This is from countrynation.com regarding Kenny Chesney's show last night in Michigan. This is only part of the article, that mentions Keith and Lindsey.

"The biggest improvement over last year's show was Chesney's choice of opening acts in Keith Urban and Dierks Bentley. Both have the potential to be superstars themselves and each received a strong welcome from the crowd.

New Zeeland-born Urban is one of the most solid and exciting acts in country, and he kept the energy high during his 11-song, 55-minute set. Backed by a five-piece band, Urban rocked hard while bringing an earthiness to his music by using traditional country instrumentation such as banjo, mandolin and fiddle.

Fleshing out infectious grooves and drawing largely on 1970s pop influences, Urban is like country's answer to Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingham, incorporating complex and melodic phrasing into his playing. One of the many highlights of Urban's set was his haunting hit ballad "You'll Think of Me," which might qualify as the best breakup song in recent years"

YAY!!! I love reading how Lindsey influences people...and Keith is amazing! :)

P.S. And they spelled Lindsey correctly!! :blob1:

55 minute set? I'd be pissed if I spent all that steak for 55 minutes!

He was the opening act. Keith's act was 55 minutes, not Chesney's.

I can't wait for Keith to break away from Chesney and do his own headline tour and I will SO be there!

I love Keith Urban!! He is an amazing guitar player too, you don't see that alot from country singers - they usually have someone else playing guitar. I like Kenny too, but can't figure out why the ladies find him so attractive. LOL!

KU compared to LB, Whatta shock...

All one has to do is see KU in live in concert, Because he can play the s--t outta the guitar & his show was far more entertaining than the Stevie Nicks show I saw just a month earlier back in Aug/Sept 2001 (The only complaint was he was too #$%^&* loud, But being in front row, dead center explained the volume problem)

As for Kenny "<b>Cheese</b>knee", We werent going to pay $60+ to see KU blow his "flavor-for-the-weak" bald-headed cowboy ass off the stage with a 55 minute set when we can see KU headline a festival show with opening acts Joe Nichols & Neal McCoy (The Country Fest 04' is June 11-13...He starts headlining shows very soon Christy, So ya may get yer wish. Btw, Did ya watch the CMT concert special with KU last week?)

Front row was great, considering it was a free show during the state fair of Oklahoma (We arrived early that Sunday afternoon, to get the best seats since it was at the new concert stage at the fairgrounds...It even rained towards the end of the 2 hour + show, So he decided to play a then unreleased "Raining On Sunday")

Keith Urban.........he's the Australian guy right? Well obviously I now know that he is originally from New Zealand, but that's normal over here. I'm one of the many that you think are Australian but you find out are actually New Zealanders. So wait, New Zealand produces country singers? That is a weird concept. Anyway, I think I know the one.

Oh, oh, oh...I gotta stick up for my country here......yes, I guess we do produce country singers...and why ever not just add him to people like Neil/Tim Finn (Crowded House)... Hayley whats her name (opera isn't she?) Kiri TeKanawa... and...Daniel Bedingfield, thingy in the Thompson twins and probably countless others, even I don't know about, we may be small and insignifigant , but by gum, we do throw out singers and entertainers every once in a while...this KU sounds interesting, never heard of him!:D

Get thee over to that web site NOW and check out Keith!!

He does country/rock. It's a mixture. He is not a cowboy hat/cowboy boot wearing guy, he is different from the other folks....and that suits me JUST FINE. :)

Thanks, brian & christy, that was an interesting listen/impression.... a bit too smooth for me me but I defenitely hear a lindsey-link here.... he should push his envelope, too, and come up with some weird compositions. Or did he do that before?

gerald

he has, in the past, pushed the envelope. The 1997 album "The Ranch" (A short lived 3 piece group KU was the leader of) proves he can be versatile when he wants to. There are a few songs on this disc ("Desiree", "Freedom's Finally Mine" & "Tangled Up In Love") that would sound more at home on a LB disc than a KU release.

Btw, Does anyone find it ironic that KU's new writing partner is John Shanks?

so KU is not pushing envelopes anymore??:D
