Ask him to say Hi to all the Ledgies!
LOL!! Just kidding.
I hope you get through, Pwyll!!!!!!!
I got through with my question but apparently him commenting on EFO and the sound of the song and how different it is than anything else they've done wasn't good enough.... the "screener" guy said that since the song was written by Stevie that he wouldn't be able to comment really. Whatever. I just wanted to get his take on it, not on what it meant! LOL!!!!
He said "Call back if you've thought of something else!" The screeners are doing a good job of filtering I suppose.

Someone from TN called and asked about the upcoming PBS special: Fleetwood said there are 2 versions of the Boston concert: A long and a short. June 17th it will air on PBS. June 15th the Boston DVD concert will be in stores as this club confirmed before..... :)
Buckingham is going to get his solo collection out on the open market, one way or another. The group together is definitely going to do another album..... :)

touring is different today than in 1968, when they drove trucks, set up gear, like Jethro Tull, early Cream. FM basically worked for nothing then. that was rock bottom, with 3-4 people in a hotel room.
the band today is trained like racehorses. when they go on the road they click into all disciplines. they have their own plane. they don't stay up all night drinking.
mick and lindsey now have families on the road. "it's like a circus" he says - with kids and animals. mick has two older daughters, and two little ones whom "dad" gets to read stories to. nowadays they (the band ?) go see art museums and things.

Mick also said they are going to do some of the more obscure songs from Tusk.
And he also said there should hopefully be new music sometime in the future and that they are not going to take forever to create new music since they aren't getting any younger. He added that Lindsey definitely has some music that he wants to get out. :blob1: :blob2:

Interesting about the CAMBRIDGE SOUND SYSTEM. How Fleetwood met a bass player he didn't know extremely well, when the guy arrived in New York and they were both looking for their bags. ....Fleetwood asked what this guy was carrying around with him -- which was no bigger than 5 ciggie packs put together>>> It fit into an attache case......
Fleetwood now carries around a Model 12 which can be applied to computers and is a great system. He takes it on the road with him all the time. .....
Great to hear about future releases, as well! THANK YOU, MICK!

Gerald, that has been one of my ongoing fantasies for a few months.
But at the risk of being a party pooper, keep in mind the source: Very little of what Mick says ever comes to fruition. If we hear from Lindsey's mouth that he is going to release his solo material, that will be more credible.
Lindsey has a wonderful opportunity to get his unused solo songs out even if he doesn't do an album. His management should get in touch with Apple and release the songs through iTunes. He could do a song a week for a few months. That would be exciting.

I feel like I'm the only one who was hanging out for a new Fleetwood Mac album! :( lol
Solo albums? Solo tours? It's the same old story since after Tusk. Another 5 years? These guys don't have 5 years to spare! :distress: The only rationale I can pull from this (IMO) bad news is that Stevie must have a solo album obligation, and since that will take time and Lindsey wants to work together with her on the next FM project, he will be able to 'offload' the GOS/SYW backlog in a solo project of his own (a solo album coming about 10 years after the first track was laid!), thus leaving something of a clean slate for material to go on the next FM album. I *hope* that their is a rationale along these lines and they're not just 'falling back into the cycle', if you will, of indulging in solo ventures followed by eternally delayed and 'mixed-bag' FM releases.
Given everything that Mick, Lindsey, and also Stevie, have said, in the DR doco etc, about the future of FM, I hope/assume that this solo 'deviation' is a one-off for (a) Stevie to honour her solo commitments (what was it - about 2 more albums incl TISL?), and (b) for Lindsey to finally get all the officially unreleased stuff from after OOTC out of the FM equation and into our CD-drives/iPods.
Meanwhile, I can console myself that whatever Lindsey puts out will be largely 'Fleetwood Mac' in my eyes... take 'Down On Rodeo' for instance. If that's not the Mick and Lindsey chemistry of Fleetwood Mac then what is.

