View Full Version : Deleted Posts: Ledge suffering from Mick board syndrome
CarneVaca

In the Sara thread, posts were deleted by a moderator because they were deemed somehow offensive. It feels like Mick's board all over again.
Are we back to the censorship on this board again? I thought things had been going pretty well (especially since I haven't been starting too many fights) for the last year or so.
It seems senseless to delete posts. I think that kind of thing belongs on Mick Fleetwood's board, not here.
Ledge members should speak up about this (even if you agree with deleting posts).

Unless the posts are EXTREMELY offensive in a sexual or insulting manner, I see no reason for any kind of censorship around here. Just because a post isn't of a popular opinion, it doesn't mena that it should be removed. That's the whole purpose of a discussion board. And it does belong on Mick's board, not this place (of all places).

One of the posts as I recall was merely making fun of some folks who attended a FM show.
I've seen far worse here over the past year. Seems to me there was a bit of overreaction.
As Jackie Chiles would say, "This is outrageous."

I didn't take the post to be rude, all he was saying was that he wished he could hear the song over the screaming fans. I believe we can have discussions without being censored, we are all adults, after all.
And there has been much worse. Much, much worse.

I agree. I think it would be helpful if the censor(s) explained what specifically about the post was offensive and why it was offensive. In other words, let's have a report quoting the offensive parts and explaining why the are offensive.
Anything short of that is just Rumsfeldian.
Who is running this board, Asscroft?
*damn* what did I miss? :]

*damn* what did I miss? :]
That's kinda how I feel. What exactly did I miss here? Because I don't remember seeing anything that bad. Someone posted some comments criticizing certain concert goers who seem to be more interested in talking and exercising their harmony (un)skills rather than listening. Evidently someone responded, and it was all considered unacceptable.

Carne's only complaining because, well, he's always been On The Wrong Side. (See his sig.) :wavey:

Always everyone's favourite Joe.
That sentence really requires a comma. Don't worry, you're from a foreign country. You'll pick up the local language soon enough. ;)

Always nobody's favourite Lux. Do you have any friends?

You're right of course.
Now, if I keep typing in big letters
Save Me a Place
Do you think they'll add that too?
Or am I just begging to be censored for unauthorized use of extra-large type?

I agree that moderators deleting posts should not be done. Even though I don't post much, I appreciate the freewheeling discussion that goes on here. I'd hate to think that people have to measure every single word before posting now.
In any event, deleting a post because it criticized people who attended a concert seems like going too far.

How audacious of you! I have four friends. One of them happens to be the intended subject of my first original post. It takes too much energy not to piss people off.
Have an inadequate and disagreeable day won't you?
1) I did not expect a serious answer.
2) How could I have missed those gorgeous joe-lux- I know i'm not wrong-aftershow-stories and then not pick up that you were friends?
3) To piss me off in the virtual world you have to come from another planet.
4) I am an inadequate person, slow and insufficient, and I love to disagree. So your wish is my daily routine. What I do have, is a sense of humour that not ALWAYS has to be underlined with emoticons. I was playing with your words.

I use them almost all the time. I said that humour NOT ALWAYS have to be underlined with emotions.
Oh, and thanks for the lecture. I didn't know that about emoticons and tone of words. I always thought that they were alterego's for big rockstars who sign in under weird names to hear about our music-percepyion so they could learn from us.

Lux - take Hawkeye's advice! Emoticons are a marvel. Say, for instance, that you want to flame someone but don't want want bad karma or deletion. Then simply add one emoticon, simmer till brown, and dress your personal attack with lashings of good humour. Here's one we prepared earlier:
You, sir, are a big-eared ninny-brain.
