I just went to Ebay and clicked on my ID History. It says April 28, 2001. The day I signed up to buy something (probably FM related) on Ebay.
My mom left my dad (and I, since I live at home) on March 1, 2001. Between March 1 and April 28, I found Lindsey Buckingham. I've told the story countless times...but in short, I watched National Lampoons Vacation, remembered Holiday Road and DATUSA and BAM....hooked for life.
Fast forwarding to today. I just wanted to say THANK YOU to Lindsey and Fleetwood Mac for being a light in my life. March and April were two VERY difficult months (along with all of 2001 really) for me and my family. It was meant to be, yep, destiny, for me to find this music. I've loved music my whole life, and have loved many different bands/singers.....but Lindsey and FM have really touched me in a way I don't think this post can explain really.
I've met lifelong friends. I've learned lessons. I've lived a dream.
You all get it, I know you do. :)

Jeez Christy, there must have been something in the water, cause my mom and step-dad split around the EXACT SAME TIME...Thats how I got REALLY hooked...all they would do is fight fight fight, and I'd lock myself in my room and pump up anything Mac related just to keep the noise of the fighting outside. Thats probably why im so close to the Mac today...It was almost like nightly therapy in way.
I'll never forget what happened on June 28th though....I was about to leave on July 1st to visit my dad (and to see Stevie live for the first time on the 6th), and my mom and step dad were having another argument outside. Welll, an hour later my mom comes in my room and says, "Alex, I dropped an earing in the pool, can you go get it for me?" Sure enough, I went in the pool, and fished out my step dads wedding ring he had thrown in during the fight. This is probably what made July 6th, 2001 such an important date in my life....I was finally able to see the person who had helped me through so much...I'll never forget that I cried the entire night....
Well, thats my story....Hope that helps Christy...You are NOT alone:wavey:

Kumbaya.. :)
Another nice story, thanks Alex.
(I obviously don't mean nice as in the sad parts of the stories, I mean nice as in FM's role. )

Alex, that's something else! Must have just been that certain time of that year for bad crap to happen. LOL Glad to know that you found comfort in music, like I did. :)
Lux, I'm sorry to hear about your mom saying that about you. :( I don't KNOW you, but I'm sure you are NOT a loser. Anyone who loves Lindsey and FM automatically has a higher IQ than people who don't.
Seriously tho, music in general helped me through some rough times as a kid. I'd crank up my headphones as loud as I could (which is why I'm half deaf today. LOL) to drown out the fighting.
:(
