I am in a weird mood. LOL I was just wondering what is it about Lindsey that draws you to him? What are the attributes about him you like/love the most? All us Ledgies have our fave FM member, which is coolness, but I'm just curious as to why we Lindsey fanatics are so er....fanatical about Liddy Buck. :)

The thing that drew me to him first off, was that voice. Him singing Holiday Road and Dancing Across the USA over the credits to Vacation, I'll never forget that day. The songs just HIT me like a Mack truck. I was going through a rough time in my life and the songs and his voice just drew me in....an escape. :)

Then, I heard the Dance version of ISA when I bought the video on Ebay, and forget it, I was hooked for a lifetime. Seeing him play the guitar like that...the intensity, darkness and emotion shot right through me. Then, hearing him totally redo Big Love and Go Insane, two songs that I'd fallen in love with at FIRST listen was amazing!!

Listening to clips from his solo albums on the net, I heard so many great snippets of Lindsey and fell in love with the voice, instrumentation...the vibe.

THEN...BAM...I see the cover of those albums...and WOAH MAMA! BONUS!! LOL He's talented AND gorgeous!! ;)

Of course, no matter how much I adore this man for his beautiful blue eyes, youthful appearance, shy attitude and just plain HOTNESS (LOL!!), it's the music that draws me in, the unique sounds to his songs, that voice, the lyrics.

Oh boy, there are so many reasons. But these days I would say the most important factor relates to my own songwriting. When I write with guitar in hand now, or try to put music to the words that usually come first, I really make an effort to match the musical mood to the message in the lyrics. I believe Lindsey is a master at that. And as far as the words, because of my background as a journalist, I tend to be quite literal in my writing. But often (not always) I put my lyrics through the Lindsey filter: Do I have too many words? Does each word pack enough punch? If there is humor and sarcasm, are they well-placed or gratuitous? Am I emphasizing the right syllables in the delivery (One might argue Lindsey often emphasizes the wrong ones, but from a creative standpoint they may be the perfect ones.)

Beyond that, there is the simple pleasure of enjoying the man's work.

I think LB is great because the man can play great guitar in his own style. Also, I love that he can create other artists' work (and there are many) into masterpeices. Finally, he is very, very gracious with fans both on and off of the stage.

LB - YOU RULE!!!!

I adore Buckingham's pretty, tenor pipes!!!!!!!!

On the breathy, SAY GOODBYE, {live or on SAY YOU WILL}........BLEED TO LOVE HER ........STEEL YOUR HEART AWAY.........and his romantic sonic paradise, OUT OF THE CRADLE album in it's entirety.

Buckingham has incredible range on I'M SO AFRAID, the sensual BIG LOVE, and the impassioned GO INSANE.....and has power- spunk on SECOND HAND NEWS in concert.

I love all these songs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

John McVie says Buck doesn't give himself enough credit for his singing.............................

He can sing powerfully on the rockers and soft 'n mellifluously on the ballads, simultaneously playing some intricate guitar riff.
Amazing!

Buckingham is the best guitarist in the business today!!!

Well, I wouldn't call myself a "Lindsey fanatic". Maybe if I had gotten up close enough to him to strum his guitar or have him drip sweat on me (LOL) during this last tour, I might be. But alas, I was in row 16. Anyway, what drew me initially to the Mac was #1, the music & #2 the chemistry between the band members. Lindsey is a great song writer, singer & a great guitarist. I'm really sold on his guitar playing since seeing him on tour. Not that I ever thought b/f that he stunk. No way. No one can play that guitar like he can & with no pick! I have one of his solo CDs, & I love it.

Usually the band member I favor is the one I watch the most on stage, & though I watched Stevie a lot during the concert in Philly, I found myself watching Lindsey the most. He had the most energy, & he was the most memorizing to watch.

he "taught" me how to play the guitar:) If I hadn't been so impressed by his music, I probably wouldn't have been so fanatical in learning to play that thing. And wouldn't have enjoyed playing it so much!

I like his songs, admire his playing, and respect his dedication to his craft.

His guitar work, his songwriting, his production capabilities and most of all his integrity as an artist. Oh, and it doesn't hurt that he's easy on the eyes ;)

Although Id say Stevie is probably the member I give most of my attention to, it was actually GYOW that got me into FM whilst seeing Forrest Gump at the pics! But it wasnt until I saw him in concert and met him that I realised just how goddamn amazing he is! Since Manchester and seeing him kick the **** out of the guitar Iv seen him in a completely different way, also knowing how he can take a song, ANY song and turn it into a masterpiece.

The first FM song I ever heard was GYOW and I loved it! After that I heard Stevie's Rooms on Fire blaring away in the 80's. I became a Stevie fan first I think. Gradually I bought vids and CD's now DVD's and I found an old copy of a FM tour that we had taped off the TV in the 80's, I can't remember the name of this particular tour but the songs on there are fab. Does anyone know what this tour may be if I give them a little insight?

Lindsey says "It's been a while since we've played now and the rumours have it that we are splitting up, but us guys just refuse to go away" then Stevie comes running onstage in a beaded pink/pastel beaded top singing Gypsy. (she looks gorgeous) Anyone shed any light on this?

It's the one where LB is doing a jamming bit with JMcV. LB has his creamy coloured hat on and I think they are playing It's Not That Funny. Lindsey is smoking and his ash is dropping onto JOhn as John jams with him. Mick is playing drums in the background absolutely off his head.. It's so brilliant the whole scene. I was totally mesmerised by Lindsey's playing and personality. I love the relationship/chemistry he has with the band, especially Stevie. The whole love story thing is wonderful between them.