After all, Lindsey's the guy who told us, in 1997, that he had a solo album that was "more than half way finished," and then in 1998, told us that the album would be released by the end of the year.
And we all know what happened with that.
He also told Musician Magazine in their February 1989 issue, that his upcoming release could be a "quadruple" because he had "about 60 songs" ready for the album, which Musician reported would be released later that year.
We ended up getting thirteen songs (not counting the spoken & instrumental introductions) three years later.
So whether the info comes from Mick or Lindsey, it's probably still about as reliable.
But here's to hoping we DO see a new solo album from Lindsey... AND one from Stevie... AND a new Fleetwood Mac album.

Tongue in cheek, Johnny. Did you really believe he was going to release 60 songs in one shot?Well, of course the "quadruple album" comment was an exaggeration ( An exaggeration from Lindsey? I thought only Stevie was prone to that! ), but he did add that he had "60 songs" to choose from.
Now that was quite probably his second exaggeration in a row... but the question from Musician was whether the album could possibly be a double, and these were Lindsey's answers.Originally posted by CarneVaca

Consider the source indeed.Mick's book has nothing to do with this particular conversation, as that was written for money and sensationalism... all I was stating was that, as far as comments regarding potential releases and release-dates, Lindsey has shown himself to be about as reliable as Mick's comments on the same topic.
So if we're "considering the source," then I wouldn't believe Lindsey stating that he was releasing a solo album within six to twelve months (for example), any more than I'd believe Mick making the same claim.

This is the classic LB is an artist first (and I do think he is a brilliant one at that) but and unlike SN, he needs FM to release his solo work on a commercial level for a variety of reasons.
Please do not take this as a slam to LB, I am just stating what happened and has happened. I like LB.

Not necessarily, Johnny. Considering the amount of time it took him to release the album, and considering his hermit existence at the time, it's entirely plausible. Good artists always have far more songs than they can fit in a album.
Mick's book has nothing to do with this particular conversation, as that was written for money and sensationalism...
Uh... Sorry, I don't buy that. We're talking about someone's credibility. I bring up the very relevant fact the man wrote a book full of lies and half-truths, and you dismiss it because it "was written for money and sensationalism." If writing something for money and sensationalism without regard for the facts doesn't erode one's credibility, I don't know what does. Frankly, I'm having trouble even believing you could possibly hold that position. It doesn't make sense.

Of course every time Lindsey mentions a time frame for releasing an album you should take it with a grain of salt. Experience has taught us that. Experience has also taught us that Mick lies a lot and most of what he says is going to happen just doesn't happen. And experience has taught us that Mick's and Lindsey's credibility and are nowhere near each other. I think the documentary provided ample proof of that.
And let's not forget, Johnny, Mick was the one to plant the thought back around the time of the Dance that Lindsey was about to finish his solo album and that Mick was going to tour with Lindsey to promote it. Lindsey's sort-of confirmation came later. Mick needs to learn to shut up. When he says something is going to happen, the fans start expecting it to happen. When it doesn't, people get disappointed.

I'm not saying that he isn't to be believed on anything else he ever says... just that even if Lindsey himself states that he's releasing an album, I'm not going to believe him any more than I would believe Mick making the exact same statement.

Mick needs to learn to shut up. When he says something is going to happen, the fans start expecting it to happen. When it doesn't, people get disappointed. And Lindsey hasn't done the same thing by promising the release of music that either comes years later or not at all?
That's not raising the hopes of his most ardent fans, only to set them up for disappointment?
I guess we're supposed to just chalk that up as one of Lindsey's cute little quirks... "Oh, that whacky L.B., and his 'Lindsey time'!"... and all should be forgiven. ;)
(And for the record, in the case of Mick's statements to the press that 'Say You Will' would "definitely" be a double-album... those comments were made by Mick at that point in time, because the band had finally all agreed to releasing it as such. It was Lindsey who later changed his mind, therefore invalidating the promise Mick had already made to the fans... and therefore leaving us disappointed once again.)

