I keep saying that, being pals with the Dixie Chicks and all, Stevie Nicks should just go on and make a straight-up country album. Just for fun, I was wondering, what country songs would you love to hear her do?

I personally put "D-I-V-O-R-C-E" and "He Stopped Loving Her Today" at the top of the list, just because they're such tragic old songs and Stevie's voice would make them even more wonderfully miserable than ever....

Welcome to the Ledge! :)

Well, she could always remake the Dixie Chicks' Landslide.

;)

I've been saying that for a couple of decades now

Uhhu! :(

Here in Canada we have Canadian Idol...just like American Idol. On the morning news they were hanging out with some people who were gonna audition. One girl said "I'm gonna sing Landslide by the Dixie Chicks!"

I started yelling at the T.V. Now that's devotion.

Thanks for the warm welcome, Wondergirl!

I read an interview where Stevie said she would've demanded to be the fourth Dixie Chick if she weren't so old, or words to that effect. I was just like, "NO, STEVIE, YOU'RE NOT TOO OLD FOR ANYTHING!"

(Is yelling a magazine interview as big a show of devotion as yelling at the TV?) ;)

I would LOVE to hear Stevie do "I Fall to Pieces," or anything by Patsy Cline..."Walkin' After Midnight," "Crazy," etc.

Walkin' After Midnight would be AMAZING. Really, Stevie has one of those voices that is sort of able to cross the genre lines. I love her bluesy sound but then again, I loved hearing At Last so I know she can rock the jazz standards (which i'm obsessed with)...and then there's the country side of her. I think it would be cool to hear her do some different stuff.

I agree about the Patsy stuff ... and normally I'm very protective of the Cline canon, getting all "who does she think she is" when ladies try to cover it!

That's my feeling about Etta James. "Don't EVEN try to cover an Etta tune!" (yeah, that INCLUDES Stevie)

Maybe not devotion...hmm...what's the word I'm looking for...ooo!...mental instability! :D

I'm totally kidding. I've never yelled at a mag before...I've have to try it some time.

I think it would be FABULOUS!!! Stevie herself mentioned plans to do so during interviews for The Wild Heart! I am no "country music hardcore", but I enjoy a lot of it, and I think it would be an awesome thing for Stevie to do. But I'd want it to sound more on the old school side...maybe Dolly Parton could produce?! Though I love ALL of her albums, it'd be really cool to hear something very stripped down from Stevie.

LOL! Dolly Parton could probably bring out a very playful side of Stevie that we don't get to see much of!

I was just thinking last night that although I, too, love the lavish production jobs sometimes, it would be awesome if someone did for Stevie what Rick Rubin did for Johnny Cash -- namely, give her a chance to make a record that was the bare bones of her and her music.

That's horrible. I could care less for the Hen's political views, I'd been boycotting them long before that.

I've always thought that Stevie should do a country album; even before the Hen's slaughtered Landslide. The whole Bella Donna album sounds somewhat country, and those Buckingham Nicks demos are awesome. She's deffinetly got experiance with country; singing with her grandfather and all. I never thought of her doing D-I-V-O-R-C-E, but she'd probably sound good singing some Tammy Wynette. More people really need to. :distress:

I think Stevie will eventually do a country album, and I'd love it.. Although I think she will wait until she has milked her current/past persona for all its worth....Probably we might see something like this when she's doing music JUST for the fun, without any big aspirations for it....but who knows, maybe she would do well with it...It doesnt matter HOW OLD you are in country music, Willie Nelson still has hits...as does Dolly

I don't think Stevie should make a country album. She should stick with what she's doing and then make a jazz album. At Last, When Sunny Gets Blue, Sunday Kind of Love, she's proven that she is a pro at that kind of stuff. Bring it on, Stevie. :D

THAT'S a wish i have for a long long time now. But not only for stevie:

I would LOVE to see a Buckingham/Nicks album part 2, produced by Rick Rubin (eventually with some gorgeous country-songs.)

But who's gonna glue Buckingham at the mike and guitar? or maybe a soundboard on 5000 volts will work...........

I think I and many Stevie fanatics would LOVE a Stevie country album--I'm not so sure about the general record-buying audience. I don't know if she has the "guts" to issue anything that wouldn't have a good chance of at least going gold.

Ahhhhhh, a country album from Stevie. That would be a dream come true for me. Ive always loved "That's Alright" from Mirage. She needs to include that Red Sovine song "Are You Mine" on it if it ever comes to fruition. It's such a sweet song.
