View Full Version : What's your passion?

DrummerDeanna

No..this has nothing to do with Mel Gibson ;) ugh...bad joke thing, I know...forgive me, I'm drinking sangria and am still giddy with joy from the doc on VH-1 hahaha..

so I was just wondering...what, other than Fleetwood Mac, are Ledgies passionate about?

My passion used to be music...I loved playing both in bands and by myself...and I miss it tremendously....and realize it's no longer what I'm most passionate about...thought it's still a huge part of my life...

I think my passions are:

Production (like digital stuff...I love working on my news stories and working with sound etc)

Books-I don't feel complete unless I am reading something

writing-whether it be news stories, prose or poetry I just adore writing :)

So how about you all?

Horses and riding and training them. It is very satisfying when the horse and I are together in harmony.

How ironic for the two horse people to follow eachother:rolleyes:

Anyways:
Horses
Drawing, painting, sculpting...(I live for this)
Reading
Poetry writting
Going to the beach
Biotechnology (yup my major)
Star Wars
Music in general (esp classic rock, I am never w/o music)

The same things that I've loved since I was a kid:

Books--Can't get enough of them. I'm literally in the bookstore every single week--sometimes twice a week. I read constantly. I'm also a magazine addict. And a news junkie.

Music-Not a day goes by that I'm not listening to music.

Movies/Television-Can't go without either.

Dogs--I've always loved them, always will. (And btw, I'm a horse lover too, haven't ridden in a while though--not enough time).

Purses--Can't get enough of those either. From collecting vintage evening bags to spending too much money on modern designer pieces, I'm addicted. This is how sick I am: I instantly recognized that Martha Stewart was carrying a Hermes Birkin bag the first day of her trial, and thought it was perfectly reasonable that she showed up to court toting a $5000 plus handbag. If I had that kind of money, I'd have them in every color!

Work-it's my raison d'etre. I'm lucky enough to get paid, and paid well, for what I love to do--it doesn't get much better than that. BTW--I'm a writer/researcher.

Shopping-It doesn't even really matter what I'm shopping for. I'm just as happy in the supermarket as I am in Saks.

My computer and the 'net--how did we ever live without them?

Basketball- I used to be obsessed, it's one of those loves I put down, but always look back on so fondly.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer - My GOD don't get me started... this is what made Fleetwood Mac take the back seat and that was hard to do:laugh:

Writing - Just being artistic in general, but I'm a writer. Journals, songs, fanfiction, whatever... I couldn't survive otherwise.

Well, I don't know if they would be considered "passions" but:

I'm crazy about my son and my husband and I try to do right by both of them...they truly are my legacy.

I love music. All types. Different types. I could listen to music 24-7 and never get tired of it. I have a fondness for singer/songwriters...not manufactured fluff that seems to fill the airwaves lately...come to think of it, I don't EVEN listen to the radio.

Movies.....the older the better.

Hockey...LOVE to watch it....wish I could play it:nod:

NYC...I visit when I can...I'd move there in a minute,if I could afford it.

That's about all I could think of for now!

#1-Music-I betcha if ya saw my music collection you would pass the f--k out!!! I have a larger collection of music than even most Wal-Marts have...And it just keeps growing every week

#2-Audio electronics-I just spent $500 to upgrade my audio equipment (Just bought a JVC XL-R2010 CD/CDR Multiple Compact Disc Recorder & a JVC MX-GA77 360 watt Compact Component System...These are now wired to my Teac W-600R dual cassette player, my JVC XL-V231 Comapct Disc Player & my ever reliable & ready TDK DA-3826 Digital Audio CD Recorder for 1 large ass & loud music system)

#3-Nascar Diecast-I have collected 1/64th scale diecasts since 1999 but I have scaled back to just collecting Racing Champions produced diecasts. (I have probably close to 500+ diecast cars)

Well...none really. I'm not a passionate person.

I like:

Music - There is nothing in my life as important as music, listening to it and singing it...and playing the guitar. Although, my guitar is dusty and I need to break the puppy out and JAM!!! LOL Music has always been my refuge and makes me the happiest. :)

Writing - Although, I've pretty much stopped writing, I do love it. I grew up writing poetry and stories. Seems I have this wierd, freakish imagination. ;) LOL

TV - Don't get me started. LOL I grew up with a very steady diet of TV and movies. It's a sickness, really. HAHA!!

(1) I'm very passionate about music of all types. It is just my love! Of course, Fleetwood Mac is number one on that music-love list!

(a) I collect all things Fleetwood Mac! Anything that they have done together or seperate from the 60s through now---music, concert t-shirts, demos/live stuff, autographs, etc. Big Task, but I'm happy with my collection to this point. :)

(b) I have a huge collection of cds as well from all areas of music, like other people have said on here.

(c) Vinyl/Records: I love vinyl!!!!!!!!!!! It is just the best. I collect them as well.

(2) Audio equipment: I like to have good audio equipment to play my music on. I have a NAD,weighted turntable, NAD receiver, NAD CD player, and B&W tower speakers.

(3) Teaching: It is my job. I think you have to be passionate about it to do it well. I hope I do it well, because I sure care about my students.

