View Full Version : "Rumours" demos
(i posted a similar thread regarding "The Wild Heart" demos on the Stevie Nicks forum)....
I'm currently making some cds off of all the files i've collected the past couple of years. I need more disk space and this is one small way i can accomplish that.
Anyway. i categorize my files as "Tusk era demos" and "Mirage era demos" etc etc....I don't have a lot for the Rumours era.
I currently only have good versions of "Think About It","Keep Me There", and the original "Silver Springs" (not the finished studio version but the one with the long ending).
What else is out there? And, i know this is really picky but when i categorize stuff i lump together whatever was recorded in that time period...for example, i have "greta" as a RAL demo because it was recorded during that era. It just gives more of a continuity feel to the vocals, types of songs that were being written etc....
I do have a cassette version of many of the stripped down Rumours songs before overdubs were recorded. I guess i need better versions of those but am really looking for demos of songs that were never recorded and released for the album. I know there's really not many out there.
SO! With that said....what else is out there and would anyone like to send me any that they have?
THANKS!!!!!
David

Not all of these are necessarily demos for "Rumours," but they were recorded in that time frame (ca. 1976): "If You Ever Did Believe," "Smile at You" (many people mistakenly call this a "Tusk" outtake), "The Tower," "Sisters of the Moon," "Sleeping Angel," "Secret Love," "Watchdevil," "After the Glitter Fades," "Silver Springs," "The Highwayman," "Kind of Woman," "Leather & Lace," "No Light."
I think "Forest of the Black Roses," "The Three Birds of Rhiannon," "Mistaken Love" & "Rhiannon" piano demos were recorded in March 1978 for the proposed movie rather than for a Fleetwood Mac project. I don't think any known version of "The Dealer" predates 1978, & so was never considered for "Rumours." Other possible 1976 recordings from "Almanac," including "Nomad," "You Could Forget" & "Designs of Love," may predate Stevie's joining Fleetwood Mac (maybe they were the demos that Buckingham & Nicks worked on for their aborted second album in 1974).

JOE or anybody,
Could you possibly send the long Silver Springs to me, with the long ending? My mom has told me about it for years and I have always wanted to hear it.

now i always thought that "if you ever did believe" was recorded aroung the BD era only because i could have sworn it was copyrighted in 1981 when Louise Goffin recorded it. But, then again i always suspected it sounded much earlier than that because of Stevie's higher register. "smile at you" confused me too as well as "secret love"...i assumed the latter was tusk. The rest which are piano demos are definately from that 1876 era...stevie's voice is very high, taking into account, too, that the tape speed of the source is correct. oh, i was unsure about "watchdevil" too....i had thought that it was possibly B/N but that drum is definately Mick.
Thanks!
