a simple survey here:
"the dance's" or "say you will's" and why?

I'd be inclined to say the 'Dance' version, but I have to go with the 'Say You Will' version, because I love the long instrumental coda. :D
Either way, the song is aces.

As much as I love the outro for the SYW version, I have to go with the vocals on The Dance. I also like the drums better and the "ahhhhhs" at the end.

I agree with BlueGrass, for the same reason. I love that harmony at the end. I wonder why LB thought it didn't translate well to stage? Seems fine - even better - to me.

I prefer the Dance version. His voice is AMAZING on it!

If I really had to choose I'd probably go with the Dance version, but the SYW version has really grown on me, especially for the blissful coda like JS pointed out.

I like the Dance version way better. On SYW the song lacks of some power imo, I am not too happy about his voice on that and I am also not too fond of the bridge recycling from YDOYDont (which is one of my LB favourites btw). I think BTLH doesn`t fit on the new album and not only because it was not new. Right behind Silver boredom BTLH is the next song I hardly listen to. I prefered if he had added some more experimental stuff instead of this. With Peacekeeper, SYHA, BTLH and WTWCT the pop fraction among his songs was a little bigger than I had hoped. I like this aspect of his work too but BTLH was the one too much for me. Carne brought up this consideration before the album was released and just some snippets were leaked and all in all it really became that way a little. After the whole talk of "pushing the envelope" etc I would have liked a little more stuff like Red rover or- if it`s the pop choice then why not take the superb "Down on Rodeo" instead of using an already released track...?

Direct emotion in the voice on the dance is better, but instrumentation and that killerguitarouttro on say you will eh... not free of emotion either.
So today i pick SYW. Tomorrow the Dance.;)

After the whole talk of "pushing the envelope" etc I would have liked a little more stuff like Red rover or- if it`s the pop choice then why not take the superb "Down on Rodeo" instead of using an already released track...? I think 'Say You Will' does an excellent job of straddling the line between the things that make Mac songs so great, and the idea of "pushing the envelope."
Songs like "Murrow," "Come," "Red Rover," and "Say Goodbye" definitely push the envelope in regards to a Fleetwood Mac album, as do "Illume," "Everybody Finds Out," and "Running Through The Garden"... though to a lesser extent.
But it's probably also these very songs that cause so many critics (and even some fans) to complain that it sounds like two solo albums put together.
Those seven songs most especially sound more along the lines of the types of songs Lindsey & Stevie would normally release on a solo album, rather than with Fleetwood Mac.
But with just the two writers now, I think the line between "solo material" and "Fleetwood Mac material," is almost non-existant.
Having said that, you can't alienate the Fleetwood Mac fans... the ones who don't buy Lindsey & Stevie's solo albums. So you have to put in enough of the things that give FM their trademark sound.
I'm sure that's why Stevie wrote the title track in the first place... to make up for the loss of the pure pop bliss that Christine normally would have contributed: some great, catchy little song, with an upbeat sing-along chorus.
I'm sure that's also why they chose to include "Steal Your Heart Away" and "Bleed To Love Her"... because they're both more "Fleetwood Mac sounding," and they both actually include contributions from Christine.
But I also see what you mean... I would have loved it if "Down On Rodeo" or "Somebody's Gotta Change Your Mind" had made the album.
I'd hate to lose the studio version of "Bleed To Love Her" though... but maybe they could have included it on the bonus disc that came with the limited edition version.

I like the Dance version better. I have to say that I skip over the SYW version. It's just not my favorite song.

I love The Dance version of this song, if only for the pure emotion in Lindsey's voice. However, I have to go with the SYW version as being my favorite. The guitar sounds just a little more filled out. It just makes the song sound better to me.

The Dance version by far. His vocal on it is so powerful, and the Christine harmonies are *so* prominent. And the "Oooh woooah ohhhhh"s at the end give me chills. The SYW version is over-produced and the drums are horrible, imo.

The Dance. Better vocals and arrangement. The SYW version has too much damn noodling for my tastes. It just goes on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on...

>>>>Buckingham’s lead vocal is powerful and pretty on this original BLEED TO LOVE HER from THE DANCE. He amazingly sustains his vibrato on the chorus of “bleed to love herrrrrrrr” and the “whoh…ahhh..ahhhhh”…finale like I’ve never heard him sing before!..........Nicks’ harmony is predominantly heard on the chorus here, where as on SAY YOU WILL, Christine McVie’s pipes are prevalent, the latter’s voice which I really prefer in the blend……
>>>On his SAY YOU WILL rendition of BLEED TO LOVE HER, Buckingham is less nasal and sexily almost “breathes” his verses ...which I like, too. His voice on the middle eight is sweeter and clearer than on the more intense DANCE bridge, and the harmony here is not dominated by Nicks as on the DANCE:
Somebody's got to see this through
All the world is laughing at you
Somebody's got to sacrifice
If this whole thing's gonna turn out right
>>>>>>> I never tire of Buckingham’s swirling array of sounds in any piece he performs. The echo-pleasing “And how she takes my breath away (breath away)” is a lovely nuance on SAY YOU WILL…. and his guitar coda doesn’t run out of gas for me, as I like its seemingly infinite mellowness. …………..
Both offerings are so passion-filled…… Sooooo?.......I like the --- I mean ----I love -- Oh, I don’t know, I don’t know…………..

I really love The Dance version, because it is live, so there is no restaint or confines. Therefore, you can really feel Lindsey's strong emotions in this version, more so than in the studio version on Say You Will.

I prefer the Dance. There's something about the drum beat on SYW that takes away from the song. There's great emotion in the Dance and great harmony.

The Dance version, by far! :) I love the different rhyhtm, the cleaner lead vocals, and most of all Christine's VERY prominent harmonies. :)

I guess I am the only one that likes the SYW version better. I love Stevie's backup vocals on this song- the raspy "sand-paper" way she sings "I would Bleed to love Her" (for lack of a better term) just gets me every time. And I also love how this is the only song on SYW that you can hear the three-part harmony, with Christine, that make the Mac, the Mac!

Well, I love the Dance version because of the "whhooooaaa" at the end. I also like Christine's part and Stevie's on "Somebody's got to see this through/all the world is laughing at you."
I do like the guitar coda on SYW and the harmonizing, but as others have mentioned, I detest the drums. So the Dance version it is.
