post on the Buckingham Nicks board on the internet and he hopped on to defend it. In my very honest opinion, I think we're all a little out of our minds for devoting so much time and energy to posting on message boards devoted to a music group.
I'm not saying anything against it... that would be the height of hypocrisy!... I'm just saying that it seems to me that most anyone on the outside, looking in on all of us and our debates, our quarrels, our passionate opinions, etc., would question our collective sanity.
Each group of fans thinks they're all right, so long as they don't act like the other group (whichever group it is that you happen to align with)...
but I think we're all a little off the beam, and we're better off to just admit it, and accept the differing eccentricities of our fellow fans.
Of course, some people will always take things to extremes, but then we all have our "thing" that other people will think we're crazy for. So no one's really better than anyone else, and anyone who thinks they are, is just fooling themselves. ;) :)

I remember after the "Detiny Rules" doc. on VH1 some people wrote that Lindsey and Mick were making faces while listening to Silver Girl. Some other people, including myself didn't see this. I think that our perception is affected by what we believe, and what we want to see. People who dislike Silver Girl might see what they think is dislike on the face of Lindsey or Mick and think "SEE, even THEY hate it!!!" I think sometimes that people who swear they see tension between Stevie and Lindsey can sometimes be too caught up in the drama of what their relationship was so they over examine everything looking for evidence. The truth is that any and all forms of communication, verbal and non-verbal can be misinterpreted.
I didn't see anything wrong with Merf's post; but I do think that Jessica Leigh's post was a bit ironic. I mean, she starts by saying "I don't want to be a b*tch and all, and then jabs Merf by saying "is your middle name assume", and then closes by saying "Let's all just get along, OK". Seems like we were doing just that. I usually think when people say "I'm not trying to be a b*tch", they should try harder. That's just my perception though. ;)

How or why Taku registered to post on Nancy's board is a complete assumption on all of our parts. People rail Merf for "assuming" and then come on and "assume" to know Taku's motives? Give me a break.
Who's Taku ???
as for the rest of this discussion, keep on going ;) Love it when two minor incidents turn into days of discussion and speculation :D Can't say I have that talent.

His motivation was quite clear. All you had to do was read his first post over there.
Revisionism is never a good idea, you know.

Maybe Taku is even checking out the ledgies! [waves to Taku]
I think it's great that somebody in that traveling circus knows how to use the Internet!

David what was your side of the arguement. I feel that Mick drags the song sometimes. Interested to know if I'm "all wet".

You can read all about this "problem" of Mick's in the following thread:

Boy, that's interesting. Intuitively, I got the sense when I saw the Behind the Mask concert, that something was a little off. It was probably Mick either speeding up or slowing down the tempo. At the time, I merely thought the beat was off occasionally.

Is that new to you all? Mick has done this his entire life as a drummer. He "floats, but still is a driving force. He just can't do it in another way. You even can hear it very clearly on "bleed to love her". Even in the studio he does that. I even think that's the exact reason why Lindsey loves him. He's a "feeler", not a machine.

He also has a disorder which renders him unable to play the same exact thing twice.....
Maybe that's a big part??

Not new to me at all, and LB hasn't always loved MF's drumming. Especially early on. LB even took drums on some tusk songs. I have to side with Mick however, after listening to LB's solo work I'll take Mick anyday.

The fact that lindsey played drums on some Tusk-songs has really NOTHING to do with his supposed lack of love for Mick as a drummer. We are not talking about Mick's behaviour as a bandmate though: I can understand that Lindsey wanted to be a zillion lightyears apart from Mick the lunatic in some times of their bandlife together. And that last remark about Lindsey's totally brilliant solowork: I agree to certain extend. I would pick Mick anyday, too. At last, on Gift Of Screws, Lindsey DID use Mick on his solostuff. But by then, the man was back on earth again using his sensibility as a musician again.
I can't think of ONE quote from Lindsey where he questions Mick's musicianship. I really think that Lindsey has always loved Micks drumwork. I remember him saying Mick's drumtake on WMYTYTO was the best thing he'd ever recorded. And as I recall, that was from the Tuskalbum.
