Let's see:

Gay people are the source of your problems America - so vote for me and I'll take care of them! I mean who the hell do you black - I mean Er a you gay people think you are? - Trying to be normal like "us" - Please!!! In the Lord's name, go back in the closet and don't bother us anymore with your sick, sin filled, promiscuous lifestyle! What - Oh my brother - Well, I mean, he didn't know those were call girls and its not a really, really most hugest kind of sin unless you do it in this country, get caught, and/or are gay! Again, gay people are going to burn in hell no matter what. But, we straight/WASP people can screw around all we want because we are the chosen ones. Therefore, do not mind that the same language that damns blacks - I mean Er a - gays to eternal hell also damns any adulterer, that book does not apply to us.

On the other stuff, yes Iraq had a program to develop WMD, Yes the world agreed about it, but I refuse to answer why I alleged knowingly false information to the American public and the world to make my case more compelling so that non-believers would believe me. I mean PUUHHHLLEEEZZZEEEE - after we invaded them, I said I should not have used it. What else do want from me?

What a bastard.

He practically said that gay people are the root of some of our problems in America. He actually believes that abstinence programs will work. He actually believes that the majority of the country is agaisnt gay marriages. AND he believes that his joke of a program entitled "No Child Left Behind" is a good thing.

He has no clue.

You didn't mention Clinton's Executive Order of 1996 - guess that was okay. Ever see the Catholic Tom Daschle squirm on this subject? It's quite amusing.

By the way, I do support domestic partnerships and happen to be a Republican. Many of my friends don't understand how that can be, but does anyone believe 100% in the rhetoric their party spews? I don't. I just happen to side with the Republicans on most issues.

My thing is teach abstinence all you want because that really is the only way not to get AIDS, pregnant, etc. through sex. But, also realize that while some people may hopefully buy that concept and apply it in their lives, many if not the vast majority will not no matter how many billions of $$$ you put into teaching it. Therefore, teach other ave. of less safe but far more practicle procedures (condoms, monogamy, etc.). This at least gives kids a chance.

They need to trash the teaching of abstinence. These days, kids are very sexual and they will not stop fooling around. Screw the abstinence education and pass out spermicide and condoms.

I am unsure which Executive Order that was. If you are suggesting that the D are just as bad on the subject of gay marriage, you are correct in that the Defense of Marriage Act overwhelmingly passed with bipartisan support.

I do know, however, that Bill Clinton signed an Executive Order making it illegal to fire a govt. employee solely on the grounds that they are gay. To his credit, W has not rescinded that Order. Also, I do not think W is against gay people per se. I just think he has run out of demons to point to in an attempt to rally his conservative far right religious base. So, he selects gay people because he knows gay people are hated (I know of no other adequate word) by the conservative far right religious base. Notice, btw that W cleverly did not mention civil unions. He, and more importantly Karl Rove, will let the talk show guests right now address that.

Finally, I agree, the SOTU is a big pow wow about stuff few actually believe.

Now, I didn't hear that at all.

He wants to increase education in this area. What is the big deal? How can you argue with the fact that IT IS THE ONLY WAY to prevent pregnancy and STDs?

Unlike some conservatives, I think it is good to have education on all these things, including providing condoms. I don't stick my head in the sand and pretend that if I don't talk about it, it won't happen.

Kids are gonna do what they are gonna do. Parents need to take a more active role in this type of education for their kids. Lord knows, I didn't get it from my parents!

Oh, they should mention it. But what they want to do is ditch the safe sex education and focus only on abstinence; that's a big mistake.

As for drug testing in schools, I don't support it. I think it's an invasion of privacy that should not be conducted by a school and it's staff.

Sorry - I thought you were saying don't even teach abstinence. ;)

I thjnk the drug testing should be done in situations like sports, erradic behavior, probable cause, etc. I do not support random drug testing although I am not vehemently opposed to it as the govt. does have a legitimate interest in ensuring kids attend school in a drug free environment. I mean, the school can search a locker . . .

Kerry's on TV right now talking about gay marriage.

He was one of 14 who opposed the Defense of Marriage Act. He said he personally doesn't believe in gay marriage, but that his personal views should not cloud his judgement and that he believes gays should have the right to marry because there is a seperation of church of state. :D

In my school, if you played a sport, drug testing was mandatory AS IT SHOULD BE. The problem was, the students knew this and during pre-season they wouldn't do drugs. And, too bad the star athletes who also happened to be e heads were never the ones randomly drug tested during the season but me, who played soccer, was on the freakin' bowling team, never had a drug in her life, was. Well, I guess we know what market will benefit from this..."TAKE THESE AND YOUR PISS WON'T SHOW YOU USE DRUGS! WOOT." I've got news for them...if they were to random drug test EVERYONE, you wouldn't have a student body left...

I will agree. Waste of money.

People should be able to say the word "God". It's on our money for GOD'S sake!

He can say make a little mention, but this is too much for me:

"My fellow citizens, we now move forward, with confidence and faith. Our nation is strong and steadfast. The cause we serve is right, because it is the cause of all mankind. The momentum of freedom in our world is unmistakable, and it is not carried forward by our power alone. We can trust in that greater power who guides the unfolding of the years. My only beef with the God mentions in govt. sanctioned public speech is that it is a lie. We are not one nation "under God" because they are talimg about the Christian God to the exclusion of any other God. Interestingly, that phrase was put in there in the 1950's in an attempt to ward off Communism (go figure  ). Originally, they wanted "One nation under Jesus," but it was thought that might exclude too many Americans. Also, I believe the Sup. Ct. has prohibited the govt. making anyone say the Plede of Allegiance as the "under God" part seemingly violates the Frist Amendment's Establishment Clause.