(4) Dancing: I have been dancing, since I was five (25 years now)---tap, ballet, and jazz. It is one of my loves. I hope I will be able to do it, in some form, forever. It makes me feel alive. :D

(5) My latest passion: playing guitar!!!!!! I just love it. I have been playing about a month. I just hope I can learn to play half decent. Right now, I know all the major chords, and I can play "For What It's Worth," by Buffalo Springfield well. It was the easiest song I could find to learn. I'm learning "Gold Dust Woman" right now, because it is the easiest Mac song I could find. It is exciting! :blob1:

Plain and simple, my child....she's my life, the reason I was put on this earth. I know it sounds corny, but I was meant to be her mother, even though she was not born of me...We knew China was where our child was. She makes me complete...there's nothing I wouldn't do for this little person...

Sorry to go on and on, but the question was asked what we're passionate about!

1. Music, of course!

2. Antiques, flea markets and thrift shops! I love finding bargains and undiscovered treasures :)

3. My work - I am still somewhat of an idealist when it comes to it for better or worse (I am a family law attorney).

4. Travel - I have been to Brazil and Indonesia and loved every minute!

-Music. Singing, songwriting, performing...it's my calling whether I want it to be or not. I hid from it for many years because I was afraid to fail (it's the Virgo in me) but I can't do that anymore.

-Dancing. I took tap, jazz, gymnastics, clogging, and baton for years until I ran out of dance steps to learn and no longer had the time to do it with school and the expense.

-Writing. I just really love to write...it doesn't matter what it is.

-Handbags, shoes, things that are French, European History...lol...I could go on but i'll spare everyone

I was thinking that too!! A lot of writers on this board....that's really cool...and of course we all love music :D

Christy...I forgot to mention TV...well I didn't forget...I'm a closet TV fanatic LOL...mostly because I really dislike most new programing but set me up with Nick and Nite and I'm a happy camper...my latest tv obsession is Little House lol....I've bought four of the seasons and have fallen in love with the show anew :D
I don't have cable right now, but will probabl get it if I get a job that pays me enough to be able to afford it :D

Mad4Stevie..I also LOVE thrift store shopping...it's so fun! And I like that I can find interesting clothes that the entire campus won't be wearing....good stuff...good stuff :D

1. Music. I can't go on a car ride without having a CD/cassette in or the radio on. I have WinAmp on as soon as I get on the computer, and I have to play my stereo at full blast at all times. I think I got that from my dad

2. Singing. I've been singing ever since I could talk. I sing (in public) whenever I get the chance, which isn't very often. I love to do karaoke, though.

3. Cats. I'm one of the biggest cat people you'll ever meet. I've had cats all my life, I collect cat stuff, read books on them, etc..

4. Collecting music stuff. I have over 200 CDs, tons of vinyl and 45s, posters, magazines, shirts, just about everything. I don't have a whole lot compared to some fans, but I'm pretty impressed with my collection seeing how old I am. It's bound to grow over the summer, because I'll be hitting a ton of garage sales and flea markets... lol.

5. Writing. Not songwriting, necessarily, but just writing in general. My dream job is to become a music journalist, or a cartoonist (heh).

That's all I can think of. I'm sure more will come to me later :).

I'm passionate about music---making it, listening to it, (not to mention collecting it, obsessing over it, well, you get the idea.)

I'm also passionate about languages. I study foreign languages so I'm kind of obsessed with foreign film, music, literature, etc..

Ooooh, and clothes. I'm a total clotheshorse. That's probably what I spend most of my money on after bills, rent, and food!

1. Music - Besides the Mac obviously, I love most kinds.

2. Classic Movies and Hollywood History - I love to watch films from the 60s and earlier. My favorite era is from about 1947-1967.

3. My faith and staying close to family and friends.

4. Baseball - I'm a junkie and love all the history and stats surrounding it.

5. History in general - Always one of my fave subjects. All of it fascinates me.

Yep, that one. Now, it's the one where people get typhus. Makes you SO thankful to know you live in a time when we don't have to deal with those kinds of diseases and there aren't mass deaths.
:( Sad.

I love any ep where Nellie and Willie Oleson get theirs.

Eww..the one with the rats in the corn meal? That one always grosses me out...

I also like to see Willie and Nellie (and Mrs. Oleson) get theirs!! I just watched the one where Bunny runs Nellie into a tree and she pretends she can't walk and makes Laura do all her homework for her etc....the end of that one is great...when Laura pushes Nellie's wheelchair down the hill!!! Great fun!

I'm more of a feminist than several women of dated, which is disheartening. I confess that I'm not very progressive on the leg shaving issue. Sorry.
Haven't played tennis in awhile (since a broken wrist, really), but I follow it closely & own several books (including tennis history).

I would, but only if she's stacked.
Seriously, I definitely would. I liked Pat Schroeder back in the 80s and voted for a woman to be governor of Pennsylvania that same year. In '92 I voted for a woman (against Arlen Spector) the day before I moved to Chicago.
Apparently I only vote for women who lose. (Unfortunately Anne Richards lost without any help from me before I got down here. And when she lost, we all did.:distress: )

I litterally spend the majority of my day in my garage "studio" that my dad, brother, and I set up. We've got my dad's old sound system out there (two huge amps, bass amp, mixing board, mic, ect,) a drum set, two record players, and about a million albums. I recently just got an awesome recorder which I know how to work, but can't upload onto the comp.

Music is definetly my passion. I've been playing an acoustic Ovations for almost 4 years now, harmonica and mandolin for one, drums for two, but I'm not too good at it, and simple bass for about 3 years.

My dad, brother, and I are getting a set together, and we're hoping to get a few gigs this summer. My brother and I have recently been working on an very rock, 1970s live version of Rhiannon, and every time I see it, I have to wait 10 minutes to get my voice back before I can continue with the set. Love that song.

I also take my Catholic Religon pretty seriously. :wavey:
