View Full Version : Aisle Or Window Seat?

I'm assuming nobody here likes the scunched seats in the middle when flying.

I like an aisle seat towards the front. If there's a hell, it probably involves a plane ride with a kid kicking the back of your seat and a plane landing where you're stuck in the back of a hot plane while the doofuses (doofi?) in the front take forever to clear off.

Which seat do you prefer?

I love window seats...I like to just stare out of the window at all that lies below...and just daydream and drift off in my thoughts...it's a little less fun when it's cloudy...but I love the window...hate the aisle...ugh..I have to fly this Saturday....I'm really hoping I get a window seat!!

I hate having to wake folks up to get out or reach across them to get food, plus the window seat has less leg room. The view doesn't do anything for me. I always end up sitting over the wing (gremlin that I am), so I can't see squat anyway.

I purchased a plane ticket through Travelocity about a month ago. You get to pick where you want to sit. I'm near the front...and on the aisle.

I've only flown twice, and on the way over, I had a window seat. VERY cool for a first time flyer as I loved looking out until it got dark. :( Then, on the way home, I got bumped up from Coach (thank GOD!!) and had a terrific aisle seat. When it's a very long flight (over was about 7 hours, coming home was like 9), I recommend an aisle seat since your legs feel like CRAP if you don't move. Also, pee breaks are good. :) I loved British Airways.

Aisle seat, no question.....

Easy to get up and far more room to move those legs...

neither. I will not ever step foot in an airplane, not for a fear of terrorists, but from knowing how <b>some</b> were trained to work on these "<b>oversized s--t carriers</b>".

Let's put it this way, The Tech School I attended back in 1990-1991 was an aeronautical school that also had QC/NDT courses which are my speciality (The QC/NDT courses were not regulated by the FAA as were all the other courses offered. QC/NDT courses were regulated by ASNT)...A well known school in Oklahoma that has been linked with specifically training 2 of the 9-11 hijackers.

I look at it this way, if I end up dying on a plane, at least I died happy. I love flying. And I always try to get the window seat. I haven't yet had the opportunity to go on a really long flight (cross-country or overseas) yet, but I might consider an aisle seat just so I could move around. The great thing about being short is that I don't need a whole lot of room to stretch my legs!

I always ask for the window seat. I love to look out the window and see the view. I usually don't get up to go to the bathroom so I don't need to be on the aisle.

Tip: If they seat you in front of the cockpit, it's not a good thing, Marissa.

it's a privilege to see the land or the clouds, no matter if it is cloudy... I love to see the sky and dream

Yes, the bad part is when you want to stand up, go to the bath, and your neighbor is sleeping, or not but anyway you feel bad about asking him to move..

Aisle seats are more comfort, however... if you want to sleep, window seat is fat better. You can rest lying on the cushion putting it on the wall.. On aisle seats they sometimes knock accidentaly your seat and you wake up. I hate when that happens. Specially when they serve food, the food car always knocks the aisle seats.

And I think everybody hates middle seats, no doubt

I just flew Lima-Miami-London-Delhi-London-MAdrid-Miami-Lima (I jsut arrived from vactions!). All flights windows seats... It was great.

American planes have more space for legs. It's very good, though British Airways service is far better.. among other things, wine is free, ha haaaa!!!!

dear lord! the worst thing to kick off a holiday is regreting ever taking it. some of the worst hours in my life included a plane seat and crying babies (others included ones with neighbours from a certain country known by its residents' tendencies to wear perfumes instead of bathing).
it's not that i think kids shouldn't be allowed to fly, i just think they must be sedated before they board the plane.

my tip for an excellent (and a little longer) flight is a space cookie. you eat it when you get to the airport, and then by time it's effective you are already finished with all the arrangements and ready to REALLY fly. you won't believe how exciting and fun a flight can get this way. you just have to make sure you eat the correct amount, coz getting to location still high (security checks, carrying heavy luggage...) ain't so fun.

Better still there's gotta be some room in the cargo hold for them? Put them down there with the animals and let the rest of us get a quiet, knee in the back of the seat free journey....

I'll never be the same after a 9 hour flight from Barbados to London last year.. Two hyperactive Austrian children in front of me that seemed to start dancing in their seats every time I ordered a drink, an all night party in the seats to the right of me and parents that can't control their kids behind me, little ba***rds... All we needed was a few chimps and Liam Gallagher to make it a full house..

Though I dislike flying, I always try for the "escape hatch" aisle seat.
Usually not many kids around those either. I would never pop for first class seats, but I would pay first class prices for a flight free of kids under 12. Or at least free of infants.

:P j/k, those plane pillows are pretty gross. And not particularly comfy. YOu need to buy one of those inflatable head/neck cushions.
On the way over to Japan we ended up dozing and when my friend woke up she'd spilt green tea all over the cushion. So if you're flying JAL and get a particuarly bad-smelling cushion, there's your explanation!

LOL...I did the exact same thing...except it wasn't on the cushion...it was on my friend Lauren...not to mention, I dropped a piece of cake in her shoe. We were flying on Lufthansa into Europe and there were 3 sections of seats...2 on the left side of the plane, 4 or 5 (can't recall) seats in the center and then 2 on the right side. On the way there, I was so uncomfortable. I was sitting in between Lauren and my friend Stephanie who is a fairly large girl. My leg was sort of jammed underneath hers and for 7 1/2 hours, I sat stiff as a board. Also, this really obnoxious French girl was sitting in front of me and kept leaning back in her chair and then she would stand up and lean overtop of the chair and talk to her friend. HELLO... get up and MOVE To talk.

As I recall, we all recieved pillows, blankets, and earphones. I'm fairly certain all three were wrapped in plastic bags. Now, as far as them having been used before, who knows? But they appeared to be clean...and a few people on the trip took their pillows and blankets off the plane.
