I'd be happy to send someone a copy to put on their site! It will probably be the same old, same old questions. Here you go:
CNN: "So, Rumours was a terrific album....sold millions of copies."
LB: "Yep."
CNN: "You are on tour with Fleetwood Mac now, correct?"
LB: "Well, not quite yet, the tour starts this Satur...."
CNN: "Right. You'll be singing lots of hits from Rumours?"
LB: "Yes, we'll be singing some, but we'll also be singing music from our new album, Say You...."
CNN: "Stevie Nicks is your former lover?"
LB: "Well, yes, we have a good friendship now."
CNN: "That's all the time we have, thank you LindsAy Buckingham."
LOL! You've got it down, Christy.

ARRRGHHHH!!!!!!
I'm actually glad that my VCR messed up and didn't record it.
Lindsey began with the "reconvening of these people" statement and it all went downhill from there. It wasn't Lindsey's repetitiveness that ticked me off, it was comments like these from the interviewers:
Interviewer guy: "You know, when I go see you, I want to hear the classics like I remember them. I know there is the temptation to change those up.... [inane blabbering about interviewer's high school and 8-tracks of Rumours] or do you realize people want to hear the songs they remember?"
Blondie: "Rumours is the one I remember."
I WANT set list changes! BITE ME, losers! I better not see them in Atlanta.
P.S. Lindsey and Stevie looked TERRIFIC and I'm pleased Lindsey notices all the young people in the audience.

Also, he noticed that there were lots of twenty-somethings in their audience during this tour!!

CNN is not Headline News. HN is a different CNN McNews channel.
But, watch carefully this afternoon, as they usually repeat these interviews every hour or two (today). ALTHOUGH (I watch alot of Headline News), for those who missed it, they often reshow their entertainment interviews during the following weekend.

The Research Pitch: Between 18 And 34 Reasons To Buy MTV
By Paul J. Gough
Staff Writer
Wednesday, May 05, 2004
At its upfront presentation tonight, MTV Networks is expected to reveal new research showing that it's the prime beneficiary of the falling numbers of adults 18-34 at most of the broadcast networks.
MTV Networks saw its 18-34 delivery jump 12 percent in the fourth quarter of last year compared to the same period a year earlier--the highest of only two networks that had double-digit gains in gross ratings points in the period.
According to the Nielsen Galaxy research, The WB dropped 18 percent in GRPs, ABC fell 11.7 percent, and NBC dropped 9.2 percent. Disney's GRPs in the demographic were flat, Fox's were up almost 1 percent, and Discovery's rose 4.6 percent. Only Turner's rose comparably--up 10.7 percent, according to the data to be released by MTV.
That doesn't tell the whole story, said Betsy Frank, MTV Networks' executive vice president of research.
"The broadcasters didn't just lose ratings, but they actually lost reach across their prime time schedules," Frank said. She said it's a problem not only of viewers tuning out the networks, but also of not bothering to tune in at all--and a problem of viewers losing confidence and trust in broadcast's ability to deliver the entertainment they crave.
That's where MTV Networks comes in with its new slogan: Consumer connection, advertiser advantage. It builds upon Intermedia Advertising Group research presented at last year's upfront that found that MTV Networks score highest on relevancy, connection, and trust.
Frank said that the research presented tonight points to MTV Networks as a place that makes a deep connection with its viewers.
"People are losing trust in institutions, and people are looking for brands they can always depend on--trust. Our viewers believe we're telling them the truth and are honest," Frank said. That's not just MTV or VH1, but across all the networks, she said.
"MTV Networks is all about the consumer," said Bob Bakish, the company's chief operating officer for advertising sales. Bakish said that the networks invest in research that finds out what the demographics are looking for-- not only on television, but also how they consume media--providing a deeper understanding of its viewers.
Wednesday's event will be MTV Network's second full upfront presentation. Last year's event was a star-filled, high-energy presentation that included performances by Elton John and Kid Rock, as well as appearances by Jewel, Paris Hilton, P Diddy, and Ozzy Osbourne, among others. This year's event will include John Stewart, Jessica Simpson, and Nick Lachey, and performances by Alicia Keys and Fleetwood Mac.

