I was watching Headline News and I heard recently about some poll the Associated Press had.

It was about if Americans were concerned about attacks at the games in Athens.

Here's the article:

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20040214/ap_on_sp_ol/oly_olympic_worries_poll_1

~~

But, this is what upset me:

More than half of those surveyed in an Associated Press poll say they believe a terrorist attack is likely at the Summer Games, and four out of 10 say American athletes are most likely to be the target of any such attack.

What am about to say is my opinion, and I am not trying to offend anyone.

I am concerned about security issues too, everyone, but that's just not being positive. I mean, I was raised to not think negatively about things, especially things like that. What I mean exactly is that we live in a crazy world, but just saying "Something is going to happen and isn't going to be good", is not being positive. I pray for the people's safety at the Olympics come August, and if I believe that everything is going to be okay, I am then sure that things will be just fine in beautiful Greece.

~~

Once more, immense apologies to all that I've offended.

God bless us all, and of course, the athletes and spectators at the Summer Games! :wavey:

<----will be in Jason's suitcase

I hope all goes well with the summer games. After what happened back in 1996, I think everyone is all too well aware of the risks...especially moreso now than ever with the current state of the world.

Wasn't it the Athens airport several years ago where they had this huge terrorist attack and dozens were killed? Scary stuff. The good news is that I'm sure the security will be top-notch. You're probably safer there then you'd be at home.

The Athens airport (both) scare the sh&T out of me. The last time I was there, there was a tank on the runway prohibiting planes for taking off or arriving and men with machine guns were everywhere. My friend and I got on the last train to leave the city before they blew up the tracks, which we could feel on the train. Then, we had to go through communist Eastern Block Yugoslavia without Visas. It was horrible, but it was an adventure nonetheless

And to think, I've been known to bitch about how bad the Atlanta airport was!
