Hey I posted this idea/ concept in an earlier thread, and as I now actually have the tape I thought I should re-post. If anyone is interested in this idea post below. If not then I just have an extra copy I can give to someone.

Hey, this may solve the problem for those not in the US and who won't see soundstage. On one of my other boards we do what is called a round-robin of stuff ppl have and others want to see. Basically there is a list of ppl and you just send the tape to one person on the list and they send it off to the next person, and so on down the list. I know it's not as ideal as everyone having their own copy, but it could work. I would possibly be able to provide the origional tape, depending on how many times it airs.

SO the list would START here, I think the show is being aired a couple times so I am willing to make a copy of it and ship it off to the first person on the list from this board, you get? I was actually surprised we didn't have a round-robin thing on this board, but hey guess we could start one.

So after it airs here I will post that I have it and then people who want the tape sent to them can sign up under a list, I'll send it off to the first person with the list (plus it will be left up here, as more sign up) then they get in touch with the second person on the list and send it off to them, naturally you can all make your own copies from the tape as well.

Most VCR's in the UK are now ntsc compatible

If you guys do a round-robin, then won't the video quality of each copy passed down go down exponentially with every copy that's made of a copy that's made of a copy etc?

I'd think a tree would be a slightly better way to ensure quality, if you have anyone willing to do multiple copies.

I wish I had two VCRs to help out. The special was so cool.

I do understand the quality issue, however I only have one VCR, and no DVD recorder, if someone can convert to DVD I will be more then willing to tape a rebroadcast and ship it off to be formated.
I have no idea what compatibility issues are, all I know is it's recorded in SP (heard this would be better quality) and that it was recorded on a Magnovoxx (sp?). Anyways it's not the copy of the copy that would be "round robined" it would be the origional getting sent off to the next person, the "copies" would be kept by the people who made them, at least that is what I was intending. Hope this helps.

I also have no DVD player so I am fine with the video tape. Gerald it should work for you also, I have several videos from the US which I can see on my VCR and it's not a too new one.

For those of us with broadband, how about we share it via P2P? If someone can get a decent encode of it, then it should be a cinch to distribute it.

The best bet would be to create a torrent of the vid capture, and let others know where to find it.

sorry, but I know that in my neighbourhood nothing works when I bring an american tape. Believe me, 'cause I have the lindsey-92/93-tape, and I never saw it, although I used to bring it to every visit I attended!:laugh: :laugh:

O.K. so folks here is a possible solution. I can make a DVD out of the video (i.e. somebody else does it for me) so I can ship a DVD to Gerald and he can ship it to the next ledgie and so on.

Okay I'm going to try to ship it off this friday (3/19), sorry it took so long, I hope the DVD burning works as I have no clue as to how to do that. It will probably take a bit to get to Stefan as it's coming out of CA.

Someone mentioned Canada, I don't see a problem, but you will have to get in contact with the person making the DVD, or if you need the tape then thats a bit different.

Oh and just to clarify in my first post I was brainless enough to say soundstage, I ment Destiny Rules, hope I was not misunderstood. Of course if this works I would be willing to do the same for soundstage, okay.

I will also try to keep a list in case there is a need for order or who needs what.

I keep reading similar lines of thought and I wanted to clarifyp2p or dvd, that sounds good. a video copy of a copy of a copy... I have some of those, it hurts your eyes to watch them!
This is NOT what is happening, the ORIGINAL (first) tape, will be sent from one person to the next, so the quality will not diminish. Or at least that is what I intended. The DVDs I am not responsible for, as I can't make a DVD. However if you can burn a DVD from a tape, feel free to request the tape and make your own DVD from it, or your own copy of the tape. I hope this calrifies the quality issue. I don't mean to be rude, or pick on anyone, it's just that this issue still seemed unclear.

First I am really sorry but I didn't get the video out on Friday, it will be leaving on Monday.

Mari- of course you can sign up for a dvd copy, do you want either one to make your own copy from or a copy from someone else? I already actually had you on the list, from earlier in the thread. However, if you want a DVD copy made for you I think Street Angle is able to make DVD copies, you should probably contact her, otherwise I am sure that the origional DVD copy from the tape can be sent along to you.

Tape got sent off today (3/22), it should arrive to Stefan in the next week, although they said at the post office, "just pray when you ship internationally":rolleyes: Just as a note I will be on vacation for the next week, so I am sorry if anyone tries to notify me of any problems but I will not have internet access. Hopefully all goes well:)

O.K. folks- the video Jadegypsy made for us arrived today in a good shape- thanks! I brought it to that friend of mine who will create a DVD copy out of the tape. Personally I don't own a DVD player so I don't know too much about this process. He wants to create a mpeg file on a DVD-R. Hope it will work for all of you DVD owners!
The tape, can be seen in the european format too, at least on my VCR, which is about ca 5 years old. The quality is fine so thanks again Barb! My fellow said the DVD will be made on the weekend so I will send the DVD and the original tape to Gerald on monday. If the DVD returns to the US- can somebody send it along to Jadegypsy too? If it stays here in Europe then I`ll do it of course.

