Three thoughts for everybody:
Happy Mothers Day to the Ledgie Mamas!
Anybody do something special for the day?
- I am far from my family but will be talking later on Sunday of course. Sent a gift. Can't top last year: I flew in & my brother & I took her to the Mac concert.
Tell me about your mom.
- My mom is pretty amazing. Funny, strong, talented, smart, popular, friendly, energetic, and forgiving. I'm lucky to have her.

We probably won't do anything...we never do. My mom and I are like passing ships in the night so when we are home at the same time, we tend to stay out of each others way. As far as gifts go, she saw a pair of shoes she wanted so I bought them for her. She's obsessed with Simply Red and she's pretty sure they're about to go on tour (i have no idea) and expressed wanting tickets for that if they are so I might get those for her as well later on down the line. Her big gift (and mine) and my dads nightmare is that i'm leaving for three days

Thank you for the Mom's Day wishes Jake :wavey:
Your Mom sounds like an wonderful woman, and she's obviously done a fine job
My mom is my best friend. She may be approaching 60 but she's very youthful in spirit. We could find humor in just about EVERYTHING...which got us through some hard times and still continues to this day. She smart, funny, warm, kind, a friend to all. I'm very lucky to have her.
My husband took me out to dinner last night for Mother's Day and later on we will be going over my Mom's for a BBQ (hopefully the rain will hold off) and four generations will be together today!!
Happy Mother's Day to the Mom's :)

My mom has done the best she could...haha...circumstances were interesting for my sister and I growing up...and my sister is ten years older than I, but really my mom has done her best...and that's all anyone can ask of anyone...
She is proud of me and my sister and loves us...though sometimes has weird ways of showing it...and she has an issue with listening...like she doesn't lol...but she's the only mom I have...so I love her...and appreciate her and all she's done for me...because for sure the one thing I have learned is independence..and that's a great gift to have received from her...:)
I took her out a day early...we went to our city's Farmer's Market then to lunch at this really good local burger joint (I treated for Mom's Day) then I gave her a gift...'twas a good day indeed....

Well we already had Mothers Day in the UK. My lovely children made m cards and brought me flowers.
My own mother... well what can I say. Walked out on us when I was 3. Saw her again at 19 which was a disaster.... no contact since the birth of my daughter. Life sucks at times!

I lost my Mom about seven years ago....but she was a great. She was a total Old World Mom. She came here from Germany in the early Fifties, so that kind of explains it. She made the best pickles and jam in the world ! She baked bread. She knitted blankets, crocheted doilies (which thankfully weren't EVERYWHERE). She entered her blankets in the state and county fairs and won ribbons for them. She even made clothes for my Teddy Bear when I was little. Every year after I left home, she sent me a tiny Easter basket, and because I loved her fruit cakes (no comments from the fruit cake hating brigade!), she made me one of those twenty pound concoctions every Christmas. If I wasn't home, she would send the monster through the mail.
Her favorite band was the Moody Blues, and she also liked Culture Club.
During the War, she snuck food to the French POW's in her town. Her Mother, a big, tough old gal, once told an SS Soldier to get the hell off of her
property and slammed the door in his face. Don't ask me how she got away with that. Grandma also once beat the hell out of a neighbor woman with a shoe because the lady wouldn't stop her son from picking on my Mom and taking HER shoes from her while they walked to school. I come from tough stock.
My mom rocked !

My mom's great. She's only 32 years old and is expecting her 8th child this August which anyone could admire her for. She homeschools and basically has just devoted her whole life to us monsters. Her, one of my sisters, my youngest brother and I went to a the spring dance concert today at the local arts center which was pretty boring... then this morning the whole family went to the church's pancake breakfast after Mass. A fellow huge (10 kids!) homeschooling family was there as well and with all of us combined, there wasn't enough room in the church hall to sit down, so we had to move outside!! It was fun. :D

Well, I live with my mom but I did spend alot of my teenage years with my grandmother who was more like a mom (gram passed away in 1997 and she is still missed) Mom and I, there are sometimes awkward moments but for the most part we get on fine. I took her out to dinner on Saturday to avoid crowds on Sunday and I bought her these beautiful hot pinkish-purple roses. She seemed to enjoy it all.

My mom worked today, :( but I will see her on Tuesday and am taking her out to lunch. Also, I sent her some roses, candy and a teddy bear yesterday.
My mom is cool. She's very outgoing and loves people, (I'm the total opposite. LOL!!) is caring and compassionate. She also doesn't look or act her age. Some of you met her in Dallas last year. :)

My gift to my mother: I waited on her at my cafe.
My mother is a raving lunatic disguised in an average middle-aged woman's body. She hates FM and kicked me out of home for going to the conerts, then proceeded to accept me back home later in the afternoon. Obviously my mother would prefer that I appear dead to the world and show no interest in anything. She also believes the world will come to an end when I sleep in.
Damn, I knew any mention of mothers day would lead me into a rant. Stop it self.
Sorry to hear that. I hope you both have other family members to lean on when you need to.