But, in the end, I think arguing over these references to God is a waste of time when they are vastly supported by an overwhelming majority of Americans and I think we should be concentrating of feeding the hungry, etc. Yet, the fact that the far religious right slipped in "under God" on that BS ground just irks me  Sort of like Georgia putting the conferderate flag on its state flag in the 50's as an FU to the anti-segregationist Fed. Govt. - then having the nerve 50 years later to say it was always on the flag and is just a harmless reference to Southern heritage.

Yeah - I don't know where the heck he was going with that. I guess it was his "attempt" at linking the drug education/testing at schools and the fact that kids look up to athletes that participate in steriod use.

What I did laugh at was the token shot of Tom Brady. While I will never complain because I think that he is a FOX, that shot of him was totally out of left field (or right field, for those of you of the liberal persuation ;) ).

Here is a lowdown on the two sides:

Republicans:

no abortion
no gun control
lower taxes to stimulate economic growth
states rights as opposed to a larger Federal govt.
no gay rights whatsoever

Democrats:

abortion
gun control
higher taxes
a larger Federal govt. and less individual state autonomy
possible civil unions and/or domestic partner benefits for gay people (this is not unanimous)

These are just general ideas, but are an indication nonetheless. Also, few if any politicians are truly one or the other based on the main issues. For example, most politicians agree on the middle ground that the right to own a gun is in the Const., but there must be safeguards such as age limit for owning a handgun, permits, etc.

Interstingly, there are "spun issues" such as religion. The far religious right (which is not all Christians by any means) frames the issue this way - "The liberals are taking God out of the public squares, are driving us away from God, and are telling us we cannot believe in or worship God" a la the recent removal of the 2 ton granite 10 Commandments monument in the rotunda of the Supreme Court of Alabama. The truth of the matter is no one ever said you cannot believe in the Ten Commandments or God. They just recognized that an activist judge (they exist on both sides) put it there about three years ago in the middle of the night and said "this is the law." The Federal Courts, rightly so in my opinion, found essentially that because the Commandments say "I am the Lord thy God - thou shall have other Gods" and the that only two of the Ten Commandments are actually against the law (stealing and killing), the Chief Judge's clandestine placement of the monument in the Al Sup. Ct. buuilding and then calling it the law violated the 1st Amendment's prohibition of the govt. from establishing an official state religion. So, how the issue is framed is everything - do not be fooled by it.

To be fair and balanced, the far left liberals want the right for any woman to have a fetus aborted at will with no state control over the procedure except perhaps for safety. They frame things like "parental consent" or the less restrictive "parental notification" as the death knell for the right to choose to have an abortion. They claim that if the notification measures pass, that will begin the chipping away at the right to choose. In reality, most parents have indicated they at least want to know whether their minor child is undergoing a medical prodedure and they certainly would be required to know if the child was having an appendectomy.

So, IMO it is all about the framing of the issues. Don't be fooled by them before you take your stance.

I hope that helped!!!!!

P.S. the other thing is that for the last 20 or so years, the party not in power does everything it can to mudsling the party in power. A good example of this is the Clinton witch hunt. After like five years of not being able to prove anything wrong with Whitewater and all of the unrelated subsequent investigations stemming from that initial investigation, they finally got Clinton for lying about having sex with an intern. While lying under oath is the crime of obstruction of justice, many felt and history demonstrates that this is not what the Const. framers had in mind when they allowed for impeachment of a President for "high crimes and misdemeanors." Yet, the far right controlled the House and that is what happened.

Similarly and IMO, the far left now belittles every single thing W does. A good example IMO is comparing W to Hitler when although there may be vague comparisons in other areas, W can in no way be compared to Hitler because W is not trying to conquer the world and make us the only race while extinguishing millions of people not in that race as Hitler did. Also, while I am no fan of W, he has done some good things IMO like the tax cuts (which are working according to almost every economic indicator) and the new medical bill (I know I know - its not perfect, but it is better than what we had before and both parties passed it  ).

And since conservative/Republican politicians make a concerted effort to always push Christian family values, it's not entirely implausible for one to assume that they're not going to be making good use of the Kama Sutra any time soon! Otherwise, they'd look like hypocrites! ;)

No, it was supposedly Newsweek that did it back in '90 and they found that only devouts from the Bible belt have fantastic sex.

Somehow, I don't buy it...

What I meant by no good sex was what Johnny said: only missionary. Also, under sodomy laws that are still on the books and demanded by the right-wingers, that means no oral sex, folks...I'm still astounded they didn't try to bust Monica for sodomy (Virginia has a law against it...).

Also, lest we forget Leviticus' (Ch. 15) prohibition of sex while for seven days after menstrating under possible penalty of Death. I am sure they all wait for that. Moreover, (Leviticus 15:29) "[a]nd on the eighth day she shall take unto her two turtles, or two young pigeons, and bring them unto the priest, to the door of the tabernacle of the congregation." I am sure that happens - haven't you seen all of the pigeons around the big city churches "laugh: Finally, the same Chapter dictates that a man who copulates with a woman while she is mentruating, must sep. himself for seven days. Yea right

Also, please procced directly to the gas chamber if these rules are not followed because after all the same chapter says God hates homosexual acts and THAT certainly must be true. Let's not pick and choose people
