Greetings again, everyone! My name is Todd Stephens, and I'm the writer & director of the film GYPSY 83, which (FINALLY!) opens starts its theatrical run in NYC on April 16th. It was actually message boards like this that inspired the film in the first place, so I thought it might be fun to say Hi!."

Would be honored and delighted to answer any questions about GYPSY or my other film, EDGE OF SEVENTEEN if anyone was interested. (and YES, I plan to name ALL of my films after Stevie songs, lol :)

By the way, I also want to personally invite everyone to a very fun Stevie gathering we're doing here in New York on April 17th. You can find all the details at www.stevie-nicks.info/gypsy83/premiere.html (thanks, Daniel!).

Say hello...

Todd

Hey Todd! I'm excited finally to be able to see the movie. Unfortunately I don't live anywhere near New York or else I'd love to attend your Stevie gathering. Have a good time. :)

Hi Todd!

I would like to ask if there's any chance of a release date for Gypsy 83 here in the UK - We'd love to see it at Fireflies UK!

Hi Todd!

I can't wait to see the movie! I still haven't seen Edge of Seventeen, but it's on my list... And, just so you know, if you keep naming movies (or books or comic books or even types of toilet paper) after Stevie songs/lyrics, I'll happily and proudly see them!!! (Yes, I'm just that obsessed and weird  )

The only thing I'd like to ask is regarding why none of Stevie's actual music is in the film. Copyright/royalties issues? Reluctance (or worse) on Stevie's part?

I'm sure you wanted to use the actual songs. And given that Stevie wrote in the Enchanted liner notes that the songs she had given to other movies always got buried or disappeared in the film (or something to that effect), why wouldn't she want her songs out front, blaring through the theater for everyone to enjoy? Especially when she and her music are basically a character in the film, not to mention a driving plot point...

If you ever get her ear for a moment (or get it again), please tell her about the people like me. I sneaked out of my room at 3:00 a.m. when I was about 12 years old to watch Heavy Metal on Cinemax just to hear "Blue Lamp" because I couldn't afford to buy the 2-record soundtrack. I also snuck into the theater when Fast Times at Ridgemont High was out, just to hear "Sleeping Angel". I actually paid admission to see the loathsome American Anthem and bitter Sweet November to hear "Battle of the Dragons" and "Touched By An Angel". I yelled out loud in the theater when "Twisted" was wasted on a car stereo speaker in Twister, and I WALKED OUT OF THE THEATER when I couldn't even hear "Somebody Stand By Me" because of the clinking dishes and diner chatter in the scene in Boys On The Side. And let's not forget Practical Magic -- I saw it at least 4 times, just to hear "Crystal" and the orchestral theme that played off of it!

Thanks for listening! Can't wait to see the film!

:D

Hi Todd... I just wanted to comment on 'Edge of Seventeen.'
A friend sent me a copy of it right around the time when I had first come out, and it really moved me, and reflected many of the things I was struggling with.

Plus, I don't live all that far from Sandusky, Ohio... so the film hit close to home in that aspect as well.

Excellent film... kudos! :)

thanks, Golden Braid! that's one of my fave stevie songs, by the way. my boyfriend tim has always wanted to perform it at night of 1000 stevies but never gotten up the nerver :)

Hi Todd,

First of all I am glad I will finally be seeing Gypsy 83 next month. Are there any special events planned for L.A.? I was hoping there would be some fun events happening.