I cut out most of the uhhh's, you know's and various stutters from LB and the CNN dude.
GYOW plays as they show Dance-era practice footage
CNN: There for awhile, the members of Fleetwood Mac did go their own way, but they got back together last year for a new studio album, and now there's a new tour on the way, and a new live CD and DVD coming as well. And here to talk more about that is the Mac singer, songwriter, guitarist, Lindsey Buckingham joining us now live from New York. We're so glad to have you here. Thanks for being on Headline News.
LB: It's good to be here.
CNN: At least, if anything, this proves that last year's reunion album, Say You Will, was not a one shot thing. You've got all this activity coming up, it's gonna be a busy summer for you. Did you miss the band members, the crowds, the music, what?
LB: Well, I think you, you know, the reconvening of this group of people was more about just fate. A series of circumstances led us to this and the significant thing is that we're enjoying it alot more than we were able to before. We're all come through the other side of our various struggles, and we're just friends now. We're having a great time.
CNN: That kinda gets into my next question, that alot of the baggage from getting the band going and struggling through and having all of this great success and then seeing the rollercoaster of fame and all of this pop stardom, that maybe the pressure is off maybe more than ever.
LB: Well, it is, yes, and obviously, there was a certain [shows Dance era footage again] kind of convolution that took place in terms of having couples that were breaking up within the band at that time, kind of exercises in denial you might say, so yeah, we're having a better time than we've ever had.
CNN: Sounds like. I'm gonna try to make it to the show here in Atlanta. When I go, I'm gonna wanna hear, the old favorites, you know, Rumours, was a very big high school album for me and I'm dating myself right now, [LB laughs] but I'm gonna wanna hear the songs the way I remember hearing them when I had the 8 track playing in my car. I know that there is the temptation to wanna change things up because you've played these songs so many times and I'm wondering how you go about making those decisions about are we gonna try to throw some changes into Go Your Own Way or some of the other classics or do you realize that people wanna hear them the way you played them?
LB: Well, I think the way you introduce newness into the show isn't so much about changing the classics up, it's about striking a balance between the old material and new material. So, we have a pretty healthy selection of songs from the Say You Will album, but you don't wanna screw around too much with the old songs, those are pretty much the same as they've always been.
CNN: I mean we're talking about, looking at some off the DVD and CD, Dreams, Rhiannon, Come, Big Love, Landslide, Silver Springs, Stand Back Go Your Own Way. You've gonna get a pretty good mix here, as well as introducing folks to Say You Will, which brings me to my next question. Are you getting a good mix of folks who have been with you since the very beginning and maybe some younger fans are just now learning about Fleetwood Mac.
LB: Well, yes, we're very surprised, well, maybe not THAT surprised, but when we were touring, before, a few months ago, there were alot of I hate...I hesitate to say kids, but relatively speaking [They both laugh], alot of 20 year olds out there. I think they've rediscovered what we're doing and seem to find it fresh in the context of what's going on today, so that's nice to see.
CNN: Well, they're gonna get more chances to rediscover Fleetwood Mac this summer. This tour starts this weekend, I believe, in Madison, Wisconsin and then June 15th, the release of Live in Boston, deluxe CD and DVD package. Lindsey Buckingham, good luck with everything this year with Fleetwood Mac and thank you for being here today.
LB: Pleasure being here, thank you.
CNN (lady) to CNN (guy): If it's any consulation, Rumours is the one I remember.
CNN (guy): High school....
PFFFTTT!!! I know more about the CNN moron's teen life than I do about Fleetwood Mac's tour/album.
Thanks for the transcript, Christy.

If I was Lindsey I would've hit the interviewer over the head with his guitar when he said that crap about wanting to hear the songs the way they were. I'd like to have seen LIndsey's face when he said that. Does anyone have any pictures from the show.

The way I see it is that no matter what happens we are always going to have people talk about the Rumours and virtually ignore the other albums. I mean Rumours is a classic but they made other albums too. Iwish these reporters would stop asking these inane questions about the drugs sex and booze and breakups. We know all that already. Give us something fresh.
