What are your fav. comedians?

Male: Definetely a tie b/n Robin Williams and Jerry Seinfeld, although Larry David comes in a close second.

Female: 3 way tie....Judy Tenuta/Paula Poundstone/Rita Rudner

Crazy!! Those are my three choices for female comedians!! Margaret Cho is pretty funny as well...

As far as males go: Eddie Izzard, Jerry Seinfeld....

Well, I know I've seen some others both male and female that I loved...but I'm awful about names....

If I HAD to pick one.....I would probably have to lean towards Judy, b/c she is so mean to her audience, that it justs cracks me up. I hope to her live one day (it could happen!)...I just better watch out for her flying gum!

Buddy Hackett, George Carlin, Elaine Boozler, Paula Poundstone. There's one I saw years ago - I think her name was Diane Ford or Carol Ford.

Speaking of which, who was that Moms lady from the Sixties who would perform in a housedress & without any teeth?

I <3 Mitch Hedburg, Eddie Izzard, Lewis Black and Dave Attell.

Don't really have many female favorites. Ellen DeGeneres is pretty good but I can only take most others in small doses.

Robin Williams is hysterical!!!
George Carlin
Eddie Murphy (IMO, should go back to stand up)
Chris Rock
Steven Wright
and even Bill Cosby was good back in the day....(I loved his Noah bit...even as a kid I found it hysterical...and nobody here probably knows what I'm talking about  )

As far as females go...I liked Roseanne in the beginning, but later on she just went all crooked...I like Ellen DeGeneres, I thought she did a great job with the Emmy's...and she's great with her guests...and that's about all I could think of:confused:

I was thinking Lucy but wasn't sure she counted since I assumed the thread was about stand-up. If not, she's at the top.
Also, I haven't seen her stand-up act in many years, but Whoopi was funny in the 80s with all of her characters.

If it's not confined to stand-up then yeah...Lucy is my #1!!! I adore her!!

I also saw Ellen on HBO last night (I love house-sitting for people w/cable :D ) and laughed my ass off....so I'm gonna have to add her to my list of female comics...

I also forgot about George Carlin, Brain Droppings is one of my favorite books...I haven't read the ones that came out after that...I'm very behind lol....but yeah...he's great...

Never saw that, just her act that aired on cable years ago, plus I own the Fontaine tape from '88.

The Fontaine tape rocks.

You should try to get her audiobook reading of "Book" from the library. It's funny to read the book, but listening to it be read by her will make you lose control of your bladder.

Have you seen Miller's new show on CNBC?

I'd usually have a wise-ass, bitchy remark about it, but I'll just have to stick with calling it bad. Very bad.

Or, should I say, the V-chip has come in very handy when it comes to that channel.

I used to like Dennis Miller - but he has become too political. I not only disagree with his politics, but I find he isn't very funny anymore. Just pointed and mean.

He used to be my favorite comic.

For now, I like Chris Rock - kills me.

My female fave, by a mile, is Wanda Sykes. Her show was not great, but her stand up is deadly.

It's in last weeks Entertainment Weekly, but she had said it on one of her stand-up specials for Comedy Central originally.

Her addition to "Inside the NFL" has made that show watchable.

Hmmm...wouldn't surprise me. He's gotten extremely uptight and humorless these past few years. I preferred him in the Fat Albert days, which is one of my favorite cartoons ever.

Ellen had Richard Simmons on a few months back and he changed his underwear onstage and said he felt like Sharon Sotne in "Basic Instinct." Then he took vegetable oil and rubbed it on his legs and Ellen's arms. THEN he ran backstage and emerged with "I WIll Survive," "YMCA," and Barbra Streisand on vinyl for the DJ to play.
