I am taking a History of Witchcraft course right now and today the professor was showing images of how witchcraft is viewed in popular culture. She showed images of fairy tale witches and Halloween witches and then...on the almost movie theater sized screen is a picture of Stevie from the cover of the Dance album:nod: I couldn't believe it. My professor was basically just commenting on her clothing and how it has that witchy quality. I know this isn't that exciting...but I thought it was kind of interesting.

Colleen,

That's funny! I can totally relate to how you must have felt when that picture popped up! Did anyone in the class know you were a fan? I always think it's cool when Stevie or other Mac references pop up when you aren't expecting them. A couple of weeks ago there was a reference to Tusk (the song) on Joan of Arcadia, and I got so excited that I almost knocked my 82 year old grandmother off the couch. I also remember when I was in an American Lit class a few years ago and we were reading Rappacinis Daughter in class, when whomever was reading got to the line in the story "until she herself had become the deadliest poision in existance" and it suddenly dawned on me that this was where Running Through the Garden came from. I actually blurted out "Oh my God!"

Funny, just I got done reading about this, I heard Peacekeeper come on the television. I was like, WHAT? I looked over and realized it was the episode of Third Watch that featured Peacekeeper.

Another funny thing is that, as Johnny Stew knows because he thankfully helped me on this, I just wrote a paper for my pop culture class. It had to be about a piece of art from a particular artistic culture borrowing from another artistic culture, and I chose Stevie (popular art) borrowing from Hawthorne's "Rappaccini's Daughter" (high art).

Yet another funny thing was my professor mentioned Bill Clinton in rhetoric and culture as being the sort of uniter (is that a word? can't think of what i want to say), since, afterall, he was actually able to reunite Fleetwood Mac. I literally jumped in my chair because I was half spaced out. By the way, FM is all over the radio here these days. FM everywhere, oh my!

My story doesn't really relate to this specific subject, but it was a cool Mac experiance.

I was bowling with this kid from our homeschool group and his mom was talking to my mom and she was saying that I guess her son wanted to hear me sing the Fleetwood Mac song about changes. They couldn't figure out what it was called, so they turned to us bowlers and asked what the song "Changes" was really called. Then he, myself, and my 9 year old brother all said "Landslide" at the same time. It was pretty funny because we had known each other for years, but never knew we all like the Mac. :D

Yeah, I know what you mean. I'll get excited over the smallest thing. Like if I see a Fleetwood RV or something like that, it always brings a smile to my face...I'm so weird sometimes:nod:

What an intersting sounding class!! I really would have like to take something like that...had it been offered here lol...

The one concern I'd have is whether people in the class would take it wrong and think..."History of Witchcraft"..."Picture of Stevie Nicks..." "Stevie Nicks must be a witch." Knowing the complete dopes I go to school with that would be exactly what would happen lol....

Also...I was in the darkroom the other night developing film and making some prints for my photog. class...and I asked the one woman in there if she'd mind if I put Fleetwood Mac on. She said, "No..Stevie is my queen..." So I thought..."cool" Well, I put on SYW and went about my business developing my film...when I was done I went to make some prints and was at an enlarger by this woman. I thought I'd make some conversation, I said, "So you're a Stevie Nicks fan?" Her reply was, "Yes...I come from five generations of witches, so she's like my musician since she's a witch..." I pretty much ended the Stevie conversation right then and there as I didn't feel like arguining and from having this woman in different classes she "knows everything about everything anyway" lol....*sigh* Being a Stevie fan can be so tiring sometimes ;)
