I found it in Circuit City today for $2 and just listened to it. Is it just me or do the remixes use the vocals from the White Album version of "Landslide" instead of "The Dance" vocals? I found it quite weird.
And some of those remixes are funky.

I'm jealous. I hate ordering things online and have never seen the Landslide single in the stores, so I haven't heard it. Are the mixes any good or are they just "funky"? :)

Yes, they do. Funny story. When I First got into Fleetwood Mac after the Dance, I was clueless about them. Had no idea Landslide had been released on a previous album. So I listened to the single and thought "What's up with them using this studio vocal? They ruined the song!" LOL!
P.S. These remixes suck, BTW.

Yeah, they're definitely the original studio version vocals... but the little "mm-hmm" part that they used here and there, is from 'The Dance' version.
I like the remixes... but then, I always dig these kinds of things. I think they're fun.
The "string mix" is my favorite. :)

I think the remixes are very good. The string remix is also my favorite. I could do without the analog remix. I really was surprised when I first purchased the CD and played it that they were the original vocals, but I think that the remix compliments the vocal rather than just drowning it out with a lot of effects. It makes me wish that they would give the official remix treatment to other older songs.
This post actually brings up a question I was going to ask. Today while I was in yoga class, the step class next door had Peacekeepr playing. I listened very closely and it didn't sound like Lindsey at all!! Now I've noticed this in other exercise classes - they play popular songs but it is sung by somebody totally different - I guess to give it that bouncy arerobic feeling. Does anyone know what the deal is with this?? Is there a version of Peacekeeper out there for aerobic classes or something? Or was it really FM even though it didn't sound like them at all?

I don't think the remixes are very good. :( The string mix is great, but the other two aren't up to snuff. If you want some good remixes, get the single for "Planets of the Universe." I think the general consensus is that those are fantastic remixes. :D

I know that there is a Peacekeeper remix from a remixer in Europe (Tin Tin Out, I think), that might be what you heard. I'm definitely not a fan of that remix, though. It's terrible, IMO. :(

They do use the White Album vocal. I love the mix that leaves her singing the last little bit acapella. Some of those mixes prove how timeless that vocal really is.:)

 I just found it so odd that they used that vocal.

For some reason, it made perfect sense to me. Maybe it was because it was around the time of The Dance and Lindsey was reflecting on Landslide and when and why the song was written. I think it was a nice touch. You have to admit, it's a gorgeous vocal.

Oh, it's beautiful. But, for some reason, I totally love the Dance one even more. Maybe it has to do with how she sings it. The song isn't just a song, it's a reflection. She had gotten older and had gone through all that crap and the song had taken on a whole new meaning. I think it's the definitive version. Well, right next to the one where she dedicated it to Lindsey and told a captive audience that the song was, after all, about him. :wavey:

At the taping in boston for the PBS concert, she told us that she was dedicating the song to Lindsey and finally admitted that the song was about him. Not only did she say that, but she said that he was the one who taught her how to play it on the guitar. It was a beautiful moment! Linds looked like he was going to lose it. :)

Oh my goodness! I hope that makes it on the air when they broadcast the show!
Thanks :)

I really like all of the remixes on the single, but I like the Analog Mix the most. (It sounds the best when you're high. )
In case you didn't realize, the mixes were all done by Ted Ottaviano, from the late '80s synth band Book of Love. Remember "I Touch Roses" & "(I'm Not A) Boy"? I got to meet him at a club performance in Houston in the early '90s (way before The Dance), and he was very sweet and friendly. So, everytime I listen to the remixes I think of doing Kamikaze shots with him and his sister (can't remember her name - the band's vocalist...).
Now if I could only meet Stevie...

Just because we were talking about them, I put them up on my site's bootleg page! :)
