Betty was just about the only thing I enjoyed on The Golden Girls, and she was hilarious on The Practice tonight. Anybody else watch? The shriveled nipple line cracked me up. A woman of talent.

I love the Golden Girls and Rose is easily my favorite character with Sophia as a close second. And Betty White is also the only one who I like anything she's done outside of Golden Girls. She's freaking HILARIUOS in Lake Placid. And Bringing Down the House as well.

Then you guys MUST watch her on The Practice. She'll be on again next week as this "looney bitch," as one character calls her. She's blackmailing a defendant & won't shut up about the time somebody left burning dog crap on her front porch, and how it ruined her slippers, and she refers to the murder victim as the "slut all you guys wanted to screw and most of you probably did." The best was when she was at the defendant's mother's house, sitting next to the matron, getting her blackmail money, and the lawyer asks what she's doing there, and she cheerfully responds, "Oh, I'm just hear to suck on her shriveled old nipple, are you here for the other one?"
Ed Asner plays the judge, so it's a MTM reuinion of sorts.

I absolutely LOVE Betty White. She is just terrific in everything she does! Also, I think it is neat that she looks just like my late grandmother. Everyone that knew my grandmother says so. She especially looks like her during the Golden Girls time period. Therefore, when I see Betty White, I immediately think of my grandmother. Therefore, Betty holds a special, soft spot in my heart. I mean, how could I not love Betty?!

Sadly the 13 year old (which is old) Maggie the Moo Cow a/k/a Mahalia Jackson (hey she's black and she likes to sing   ), will have her spleen removed next Wednesday. Although the ultrasounds indicate she just has non-specific lesions in her spleen, personally, I fear they will find lots of cancer when they open her up. If so, I will not let them wake her (there goes my heart :( ). But, if that is the way it has to be - so be it :(
I would much rather "it" happen that way, she is in little to no pain right now, than what I had to go through with my other beloved Scottie the nine or so year old "Mimi the Sheep," who I had to keep in Cushings' Disease medication for three years. Then in the end (5/01), she was skin and bones (down to 13 pounds from 25 pounds in about a week) and her mouth and escaphogas had ulcerated (in about a week) - it was awful. I knew it was the end, but I did not realize how much she had deteriorated and fortunately, although she took lots of medication, she was pretty much fine for 95 % of those three years. She was born with one kidney and when it finally went, it was relatively swift (three weeks). But, the end was horrendous. I wanted to put her to sleep at the beginning of the end, but I am not her only owner and 50% does not a majority make. I actually thought about just stangeling her, but could not bring myself to do it. Then, to add insult to injury, the doctor's first injection of the euthenizing barbituate did not kill her. He had to leave the room for what seemed like ten days and get another one and find a better vein. I almost died.
Well, how's that for a downer!!!
On a lighter note, I have the one and one-half year old Wynn and Laine to share the grief.

Betty was great again Sunday night. Definitely up for an Emmy, I'm sure. I loved the line about the blond lawyer's mouth & "Oh my, you're black." She steals every scene. Ed Asner is good, too.
I liked when James Spader mouthed off at Eugene. James's character is much better than Bobby, whom I never cared for.
The only thing wrong with the show these days is they need to do more with Camryn Manheim. They're wasting her.

She will certainly get nominated. I think Kelley is going to pull one over on us and reveal that it was her that killed that woman. But I'm thinking that it's that asshole cop.
"No offense, dear, but your mouth looks like a drive-thru for oral sex."
I am totally loving this storyline. And when she went to the DA at the end of the show? All I could say was "Bitch!" and I never thought I'd say that about Rose Nylon.
Jill Clayburgh and Patrick Dempsey are pretty good, too; I'm diggin' them.
As for Spader? I loooooooooooooooooove him. He is great in everything, but especially this. They need to bring back Sharon Stone; their scenes together were on fire.
Camryn? You need a storyline!!! I lvoe her to death, but why won't they give her more to do?!

I agree with you. Her performance on The Practice is very good. She is also very funny. The lines that come out of her mouth... haha. Watching the show last night, I was convinced that either her character killed that woman or the cop. However, I am not ruling out the wife. I just can't wait to see this show next week! James Spader is a very welcome addition to the show. I love his character!

Most definitely. However, I think it would be just too obvious for the wife to have killed the mistress. But, considering how this season is so amazing, I doubt that we'll be let down! :D

From the IMDB:
ABC confirmed Wednesday that it will drop its long-running legal drama The Practice on May 16 but that some of the actors on the series -- and their characters -- will become part of another legal drama next season. While the David E. Kelley drama focused on criminal law, the new, as-yet-unnamed one will focus on civil law, the ABC announcement said. The show will presumably air in The Practice's Sunday-night time period and reportedly star James Spader, although no talent deals have yet been signed.
It's kind of bad but good news, dontcha think? :) As long as Spader is still around, I'm happy.

I liked the story last night. :) But good lord, they have to give her something better to do. Years ago they used to show her personal life and relationships. They do none of that now. Remember the episode where Elleanor called Lindsay a "pissy little bitch" and Lindsay jumpe dover the table and attacked her, eventually leading to the whole firm wrestling in the conference room? That show was a riot. My favorite scene was when Elleanor was trying to hail a cab and one wouldn't stop so she just ran into the street in front of a cab and yelled "Stop!"

