There is a new station in Dallas 106.7 that plays a Stand Back cover. It's really good. I mean for a cover. I haven't caught the girl's name or group name but it's the first remake that makes me want to dance.

And I'd like to hear Stevie do Green Manalishi.

She did-it's on that "Who's the New Girl" bootleg. She doesn't sing lead on it, but there's some classic Stevie wailing! :D

You can hear the Linus Loves on the Ministry of Sound Website:

http://www.ministryofsound.com/Music/Singles/LinusLoves-StandBack.htm

I've heard both versions on our little local dance station in Seattle c89, which if you want to hear dance music is a pretty decent station considering it is a high school radio station.FYI, it can be heard online: http://www.c895fm.com/

I like them both ok, but I'm more happy probably about more exposure for Stevie. More royalties for Stevie, too, I'm sure ("ching ching"!)

But I didn't know about the Ropoms On Fire cover, nor have I ever heard the Rod Stewart Stand Back. Can anyone send? Muchas gracias in advance!

Word.

I believe an estimated cool $5 mil. for the Dixie Chicks....the kick back from these must be mighty nice as well as i'm sure they're number ones in the UK and Australia...good for you, Stevie

The Linus version is a bit cheesy but if you can access the Vocal Mix...then it gets better.

The Stereo Soundclash version is better IMHO.

Maybe someone with a website will be kind enough to post them both for us sometime soon (hint hint)

i actually kind of like the Linus version....i like the "i would cry" vocal thing she does....however, i don't really like the "la la la" lines...

Actaully, I couldn't disagree more. I bought the import CD singles of both Stereo Soundclash and Linus Loves. The LL version remains closer to Stevie's, but is just updated to today's times. The Stereo Soundclash is all out of wack, at least the radio edit is. It just never goes anywhere.

Each to their own.

Has anyone else here seen the video to the Linus version?

It's also a bit cheesy and seems to be centered around a high school dance theme....ie shy boy trying to get over fears and ask pretty girl to dance.

I don't know why I think its a high school theme.

Oh well.

I too got the impression it was meant to be a HS formal. Yep - very cheesy. I haven't heard the Stereo Soundclash one. But I don't mind the Linus Loves (with vocals). But I mean its such a good song, how can you go wrong. Along with Jake you can add me to tlist of fans of the Rod Stewart version.

I have the Linus Loves vocal club mix...I kind of dig it. I mean, it is what it is...club music isn't supposed to be some stellar vocal (although there are some for sure)...it's the beat and the mix so it's decent. Anyway, i'll try adding it tonight to my fleebo account so you guys can download it. If it doesn't work, perhaps dissention or someone else wouldn't mind hosting if I sent it? That would be a lot easier than e-mailing everyone  I'll let everyone know!

My mistake.
And when I tell you that WTTRS is a good song and that Stevie should cover Peter Green songs, tell ChiliD that you remember it as him posting. That ought to go over big.
It's nice knowing you before he kills you.:wavey:

I'll go to the Peter Green forum and tell people of ChiliD's sugestion that Stevie should take over the Splinter Group now that Peter's gone AWOL.

EDIT: You didn't believe me did you! Ta-da (http://ledge.fleetwoodmac.net/showthread.php?s=&postid=136544#post136544). Hmm.... I wonder what it feels like to be skinned alive?

Compensate the poor fella, Joe. A nice wav of an a capella WISYA would be perfect.

ah yes, that's a classic.

I also love her "World Turning" back-up vocals, I wonder if those were impromptu and if they were, what Chris and Lindsey thought about her singing on "their song."