While I agree with your assessments of LB's overall flakiness and the fact that he's prone to very typical artistic behaviour, I think that LB might have been persuaded to get rid of the double album idea in the end. Maybe the band stood behind it at one point but the managers talked them out of it.
If he was persuaded to not go with the double album then it might have been that someone in the band was playing the hardball with Lindsey. Not too different from Lindsey wanting to take the 3/4 of his material away from the project. Maybe Stevie actually threatened to pull out after 40 dates if the album was a double; it wasn't just her health issues.
All I'm saying is: I don't buy into all that "drop-dead honesty" that Stevie and Karen Johnston are supposed to have, and neither do I buy into it with Lindsey's case. But I do think that LB seems to think these things from the emotional artistic viewpoint at first, and then later on starts to reconsider some facts. His idealism may be occasionally misguided but I daresay that the band needs someone with that attitude.
about those "60 songs", wouldn't surprise me if that meant a handful of songs, but five-ten versions per song.. not that I would mind, of course;)

As a Mac fan, of course I know all about taking release dates with a grain of salt (though the trusting/optimistic side of me still would like to believe that they can actually release an album sometime within the span of an entire year, when they claim they will, or at the very least, not three years later)... but all I was trying to point out was that Lindsey is no less guilty of that, than anyone else.
So whether the promise of a new release comes from Mick's mouth, or Lindsey's, it still seems to have about an equal chance of happening when they claim it will, if at all.
To believe otherwise... well, then, I guess I'm not the only one who can be naive from time to time. :) :)

Sometimes these discussions get way beyond silly. If you think Lindsey's and Mick's credibilities are at about the same level, power to you. I know better.
Gee, it wasn't too long ago this board was insufferably full of threads with nothing but complaints about Mick and his fan club schemes. Have you forgotten about that?

I certainly haven't. Actually, I was quite amazed at the quick turnaround from everyone thinking Mick was the anti-christ to seeing people participate in a Mick appreciation thread.
Hey, it's okay to forgive Mick for his extortion schemes because he's a part of Fleetwood Mac (ooooh!), but it's justice if Martha goes to jail for saving $45,000. ;)

Mick is Mick and Lindsey is Lindsey. The truth is that both of them are guilty for making comments regarding future FM / Solo releases that either never come out or are released way pst the original release date. We must stop expecting the truth when it comes to this matter. I figure when you actually have the new album(s) in your hand or you have seen a new setlist for the concert you attend then you can say it DID happen. But until then just take anything they say with a grain of salt.

(Ok, this gave me some hope anyway.) :)
i doubt it, at least for me....if they're putting in 6 different songs for this leg, that's good enough for me. The possibility that they're doing "Sara" (and hopefully that it follows through on tour) is enough for me. DLMDA is also another bonus. But a couple of others that are "obscure" just totally restored my faith in them.
I wasn't going to see them this time around....I have opportunites to see them at 4 different venues. That's an added bonus of living on the outskirts of NYC. Anyway, I told myself that if they do "Sara" then i'm definately going, even if that was the only song they added. I also said that if they don't do "Sara", but change the set somewhat then i'll consider going.
So, it looks like i have to fork some money over for tix. I still can't believe this....I actually didn't want to have to see them again this time around. I saw them 3 times last year and spend about $500 that i didn't have. And i have it this year but i really needed it for other things. I never thought i'd say this but, "i wish they'd play the same ole set list!"