I think he's sexy, gorgeous and I am totally in awe of him. If he wants a blonde keep fit instructor who covers FM stuff then I live in UK and am here waiting for him lol.

LB - COOL SEXY GUY!!!

First of all, welcome to the Ledge! :D

That video you are talking about is the Mirage concert video. It's got THE GREATEST version of The Chain EVER on it, IMO. That whole concert is spectacular and her doing SOTM with the speaking in tongues.....WOAH!

I was a very shy 12 year old who discovered music and amongst it was Fleetwood Mac. I fell in love with Lindsey when I saw the Hold Me video as he was and still is very good to look at;) .
I think he is an incredible musician and has done some fabulous work on his own material and other artists work as well.
I am still fond of him til this day and I am 32 now. Twenty years of Lindsey and I must say that it wouldn't have been the same without him!

I have been a Mac fan for over 25 years (yep I am old) and I always liked Lindsey a lot but I guess I became a little obsessive after I saw him on the OOTC tour in Boston. Just seeing him play live in a small club was like "a religious experience."
He is not only a amazing guitar player and performer but he just has "it" in his own little kind of shy way.
I became even more obsessive with my Lindsey love after seeing the SYW shows. I can't put my finger on it but he just seems to have the whole package. The amazing guitar playing, the vocals, the songwriting, the producing, etc. He's got it all baby!

Oh yeah and he is very soft spoken and has the most amazing sparkling blue eyes, too. ;)

I don't even know where to start! I guess the music is the logical place to start, since without his music, I would never have heard of Lindsey Buckingham. I've come a long way in my Fleetwood Mac journey, from being a little third grader memorizing the Rumours songs because my teenage sister had the album (oh, if I could get my hands on that!) to being a casual fan in the 80s to being uninterested in my teens to being nearly obsessed with them now!!

My favorite part of Lindsey's (and some FM) songs is usually the music, but his lyrics can be powerful, too. Sometimes, like on EOTW, I'm kind of disappointed when the lyrics begin, because I'm enjoying the music so much. So I like that he does instrumental pieces and intros. But I do love to hear him sing. When his part begins on Beautiful Child, I just have to close my eyes and listen. He still has a great voice.

At the risk of sounding like an obsessed female fan, I have to say that he is also incredibly attractive and sexy. When I look at photos of him, his eyes are just so blue and so intense, and his fingers... I think I'll stop there :)

Thank you for that information Christy. It's been bugging me for ages what that tour was. The one I have taped they were in concert in Los Angeles what did you think of that particular version of In The Eyes of the World?

Also Stevie ends up with loads of soft cuddly toys, one of them being a huge white unicorn which she has under her arm and that's one of the first times I've actually seen her interact with the audience, shaking hands, taking gifts from them and picking up flowers etc. It's all really wonderful stuff.

The funniest of all in that video is Mick's behaviour, he really has lost the plot, his eyes as wide as saucers, his drumming supreme and the way he drives the band with his personality. WOWWWW.

Lorraine:)

ps: nice to see someone from Manchester on the Ledge. :) Hi

Christy

I had to have another peep at the video when you mentioned Stevie doing SOTM and speaking in tongues, WOW yes, know what you mean it's fantastic, spine tingling eh? Also I liked the way Lindsey leans on her whilst playing his guitar, I think she's crying at the end when she goes to the edge of the stage and holds hands with the crowds. Awwwwwwww how sweet.

Have you seen Stevie's Red Rocks video/DVD? It's been produced kinda badly in that it's not true because of the reshoots, but it's still something to watch for sure. She interacts with the audience A LOT, that's just Miss Stevie.

The EOTW from the Mirage video is GREATNESS, you HAVE to love the boop-boop-boop's from Christine and Lindsey!! LOL They have great timing.

You've noticed Mick's "beer dude", right? He comes out to pour beer (or whatever's in that bottle. ;) ) into his mouth as he's drumming...and you've noticed the Lindsey/John smoke moment.

OMG, the lean!!! YES, that's an AWESOME moment, they both look amazing there! :D

The Mirage video, well, ANY FM video is awesome! You can't just watch them once, you might miss something.

Hi Christy

No not seen the Red Rocks Vid/DVD, would love to get hold of it, anything to do with FM or Stevie I would love to own. My collection is growing :)

Yes Mick's beer dude, how cool, what a laugh that is when Mick opens his mouth in anticipation (then goes backstage and has some oxygen) ha ha what's that all about! Still love it though.

I too love that boop boop bit with Lindsey and Christine during EOTW, I thought it WAS perfect timing and they compliment each other's singing so much, the eye contact too, POWERFUL! Ha isn't it strange how all us FM fans are inspecting similar bits on the vids/DVD'S. At least I know now that I'm no weirdo, my husband and kids think I am when I keep playing the same bits over and over again, the looks I get are amazing, they think I am totally gone, and I am watching the most AWESOME band ever!!

I got into Lindsey through the Dance. I listened to the CD in the car and had just pulled into a parking lot when the "I'm So Afraid" guitar solo was going. I didn't stop the engine, I just sat there in the car listening to the song until it ended, and I couldn't believe how awesome it was! I was also blown away by "Big Love."

Then I bought the video and saw him do "Go Insane" - just him, wihtout the Mac onstage - and I thought "I want more of this guy by himself" lol.

I guess the things I find most appealing about him are the emotional intensity he combines with musical genius to create some of the most passionate, affecting, and powerful songs I've ever heard.
