Hawaii - The Big Island

I know John often sails to Hawaii - and Mick and Stevie have often vacationed there - as has Joni Mitchell and Crosby Stills and Nash - but really - this is totally off topic re: Fleetwood Mac.

I'm planning on going to the Big Island this summer and wondered if anyone has any suggestions for things to do, places to stay.

I enjoyed staying in Kona a lot...but DON'T stay at the Kona Surf (it's a long story). If you get the chance, go snorkeling in Kealakekua Bay (I don't know if I spelled that right...it's where Captain Cook was shot).
