Hey,
I'm trying to save up money, but the reissues just came out! I was at the mall today (not a good place to be when you are trying to save up money  ) and had all three in my hand. Then I opted not to buy them... yet. Do you think they are really worth it? I have the three albums on regular cds. So, are these reissues so wonderful that I need them now? Or can I wait a few months? If it was a new album or the live SYW album, I would be the first in line. But since it is just a few demos, I am wondering if it is really worth 50 bucks. Help!

Let me put it to you this way, Christopher... these reissues are most definitely worth the price.
But... if you're trying to save up money, there's no reason why you can't put these purchases on hold for a while.
They're not limited releases, so they'll still be around when you have the extra cash. :)

It's really up to you. YES they ARE worth the money, it's almost like I feel like I have bought brand new albums by Fleetwood Mac..these reissues are an incredible tribute to these legendary works...but I think if you need to save money, you could just put em off a while, they will still be there when you're ready

I agree with what the others have said. They are worth the $$. There is no reason you have to buy all three at the same time though. Why don't you get one of them now, and get the others as you get the extra cash?

I say Rumours and Tusk are worth it, but Fleetwood Mac is not.

Yeah the demos and outtakes didnt blow me away. Its great that they've finally been released after 25 years, but nothing too spectacular. I am just glad they've finally been remastered. The new pics were great, as is the packaging design.

There is no question about it. I also feel like I have new material.
The remasters are so good that I actually thought Crystal on the White Album was a different vocal. I played my newest "regular" disc and then played the remastered disc and the difference is staggering. The clarity and depth of all the tracks (even bonus tracks on discs 2 of Rumours and Tusk) are unbelievable.
The way my speakers surround me in my listening room, it is as though the band is in there with me.
When you can, go get em'!!!

I haven't gotten mine in the mail yet, but they are certainly worth it. The sound on the old CDs are simply horrific and these new ones even have extra discs of remastered demos and outtakes.
However, I wouldn't recommend going out and buying them at the first store you see 'em in. They are WAY overpriced in stores; I'd recommend buying them online. Brian posted a good website to comparison shop on at http://www.pricegrabber.com

Yes, I think they are worth the price.
I am quite impressed with the remastering of "Fleetwood Mac" more-so than the "Tusk" or "Rumours"...It's sounds much better than I expected.

ITA - I think they are all good however.
PLUS - the difference on Crystal on FM FM is amazing IMO.

I have to say, I'm not one of those people that has golden ears. (being able to tell one recording from another)
But Rumours and FM are so bad that these new recordings grab even me.
The Fidelity is unmistakeable, and the re-mastering is superb.

compared to the original cd releases of "Tusk" & "Rumours" these reissues are years ahead soundwise and the overall sound fidelity has finally made the grade in my books (I can finally have some FM discs that are comparable to the upgraded Beatles releases), It's just IMO "Fleetwood Mac" has benefited the most from the remastering.
Hopefully "Mirage" (When reissued in the near future) will also benefit from the process.
I had no idea until listening to the FM reissue that Stevie sang on the studio version of I'm So Afraid. Maybe it really is clear on the original CD, and I just never noticed. Either way, I was very surprised and happy to hear her voice on this song!

I'd have to agree, "Warm Ways" is unbelievable. And the "single versions or SYLM, RHN, BL, & OMH" sound like they were recorded yesterday.

Finally, THIS is the Rumours of my memory as a kid. The first CD issue was TERRIBLE. The vinyl sounds so warm and alive and REAL. Somehow they captured that on the remastered CD.
I paid ~$20 at Best Buy for the reissue. It was worth that for the sound of Rumours. I overpaid for Tusk because I couldn't find it anywhere else but a "mall" store. I would have waited on that one if I had it to do over.
FM:FM is worth buying, again, for the sound quality.
I would say, however, that none of this is all that noticeable if you're listening on computer speakers, a boom box or something like that. These are audiophile releases, unless you're buying them for the demos.

yes - of course they're worth it.
some of you are forgetting that the whole point of these releases was the fact that they are re-mastered. The bonus tracks are - bonus tracks!
Remember that the cd technology when these three albums originally came out on cd was pretty crappy. So unless you listen to most of your music on less-than-stellar speakers or a mediocre walkman , then I say you should spring for the cd's. They are as close to or better sounding then the vinyl releases.
Personally, I found the bonus tracks really great - but then again - I'm a Buckingham FM fan - and to me - he's like Brian Wilson. The process is almost as great as the final song.