(And the same can be said of me too, anyway.) :) Well, I can't deny being a fanboy at heart.
But then, aren't we all? I mean, we're all here spending inordinate amounts of time on an internet message board dedicated to a pop/rock band... so I'm not alone in that charge. :)
But I'm not just a Stevie fanboy, or a Fleetwood Mac fanboy... I'm a Lindsey Buckingham fanboy and a Christine McVie fanboy, and so on and so on.
So if you're separating me from the LB Fanatics, Gaius, then you're wrong, because I'm an LB Fanatic too.
In my opinion, there's no greater guitarist than Lindsey Buckingham, and even though (as you know) there are LB songs that I like less than others, I can't name you a single song that I genuinely hate.
And even if it might not look that way on this board, I talk Lindsey up every chance I get. I make "best of Lindsey Buckingham" CDs for friends, and I play his new stuff for them (when we get new stuff), and I can't tell you how many people for whom I've played clips such as the 'Mirage Tour '82' video of "The Chain," and rave to them about how mind-blowing it is that Lindsey is playing two and three guitar parts all by himself at the end of that song, and how under-rated he is.
However... when I see double-standards, such as accusing one member of Fleetwood Mac for doing something that Lindsey does too, but finding reasons to forgive only Lindsey for it, or finding ways to ignore the fact that Lindsey does it too, then I'm going to point out the discrepancy.
Lindsey is wonderful, and amazing, and brilliant, and all of the other positive adjectives one can think of... but there's absolutely no reason to denigrate the other members of Fleetwood Mac in order to try and make Lindsey look better.
It's not fair or reasonable, and I'll cry foul every time I see it happening. If that causes people to mistakenly assume that I'm any less of a Lindsey fan, then so be it. :)

Seriously, I think all of the FM members say things with the best of intentions, but situations change. A good example would be La Nicks awkening from her Klonopin haze and discovering she did not like Street Angel as recorded. So, despite its release date, she had to redo a significant portion of it, which delayed it. So, I do not think they are full of bull when they sau things. I think they believe it when they are saying it, etc.
Mick, however, is a little different to me because I think he says things the way he wants them to be or at least the way he wants them to be while negotiating for them a la the double record promise to LB and then it turns out what he said was never really the case or at least it was not set in stone.

Johnny, I think we started going off in slightly different directions. Your point is well taken. I have grown accustomed to "Lindsey time" when it comes to releasing albums. You say why should Mick be any less credible on album release projections. Fair enough. But if you go back to my original post, my comments about Mick's credibility weren't limited to that alone. I was addressing how a lot of what Mick says turns out to be not true.
I think Mick is a bit of a liar, and I don't necessarily think it's necessarily malicious. I wouldn't put Lindsey in that category.
It's no big deal. If you think Lindsey and Mick are at the same level in lacking credibility, then we'll just disagree.

The FAQ speaks of personal insults, not of other discussions on the personal side if common sense is used. It may say “don’t let the discussions get personal” but in the end this is all about our personas. It’s various points made by the other side that can often forget the counterarguments and then another side brings them up. No one here is objective or speaking as the ultimate representative of the band especially when it’s generally thought that the members themselves aren’t adequate in such roles. To analyse the content of the argumentative posts and to get something out of it one must also keep in mind the person one is talking to.
‘T was a joke anyway, and I think I’ve been here long enough to have some understanding of what one can say to Johnny Stew and what one can not.

Generally Mick has been insulted in other threads too and he hasn’t been compared to any other band member in those. I haven’t seen you answering to any of those but correct me if I’m wrong. Yet you chose to answer to one where he is compared to Lindsey Buckingham. Now are you really that concerned in the equality between the band members? Why is it the threads that discuss also Lindsey Buckingham that you choose to answer to? Have some Buckheads here gone beyond the obnoxious then? Is it an intentional Nicksheads’ plot to keep the radical fanaticism down so that in ten years’ time the attitudes will be changed and then they can say that Stevie Nicks doesn’t have the rapidest foam-in-the-mouth following, Lindsey Buckingham does? ;)
It’s just that I’m not buying into your “equality to all members” thing like I’m not buying into it in my own part. No one here is any more objective than the others and the things people say tell me as much of them as the things they don’t say.
What bothered me here originally was the suggestion that Lindsey has the pedigree of letting the fans down:
It was Lindsey who later changed his mind, therefore invalidating the promise Mick had already made to the fans... and therefore leaving us disappointed once again.
It doesn’t feel too harsh in context but I felt irritated by it myself.