I hoped it would work for the european VCRs, worried though since my VCR is about 15yrs old (how it still works is a mystery). Anyways hope you all enjoy the special. Great that everything went well. Gerald, there are two formats intentionally. On one DVD the entire doc is as an avi.file as I think. As an mpeg it is also stretched over both DVD`s in case someone can't see the avi.file (depends on what type of DVD player you have I believe, at least this is what my fellow Oliver told me- I don't have DVD)
Anyway- as long as everybody can see and hear it- it`s fine. So have fun and goodnight- Stefan

I would have loved to, HomerMcvie, but I couldn't. Read this:

First i tried to make dvd copies. But the AVI-file was unrecognizable for the dvd-software. The MPEG files worked, but were cut over two CD's. One worked, the other part did not have sound. At least, not on my computer, i think i missed some codecs, but I couldn't find them on the net. After spoiling some blanks, I did something else:

I played the AVI file on a computer, recorded it on a Mini DV-casette, and then I copied it towards good old VHS (pal). So now I have two Videocassettes, one for me, one for Mari (sorry Mari, It's a tape, not a DVD.)

It took some time, but at least all the annoying commercials are edited out.

So after 4 0r five days of trying, I shipped all the originals towards StreetAngel in Cologne today, Good luck Maik, maybe you have more succes than I did to transfer it onto DVD, and the video tape Mari, was sent to groningen today as well.

But : I enjoyed it tremendously so i wanna thank jadegypsy and stefan for giving the possibility to watch it!! Thanks guys, you rock!

I have been searching and searching to get a copy of Destiny Rules as it wasn't aired in Australia and being a mad Mac fan for over 20yrs I would truly love to see it, (seen their SYW concert in Brisbane - one word 'AWSOME!') If anyone could be kind enough to post me a copy of the dvd as I have no resources to copy myself I would be more then happy to reimburse expenses - before it is sent. Please, please if anyone can help me I would be so truly greatful!!! I think it is because of the NTSC format. A friend of mine is Russian, and she has many NTSC video tapes from her home country and she says you can watch these tapes on many (but not all) PAL VCR's/TV's, but they will be b&w then. :shrug:

Anyway, I'll take a closer look at the DVD's and the VHS tape at the weekend.

Hmm I can't remember that it was in b/w. I`ve seen it once, then gave it to my fellow to create the DVD. As I haven`t got a DVD player I haven't seen it ever since, I have a copy in case I buy one some day. A tape copy I couldn't make, cause my fellows 2nd recorder was out of order. But I guess I would have realized if it had not been in colour... :shrug: At least I hope so.

First: The origional tape was in color, but no clue as to why it would turn out b/w for other people, sorry about this guys, but thankfully we all know what everyone looks like anyways. I doubt another copy would help since it was recorded same format.

As for the new posters on this thread: Romy and Mandy, I am sure whoever has the tape now will be more then willing to add you to the continuing list. Mandy it looks like Street Angle already answered your question (she is the one with DVD capibilities). Romy if you need a DVD ask Street Angel otherwise you can be sent the origional tape to make your own copy. I am not sure who gets it next after Street Angel though so you had better ask her.

Jadegypsy and Streetangel I can't thankyou enough for your kindness - I thought I was the only person with Mac Fever it is so lovely to see sooooo many fans who share as much enthusiasm with this amazing group as I do. I feel very lucky to have stumbled across such a great group of people. The concept of a round robin is a fantastic idea - some of us dont' get these shows aired which is devastating to us. I'll make one copy for Mari and then send it to Streetangel. One of the German fans maybe can take care of Stefan?

I'll ship in approx 4 days.

No, Becka, you're not late... but because of the growing number of requests I'm posting an idea in this thread now...

I definitely don't want to come across as bigheaded but going by the number of Ledgies who are interested I thought it would be a convenient thing to organize a little "DVD/video tree" - which I'm currently working on, just to make sure that everyone gets a copy as soon as possible and I'm typing the first emails and PM's to some Ledgies as we speak. As much as I'd love to... but you will surely understand that I can't send out copies to ALL the Ledgies - which is where this tree could be a good idea (which should save time and money for everyone involved).

So... what I'd suggest to work everything out is... can interested Ledgies perhaps send me a PM with some details (Yes, I already have some of those, but some are missing) - can you make a DVD copy or not, what "tape system" is your VCR (PAL or NTSC), could you perhaps make a tape copy then, do you prefer a tape etc., how many copies (DVD or tape) would you be able to make... so I can organize it somehow. Messages from other Ledgies with DVD-burning/tape-copying capabilities are of course also welcome (and encouraged). ;)
This way of collecting info and then organizing something had worked out very well in other groups, so maybe we can give it a try over here as well. After having gathered all the info, a final "tree line-up" would be posted here so everyone can contact his potential partner and there would be no more confusion. (LOL, I know that sounds like there have been 200 requests so far, but you get my drift... :laugh: )

Like I said before, I don't want to make myself more important than I am, but at the moment it looks like there are more requests, i.e. copies needed than I can supply. :)

Yay! Your idea is good, this is how they usually handle it at the skating board when they send out tapes, I probably should've tried this first to save you a bit of time and trouble but I was in a rush to get the tape out and at the time there seemed to be limited interest (10-15ppl max) so I figured the mess would work itself out. Oh and don't worry about sounding self important, you just sound logical:)