They're bizarre...ESPECIALLY if there's no one else to take the focus off of you. If I had a sister or even a brother things would be much different i'm sure. Our personalities are totally 100% different and we just clash big time. We don't talk and she really doesn't know the real me and probably never will. She was cooler when I was younger but I think she was much happier back then.
Today was fine. We got along...I helped her in the yard for a few hours...we ate a quick lunch and watched some VH1 Classics...went and picked out flowers for the gardens...ate dinner and watched a movie together. Then, of course, we started fighting

That sounds like me and MY mom! Before she and my dad divorced, we were thisclose....actually, before she met a certain dumba$$ person who is now her best friend. Where is that vomit icon?!!! Anywho, yeah, when I was a teen, we would hang out, go to the mall together, we were like best friends, now......:( Love her to death, would give her both my kidneys if need be....but, the friendship is broken.
I'm an only child too, so I understand COMPLETELY.
There is NOTHING more difficult for an only child than to have your parents split/divorce because they both want you on THEIR side. :( SUCKS.

I had a friend whose birthday was May 9th, and that's Mothers day this year and she doesn't have her mother anymore. I thought about that all day:(
My mom is alive and kicking. I took her and my grandmother to Olive Garden. My mom is really different now from when I lived with her ( its been over 3 years) so it's just like being with a stranger somehow. Her and my grandmother are COMPLETELY different so watching them bicker is not too much fun.
But I got through it. I love my mom v. much and I hope she remains happy. That's all that matters.

Thank you for the Mothers Day wishes. I have a beautiful 5 year old (who is putting on fake lipstick on me and brushing my hair right now) :)
My mother and I are pretty close. I am an only child. My mom is a parent who "broke the cycle" of mental abuse that she suffered as a child. Her mother and I DO NOT get along. (I think at times that woman is Satan herself...) I have lots of respect for my mother for breaking this cycle. She did the best she knew how, and I think she did a fine job. For Mothers Day this year, I scheduled and paid for her to have a one hour full body massage. She goes tomorrow, and I hope she thoroughly enjoys it. For me, she let me have the weekend to go to the Madison show, and bought me a bath set. (and the gift that Sara bought me) This was my first Mothers Day without my late husband, so that was kind of hard. But I had a wonderful day none the less....
God bless all you Ledgie Mothers out there. Hope you all had a wonderful day.

My Mom is my best friend, I can tell her anything, we are really similar. She rides horses with me, listen to the same music, has a sarcastic sense of humor, is wonderfully artistic, mostly optimistic and just a great mom. She grew up in the 60s so her and my Dads (my dads is awsome too) parenting ideas were a bit odd, but hey it all worked out well. Most importantly my mom respects my life and my independence:) Sorry if all the sunshine and lite makes anyone a bit peeved but being and only child I just happen to get along great with both my parents.

Okay Jake you did ask so:
First my parents never said "no or don't" as far as drugs alcohol smoking etc went. Now my dad who did everything used to take me to the police booth at the fair point out each drug and tell me exactly what they did, and the results of each and how each was taken (from when I was 10 to when I was 13), to make sure I understood how my actions would affect me. I can tell you none of it sounded that wonderful, especially the not remembering things and seeing walls breath. As for drinking I was told to not get drunk with strangers since I could wake up in a strange place, and that no matter what to call home and no questions asked one of my parents would come pick me up. Of course there was also the "here try some of my drink", and I will say I find scotch, vodka and JD revolting. I rarely if ever drink and have never had the urge to get drunk, I find it more amusing to watch others. As for smoking I've got enough trouble with allergies.
As for the more positive stuff I was always allowed to watch whatever movies I wanted and listen to any type of music. I loved Madonna, Heart and Jefferson Airplane when I was little, picture a 5yr old singing "Magic Man" and "White Rabbit" and "Express Yourself." As for movies I loved Diehard, Bloodsport, Dirty Dancing etc. I also saw Married with Children and Melrose Place as a kid, loved both. I had no curfew (or as my dad said get home before 2am or I will think you are a robber and shoot you), and had a car at 17. I could basically do what I pleased, because of this I grew up having nothing to rebel against.
The only thing I had to do was get good grades, and as I understood this was more to my benefit then theirs, so I automatically did this. I was also always treated as an adult member of the family, I always got asked my opinions on all major decisions, I may not have won the argument, but at least I got to have it.
So I am now a happy young adult who loves both her parents, loves spending time with them, loves their music and is taking them both to see Madonna, and last year took both to see FM.

The of course there are those that are just waiting for me to get in trouble, but then again you can't please eveyone can you?
