Cyndi Lauper, Deborah Harry, Joss Stone, Kylie Minogue, Patti Labelle, Gladys Knight, Jessica Simpson.

Interesting mix. I like Kylie. I am excited about Deborah Harry but confused as to WHY she would do this...

Jessica Simpson can sing I guess, and Joss Stone seems interesting ( I have only heard one song I'm not crazy about but SHE herself has an interesting voice)

The rest are yawn, typical diva fare.

I'm interested to hear Cyndi. She has the most AMAZING voice. I would listen to her sing the alphabet. I don't know if any of you saw this, but a few years ago there was a tribute concert to Joni Mitchell, I think it was on A&E or Bravo or something. Anyway, Cyndi sang "Carey" from Joni's "Blue" album. I thought I was going to burst into tears!! She completely made that song her own, and delivered it with so much passion and soul. We're talking heavy pathos here people.

I've been a huge fan of Cyndi's from then on.

Cyndi AND Debbie?! OMG, it's going to be FANTASTIC!!!

Cyndi has some of the best pipes in the world. That girl could outsing Whitney AND Hoochie Aguilera. And Debbie just rocks. I hope she sings Maria. :D

OMG - I LOVE CL. Interestingly, when she opened for Cher here awhile back, she literally came out into the audience BAREFOOT and sang. She went up the aisle and behind the first section of the ampitheatre. The people in the back were in awe. THEN - she literally stopped for just a second at the hanicap section where I was as my handicap friend's escort and kind of looked at my handicap friend and the other handicap people aroundus and sang a little. It was so great for her to make that effort. I almost cried. I mean my friend can walk but it is difficult for her. But some of the people there were very bad off in that all they could move was their head. So, CL is the kindest person in the world for doing that kind deed IMO. What a true lady! I am getting teary eyed even typing this

As for DH - Maria is one of my fav.'s ever from them!!!!!

That's such a sweet story. :D Cyndi always struck me as a warm and genuine person. I saw her last summer when she opened for Cher and she danced around in the aisles and sang and sat right on the edge of the stage and sang; it seemed like she really enjoyed being there and singing to everyone. But what she did at your show was amazing; such a great person.

Have you heard her last album? It's fantastic. And I finally found her EP "Shine" last week and I'm in love with that f*cking song. It's gorgeous.

AND - The new Blondie album comes out April 6, finally!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you like Blondie, check it out because I think it's one of their best, if not the best. And trust me, I didn't think anything could compare to Parallel Lines and Autoamerican. :D

I like CL's new disc. But, my fav. will always be "Hat Full of Stars," esp. "Sally's Pidgeons" (sighs) - and that is saying alot because I LOVE all of her stuff.

I will def, check out the new Blondie CD. I love them

oh my... they are actually on their way to a REAL divas line up, they just made it half way.
i love kylie, cyndi and of course debbie harry who's obviously about to steal the show completely, and whom i'm extremly happy to see there, coz she never seem to get any of the honors and respect she now deserves in my opinion.
i'm also pleased to see patti labelle and gladys knight there (although both not my personal favorites) but if jessica simpson's a diva, then i'm a diva as well :distress:

which brings me to the question: who the hell is Joss Stone? is she some kind of country crap that i'm not even supposed to know about, or am out of touch with stuff?

Thanks for the link!!!!!!

Also, did I mention I think Gladys Knight has one of the best voices I have ever heard in my entire life. I love her!!!!!!!!!!! AND - she is well regarded in the Atlanta community as a very nice person. I have met her and can say without a doubt she is.

She supposedly a white "soul" singer and she sucks. Terrible voice and very grating. I don't think she's ever heard the word "pitch".

I love Cyndi and Deborah, but the rest I can just take or leave. VH1 ticks me off with this every year.....Jessica Simpson? Diva? Pffffft. And Stevie was a "special guest." Pffffft.

Edit: Oops, missed Gladys Knight. She's cool.

OBVIOUSLY NOT! LOL:laugh: But when I saw her this past January, she had a rapper come out at the end and help her out...Frankly, this part sucked, but at least we got to hear Rapture

Ick! That reminds me of Coolio on "No Exit." I just can't listen to another rapper on a Blondie album; it don't do it for me. :distress:

I hear you, "No Exit" wasn't her best, lol...the album was ok, but the song tanked. "Good Boys" is a pretty amazin song, so I look forward to hearing it again...

BTW, Anyone willing to bet their life savings that Cyndi will perform "Girls just wanna have fun"?  LOLTaking all wages now...

I remember being surprised years ago by her cable concert when I learned that she really can sing.

she IS in need of a face lift and an improved diet, but damnit, this lady still rocks! her pipes are in top shape, and she's very energetic. maybe it's because i saw her from 2nd row, coz i guess people 10 meters behind me were able to believe it was 1979 all over again.
i saw blondie's concert in london 3 days before FM, which means the great impression could have been very short-living, but it wasn't.
but then again, why believe me when you can download The Curse Of Blondie and hear for yourself.

Nope, neither of my computers will download music these days.

BTW, what does your banner say? I can't read without vowels, and I doubt I could translate even with.

I'm surprised nobody has asked this here, but what seven living singers do you think should be in the 2004 Divas special?

My picks:

Stevie Nicks
Christine McVie
Sheryl Crow
Gladys Knight
Cyndi Lauper
Ann Wilson
Pat Benatar

(Wow, guess my age from these picks.)

Hmmm...

Deborah Harry
Gwen Stefani
Terri Nunn
Stevie Nicks
Christine McVie
Shirley Manson
Elton John. lol.

I'm so glad that Debbie, Cyndi, Patti and Kylie are going to be on this special, though... But, they could easily drop Joss Stone. She cannot sing at all, and Dissention is absolutely correct- she does not know what "pitch" is. I think she's way too over-rated. And she ruined a White Stripes song. Hmmph  .

I want some real divas:

Cyndi Lauper
Debbie Harry
Tina Turner
Bette Midler
Stevie Nicks
Cher
Ann Wilson

And if one of them couldn't make it, throw in Etta James. That would be the best concert special in the world.

Hell yes. She released a live album from the House of Blues last year and it's one of the best CDs that I own, dare I say that it's right up there with some of the Mac albums. She may be in her sixties, but she can sing a sexy, sexy song. I'd get it if you can! And she did a free show in my area two years ago and brought the house down.