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - William Shatner's guest-starring turn on "The Practice" may turn into something more permanent.
The veteran actor and former "Star Trek" star is likely to join James Spader in the spinoff -- or as ABC likes to call it, "evolution" -- of "The Practice" next season, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Spader confirmed earlier this week that he'll star in the new show.
Shatner began a "Practice" guest arc last week, playing Denny Crane, a high-powered partner at the law firm Alan Shore (Spader) hires in a wrongful-termination suit against Young, Frutt & Berluti. He's scheduled to appear on several more episodes through the end of the season.
Lake Bell ("Miss Match") and English actress Fay Masterson ("Johnson County War") are also set to join the spinoff, playing a law student and an attorney who work at Crane's firm. Current "Practice" regular Rhona Mitra is also in talks for the new show.
Shatner's last regular TV role was in the mid-'90s sci-fi series "Tek War." In addition to "Star Trek," he starred in the 1980s cop show "T.J. Hooker." Recent movie credits include "Miss Congeniality," "Osmosis Jones" and "Free Enterprise," in which he goofed on his "Trek" role.

De Mornay Gets 'Practice' For New Kelley Drama
(Tuesday, April 06 08:49 AM)
LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Rebecca De Mornay has signed on for a four-episode story arc on ABC's "The Practice." The part will then have the potential to expand into a regular gig when "The Practice" evolves into a new drama next season.
As fans of the legal drama know, new attorney Alan Shore (James Spader) is heading for a showdown against the attorneys of Young, Frutt & Berluti over his recent termination. He has enlisted the help of the firm Crane, Poole & Schmidt, including senior partner Danny Crane (William Shatner).
De Mornay will play another attorney at the new firm. After the conclusion of this season of "The Practice," Shore and Tara Eilson (Rhona Mitra) are expected to join Crane, Poole & Schmidt. Shatner is expected to be involved in the new David E. Kelley offering, and De Mornay will have the option to continue as a regular.
According to The Hollywoord Reporter, Fay Masterson was originally cast in the De Mornay part.
The "Risky Business" star's recent work includes the feature "Identity" and the telefilms "Salem Witch Trials" and "Stephen King's The Shining." She has also done guest stints on "ER" and "Boomtown." Last fall, the actress starred in the FOX pilot "No Place Like Home."
Meanwhile, NBC's "ER" is adding a sure-to-be-popular new intern in the form of "Once & Again" co-star Shane West. The "A Walk to Remember" star is set to don the scrubs as the medical drama returns for its 11th season next fall.
Over on The WB, the remake of "Dark Shadows" has found its Barnabas Collins. The 200-year-old vampire will be played by Scottish thespian Alec Newman. A veteran of The WB's soon-to-depart vampire drama "Angel" (he played Drogyn in the episode "A Hole in the World"), Newman's other credits include the recent miniseries adaptations of "Dune" and "Children of Dune."
Annie Potts ("Designing Women) will co-star in ABC's untitled comedy pilot about a father (William Devane) and son (Tom Everett Scott) who reconnect after being fathers at the same time. Potts will play Devane's ex-wife and Scott's mother. Also at ABC, Craig Ferguson ("The Drew Carey Show") will appear in the Gina Gershon comedy "Hot Mom."

I never cared for Annie Potts except in Pretty in Pink, but that movie was so painful I was grasping for things to like.

I thought she was hysterical in Designing Women. I like her dry, sarcastic sense of humor. Pretty In Pink sucked. Most brat pack movies did, though.
The new spin-off is going to have quite a star-studded cast: Spader, Shatner, De Mornay, Mitra...and whover else they can woo in.
I saw some flick with Spader Saturday night called "Secretary" and it was incredibly funny. Not for everyone, but it was great. And it had Lesley Ann Warren, who I <33333333333 to death. She's fantastic.

She's great in Victor/Victoria, & didn't Stevie write Crying in The Night after seeing her in a movie?

Yeah, it was old Disney western flick.
I love her in everything she does. Especially "Clue" (which is one of my favorites). I even watch her TV movies when she makes them. Good lord, I even own her version of "Cinderella" form the sixties.

And wasn't Rebecca D. M. the one in Hand That Rocks The Cradle? She was a freak in that.

The scenes where Marlene dies from the falling glass and where Rebecca threatens the little boy were pretty intense. And oh yeah, that surprise party was pretty funny.

Yeah, but in the movies? They're almost always plus-sized.
Rosie, Monique, the list goes on forever.
And you forgot Christine Baranski on Cybill. :D

Baranski's mouth is disturbing.
And we all know the famous fat clause in Vivian Vance's contract.

Monique is in a lot of movies where she plays the fat comic relief. She's got a new one coming up called "Soul Plane." it look sincredibly stupid.
Rosie was in the god-awful, nightmare-inducing "Exit To Eden," clad in bondage gear. She was in "Gimme A Break," too, and a bunch of other ****. "A League of Her Own" was good.

I'm talking about classic pairings.
I don't think they qualify, at least not in my book.

Well, excuse me. ;)
Marilyn Monroe would be considered fat today, you know. She was a 12. :D

I thought she was a 16 at some point.
I did a lesson on beauty standards last week and said she was, anyway.