Nancy, I was joking with that one. I realize it sounds condescending but I guess some people already understand my penchant for rude humour in the middle of these self-centred analytical rants. :)
And you also know that I’m a Stevie fanboy too. Hey, I’d be her groupie if I could in spite of her solo records being more mainstream than I’d like them to and in spite of all that supposedly anti-Nicks talk that I have the habit of getting into. The woman moves me like no other as a performer. She has incredible radiant charisma around her that no one else has (and definitely not Lindsey Buckingham) and that’s why she ought to still be standing on the stage, no matter how some people may be disappointed because she doesn’t go “nuts like she used to”.
Yeah, I have my preferences and I wear them upfront in my sleeve. I may not discuss at the Stevie board that much but it’s not because I have any problems with it or the people in there.
I will always defend LB in very volatile ways and that’s because I hate his general under-appreciation. Of course it’s not too sensible to do that in a fan board but I’ve seen this place as collective therapy as much as a place for information.

These days it seems that threads concerning the simultaneous praising of Lindsey and bashing of another member, are the most prevalent. So when I see those double-standards, I point them out. :)
So, you know, I never said that Mick is "drop-dead honest" (to quote Stevie), or that he's more credible than Lindsey in any way, shape, or form... I merely said that, on the issue of promising/verifying new & upcoming releases, Mick & Lindsey's believability/credibility levels are about the same to me.

Johnny, if you would consider for two seconds the spirit in which I framed my original comment, you might conclude it had nothing to do with double standards. From the very beginning, I was saying that "I don't believe anything Mick says," to quote myself. So I explained.
I also brought up "double-standards" in my post just prior to this last one, because Gaius seemed to feel that I was working against "LB Fanatics," and presenting some kind of false objectivity.
However, the one and only intent of my original message, was to express my personal opinion that a release is just about as likely to happen, no matter whether Mick was the one who said it, or Lindsey was.
I figured that viewpoint would be criticized, so I offered the reasons for which I hold that opinion.
I was never meaning to weigh-in on every single nuance of Mick and Lindsey's personalities, or on the tons of other possible credibility issues we could discuss... and I had thought, mistakenly it seems, that I had made that clear.

If we hear from Lindsey's mouth that he is going to release his solo material, that will be more credible.Since you said this in regards to the release of another Lindsey album, and since you used the phrase "comes to fruition," I felt that you were only commenting on promises of new releases.
I didn't realize that autobiographies and fanclub debacles were included in that.

Doesn't that trash reflect his level of credibility? I think so, my man. Lindsey is a musician first and a businessman second. With Mick, it's the other way around, so we have to suffer the false promises and ridiculous publicity that Mick drums up to get a few more clams in his sweaty hands. It's always been that way. Lindsey didn't write a book full of lies, Lindsey didn't say SYW would be a double album a month before the album was mixed, Lindsey didn't say Sara would be the in the setlist before the start of the tour, and so on. Johnny, I haven't been here for a while but I'd still like to chime in on this one.
I don't think you've been working against LB fanatics; my rationality and analytical side let me down once again when I felt irritated by the pokes at Lindsey that felt negative, no matter how apt they might be.
And I don't think anyone can be the objective equal poster here but we certainly can try. And I think we all should strive to get to that point, at least sometimes.
The LB fanatics will tone down at one point anyway, it just seems that spring has a "Red Rover" effect on me. Hence the ridiculously long posts at the LB forum.
I'd still like to state that I've never intentionally criticized anyone's persona, my critique has been directed at music (which sometimes can't be separated from the personality, I admit). And if I learn to do that with less writing then it's better for all of us.
