View Full Version : Do you wear glasses?

So do you? And what kind?

My eyesight is absolutely terrible and I'm a quarter inch from being legally blind. Seriously, I've had to wear glasses since I was four and we all know what glasses were like back in the eighties. Thick as coke bottles.

I've been wearing Alain Mikli glasses for almost ten years and they are truly the best. I can throw these suckers down a flight of stairs and they won't have a single scratch.

These are the ones I wear, except mine have a thin red stripe in the middle of them (and I didn't pay no $420 for the damned things!):

I do wear glasses...I only wear them when I'm in class or reading though, and am supposed to wear them when I drive...but usually don't because I prefer sunglasses and am too cheap to buy perscription ones...

My eyesight isn't that bad at all...I can usually get by without glasses, I try to wear them when I read :)

I don't have a picture of just my glasses but I do have a pic of me wearing them:

I'm toward the bottom of the page :D

I love those glasses, but then again, I like anything with a thick frame. :D I like glasses that weigh my face down, not those wire glasses that could blow away in the wind.

PS: Congrats on all those accomplishments, you should be proud! :wavey:

These are mine:

Except mine are more tortoise shell.

I've had them since I was 4.

Ha!! yes, I do wear glasses...how did you know that?

Only had them for the last couple of years (you know, eye sight getting worse as you get older kinda thing...)
It's cool to see better though
Mine are thin gold rimmed things, no name, but theyr'e cool and even suit me I think....

My fave pic is of me on that Saturday before I left (sigh...LOL) in the London #1 album, second row, first pic. In the pinkish/purple shirt with the #3 on it. I was very thin and lookin' good. LOL

I've worn glasses since 3rd grade, with a brief stint wearing contacts until I realized I look much better w/ glasses.

Mine are Anne Klein, similar to these-

http://www.framesdirect.com/framesfp/Anne_Klein-lcmfnc/r.html

Only they're blue-green.

but I do need my glasses to drive. I'm nearsighted. Also I wear them sometimes while watching TV especially watching a Nascar race. Hard to read the ticker at the top.

I wear glasses sometimes like when I drive at night or when I'm teaching. I don't really like to wear them though. My glasses are the thin, wiry kind.

I got glasses in 3rd grade & have had hard contacts since I was twelve. These days they're gas permeable, but I miss those glass lenses of old. I hear from my eye doctor that many folks do.

In 2nd grade, I used to tell the teacher that I couldn't see the board. No one believed me, I guess. It wasn't until 5th grade that my doctor finally realized, hey! She really can't see! And so, I got my first pair of glasses. They were these pink, purple, powder blue wire frames...really horrendous but I suppose cute for that time. And then a year and a half later I got another pair...they were black and blue....equally horrendous.

In 6th grade, I refused to wear my glasses and my parents sent a note out to my teachers saying that I had glasses and if I didn't wear them, to yell at me. In 7th grade I couldn't take wearing glasses so I asked my parents for contacts. They agreed and I got them The first day, I cried because I couldn't get them in and when I finally did, I couldn't take them back out. However, I've been wearing contacts ever sense although I do sport what have been dubbed my "Ashleigh Banfield's" aka slutty secretary glasses (Guess frames)

That's why I like hard contacts: they're smaller than soft lenses.
I cannot do eye drops, though.

They should use those gadgets from "A Clockwork Orange" on you.

I saw "Sculpted Eyelids in 8 Minutes" at the video store, maybe you should try to find it. I hear muscled eyelids really attract chicks. ;)

You'll know you're in trouble because you'll be in the company of some freak-kay chicks. My advice would be to run. On the double. Cuz you'll be in trouble.

They put these things on Malcolm McDowall's eyes so that he couldn't shut them and they forced him to watch porno.

I don't like when someone comes at me with them...i'd rather do it myself. I have really bad allergies so every spring, I end up having to do the whole patanol thing. For some reason, contacts are a lot easier to put in than the eyedrops.

I have been nearsighted since I was 6 or at least I found out then. I wore glasses until I was 15 and got contacts. I still wear my glasses around the house and they are very old!

You know what I hate. When you go the eye doctor and they use that machine that puffs some air into your eye! It is a test for glaucoma. I always get nervous and blink my eye and then they tell me that I have a slighty abnormal reading. They sent me to a specialist a few years ago and there was nothing wrong with me.

I HATE that machine!! I cannot stop blinking and when I was a kid, I had my mom sign a paper saying I didn't have to do it. LOL I was mortified going to get my eyes checked because of that dang thing.

I'm almost friggin 28 years old and I SITLL hate that machine.

I've worn glasses since I was 7 or 8, contacts since I was 13 (soft). I'm legally blind without my glasses or contacts. I can't even see the posts on my 4-poster bed without them. I know I should get Lasix but I'm afraid I'd end up worse than I am now and at least now I can see very well with the glasses or contacts. This time of year my allergies kick in though and I'm not able to wear my contacts--which I hate. And since I've been wearing contacts now for. . . 26 years, I have no trouble slapping them in and or taking them out.

I can see so much better with my contacts that I never had the phobia about putting something in my eye. I have very little peripheral vision so the contacts are like a godsend to me.

I initially started out with soft contact lens and have been able to wear them every since, so I never had to deal with the pain/discomfort of the hard ones.

I think also because I started wearing them when I was kid just made it easier all the way around. You don't really overthink things when you're a kid the way you do as an adult.

The best advice I ever got about my contacts was when they were teaching me how to put them in--the assistant told me that because I was so near-sighted, and likely bound to get much worse over time, that I should learn how to put them in without a mirror. You can't imagine how handy that's been over the years.

One of my cousin's has even worse eyesight than I do and she did the Lasix thing to great success, I might add. But I'm 39, and let's face it, I'll need reading glasses in a few years anyway. What's the point of having the Lasix done if I'm still going to need glasses anyway in another few years? I've heard enough horror stories to make me wary of the whole thing. Did anyone see the Simpsons episode last season that was set in the future? Everyone who'd had Lasix eventually had their eyeballs fall out!

I have a friend that had it done years ago. She has to wear glasses in low-light...when she's at the theater and when she goes to the movies, those hideous coke bottle glasses are on her face. Other than that, it's the only time she wears them.

worn them since 11th grade. I actually can't wear contacts since I only wear glasses to see distance (driving and blackboards), if I have them on to read I get a headache. Most of the day I'm without them, although I have four pairs (2 reg, 2 sunglasses). My mom does store display at an eyeglass store so I get a huge discount:) Funny thing is my eye doctor says I will probably never need reading glasses b/c my one eye is so off.
