WTWCT? Richard Simmons assault charge

It appears that exercise guru Richard Simmons has bitch-slapped someone in an airport. People never cease to amaze me!

Richard Simmons Cited for Slapping Man

PHOENIX - Exercise guru Richard Simmons allegedly slapped a man who made a sarcastic remark about one of his videos, police said.

Simmons, known for his "Sweatin' to the Oldies" series of exercise videos set to songs from the 1950s and 60s, was cited for misdemeanor assault.


A fellow passenger recognized Simmons on Wednesday night at Phoenix's Sky Harbor International Airport as he was waiting for a flight to Los Angeles, police said.


The man "made the off-hand comment, 'Hey everybody. It's Richard Simmons. Let's drop our bags and rock to the '50s,'" said Phoenix police Sgt. Tom Osborne. "Mr. Simmons took exception to it and walked over to the other passenger and apparently slapped him in the face."


The passenger, whose identity wasn't immediately available, wasn't injured but told police that he intended to file charges against Simmons, 55.


Osborne said Simmons was cited for misdemeanor assault and permitted to board his flight.

Of course he's going to file charges and he's probably going to sue just because it's Richard Simmons. If he hadn't opened his f*cking mouth in the first place, none of this would've happened. My sympathy is with Simmons; he must get pretty down with everyone making sarcastic and off-hand remarks about him. Say what you want, but the man is an inspiration to many and just exudes positive energy.

This is ridiculous.

On another note, maybe this'll show up on A&E's show "Airline" (which is absolutely HYSTERICAL!!!!!!). :laugh:

I keep missing Airline!! :mad: I've only seen bits here and there towards the end of the shows.

I know that he must get frustrated having to hear comments from people all the time, but you have no right to hit/touch another person unless they hit/touch you first, IMO.

He should have turned the comment around and said something sarcastic to the guy instead. :)

I agree, he had no right to hit him, but my word, he is the butt of some really nasty jokes. Maybe he was at the point where he was finally fed up after hearing it for so long. And it must have been especially hurtful coming from someone he had never met before. I know I'd be furious. But I'm a diva about everything. :laugh:

You must catch Airline, Christy!!!!!!!!!! I totally love Yolanda, she cracks me up. On Monday, there was a guy waiting for a plane and he was wearing a miniskirt with no underwear! He flashed the other passengers when he sat down and she tried to get him to change.

Did you see the one with the woman who was picking up her 80 year old mother? She had some guy hold up her jacket so that she could change her clothes in front of the ticket counter! Then, her mother stole a wheelchair so that she could get through the line quicker and when her daughter saw her, she kept yelling "Get out of the F*CKIN' wheelchair! You just want privvy service!"

This really made me laugh. That silly queen ! The fact that he "bitch slapped" anyone just kills me. That guy who got slapped is never going to live down getting bitch slapped by the silliest queen in pop culture today. Too Much !
