Does anyone else think that perhaps Stevie has has hip surgery or foot/toe surgery in these two months she has had off? If not, I hope she has been doing everything possible to repair herself because I am, perhaps in vain, hoping for a whole lot more animation from La Nicks this next time around!!!

Me too. I think nowadays, the recoup time from hip replacement is pretty quick. So it's possible, although we don't know what was wrong with it in the first place.

I looked up some FYI on a replacement surgery and the turn around time was around six weeks, which would be cutting it close, esp. considering complications, etc. I think maybe she has been in therapy or some other sort of conditioning, even perhaps rest! I certrainly hope so for her sake because at times last year she looked a little frail!

I can't imagine she would risk surgery during a tour break.

Cool - thanks for the FYI
I wonder if she needed total replacement. etc. Are there other types of hip surgery? She also could just be in physical therapy - does that exist for the hip like it does for the neck and back?
Thanks and sorry for the 100 questions

My dad had a hip replacement last March and did remarkably well, but you still have to be really careful; like with any major surgery it can take up to a year to totally heal. It is very serious surgery and a painful recovery.
{side note: ...but...we were at the MAC SHOW almost six months later to the day!! :nod: I was really scared for him, being in 2nd row with all the commotion... and standing so long, but it was fine and he SOOOOOO rocks! ~ cuz i wouldn't have made it to my second show without him.. he hoofed it down to the box office to get me, him, and my bf tickets the morning they went on sale, also paying for ours until we were able to pay him back, he is that much of a fan!!!! he is 72 and I am 42!! Go Dad!!!! he says he's goin for it again in '04!!:D }

When I was little, my hip bone had not "locked" and doctors said I wouldn't be able to walk. My parents had a choice between surgery (supposedly the most effective), a cast that would need to be changed every week, and a brace (the least effective). My mother was against surgery on an infant unless absolutely necessary, so that was ruled out, and a cast on a baby can get pretty gross, so they didn't go with that. They picked the brace, but the doctors warned of two problems. First, it did little to help support the hip. Second, other parents complained that getting it on and off was very difficult due to an annoying lock on it. My mom says that it was the most aggravating experience: It could take her forty-five minutes just to put it on me or take it off, and she would work up a sweat. Worse, before long she found that I could pick the same lock myself in very little time, and as I got older, she would come in at night to check on me and the brace would come flying across the room at her. The doctor recommended that she start putting the brace under my pajama bottoms, and that helped, since I could pick a lock but I couldn't figure out how to pull my pants down. Anyway, I managed to surprise folks agai by standing on my own as long as I had furniture to lean on. Then at an early birthday my parents' friends arrived with a huge teddy bear (the one from the stuffed animal thread). Supposedly I got up, walked over to it, said "TEDDY!", put it on my head, walked back across the room, and fell down on my ass, as the adults stood there, mouths gaping. Today my hip is fine, and Stevie, if you're reading this, I can work the same miracle on yours.;)

I can just see Stevie pulling a Minnelli with her hip.
She'll go in normal, then come out with two asses, a deformed Shirley Temple 'do, and a body cast with Rhiannon drawings all over it.

Can't you see the dent in my head?! That's why I need 80 shots of Botox every other day!
He was such an ass. Botox does not hurt when it's injected. What an actor.

I love how a five foot tall, wheezing, aging drunk with two hip replacements can beat a man into a coma!

I know!
The dead giveaway that he was lying was his account that she beat him on top of his head. He's much taller than she is, I don't understand it. Did she get a step-ladder and then beat him on top of his head? And he couldn't stop it from happening? He just stood there while Wheezie beat him standing on a step stool?!

It's going to take A LOT more than 80 shots of botox to clean up that face.

Actually, unlike Liza and the insect known as D. Guest, there is no question in my mind that Louise Jefferson could have beaten shrimpy George Jefferson to a pulp

My fav., of many, episode was when they hired Florence and Florence looked at the Jeffersons and said "You both live here" and then she looked at Roxy Roker and said "You live here too?" They both said yes and Florence in her best ghetto voice said "Well child if we overcame - how come nobody told me!!!!"

Isabel hated that Sherman was cast with her because she did not feel she belonged with a "pipsqueak."
A favorite episode - The one where George's old friend became a woman & Louise though he was cheating with her, so he had his moronic male cleaner dress in drag to try to pretend he was the friend. The guy hit on Florence & when George nudges him, his voice goes from deep to feminine.
Also, who can forget Tom "being" black?
