What would you say is the most romantic song on SYW? I would say either Destiny Rules or Bleed to Love her.
I just love the line in DR that goes:
The spirits are ruthless with the paths they choose...
Anyone have any favorite romantic songs from the new album?
How about FM most romantic song ever? I would say Crystal or Songbird or maybe even Sara.

"Say Goodbye"!
Why? The moment in the song where he changes it from "Now I say goodbye to you" to "I could NEVER say goodbye to you..." ahhhh...so bittersweet...if I weren't a male I might shed a tear here.

I love Destiny Rules!! I am not sure if that is the most romantic song on the CD however. Goodbye Baby I really don't think is about a man but hey I won't go there.
I really don't think of the Mac as having romantic type songs.
I guess Songbird would be a good one even though it's not my favorite song. I would have to say Silver Springs could be a good one.
I know that I would kind of like to hear Stevie write a song about getting hot and heavy with someone.
The most romantic song on SYW is Say Goodbye.
and he *does* say "I'll never say goodbye to you."
And seeing it on stage... *sniff* excuse me while I get my tissues.

I agree "Say Goodbye." I think the song SYW also is very very romantic, esp. about the kind of love that makes you become someoneelse in an instant.

I'd have to go for YMLF because everytime I hear "SWWWWEEEEEETTTTTT wonderful you" I just get happy.
See that is the thing about La Nicks and LB - for the most part, theior songs are romantic, but they are always just a little bitter. Good example, Say Goodbye - beautiful but sad and just a little bitter. Same for Sara - "build your house," "call me home," etc. That is why I think CM, Lord love her, wrote the most romantic songs. In fact, Songbird is the only one I can think of of this era of the band that has a hint of bitterness (just a hint and it is very slight to me). On the other hand, while beautiful, her "Why" is pretty bitter

I think it would be "Bleed to Love Her".
It's really sweet *swoons*
Plus, one of the best. The first time I heard it, I was like "Wow! This is really cool! And... awwww! It's just so sweet!"
I didn't see the 2nd part of the question "what is the most romantic FM song ever?"
My choice is either Crystal or Silver Springs... I can't decide.

Although Seeing lindsey play his solo's on Come and ISA, I don't keep it dry either........
Most romantic Macsong? Save me a place.

I don't really see "Say Goodbye" as being romantic. If anything, to me, it's kind of sad and reflective.
I'd say that "Bleed to Love Her" is pretty romantic.

Considering some of the choices here, I would say to your better halves: Be afraid. Be veeeery afraid. Especially Seteca. Love your choices!
SYW is short on romance altogether, but I'd have to pick Steal Your Heart Away as the most romantic and Bleed to Love Her as a second. Say Goodbye! I just don't see it. To me it's more of a coming-to-grips song.
I have to chime in on this one.
On SYW - I'd have to go with Bleed to Love Her, though Ihave to agree that there just isn't that much romanticism on that album.
The most romantic FM song ever? Well, I always thought Warm Ways totally captured a romantic mood. Mick's drums in the beginning with that sort of rumbly thing kind of set things up, and then Lindsey's guitar is SO picturesque; slow moving, "basking in the afterglo" kind of sound. And of course, the words "you made me a woman tonight" don't hurt, either. My belly flips just hearing this song. ;)
Sentimental Lady is a DEFINITE close second...oooh, chills... ;)

I agree SYW (the CD) is very short on romance. I think that is the case because LB usually is just too deliciously sarcastic a la Come or he comments of people or event a la Murrow, WTWCT, and Miranda. Similarly, Stevie usually writes about ending relationships and the will to go on or she comments on literature a la Running Through the Garden or comments on her life a la Illume or Sweet Girl. Having said that, I still stand by SYW (the song) being one of her most upbeat, happy romantic songs in years.

As much "romance" as has gone on in this group, there aren't a whole lot of strictly romantic songs from them, IMO. LOL
The most romantic person is Stevie, in a fairy tale sort of way. Danny Kirwan wrote some very romantic, sweet songs too.
Bleed to Love Her is my pick because of the fact that I'm a big believer in giving one's life for another being the utmost show of love. I know that bleeding is not dying, but it goes along with pain and suffering, so close enough. LOL
I see where Seteca is coming from by choosing Come.
Most romantic FM song EVER: Beautiful Child ("I wish that you were mine..." Sigh...)

*nods* that is an EXCELLENT choice, Christy. After seeing that live... wow, that's the one FM song that will make me cry on nearly every listen. It's a beautiful song.

For the most romantic song on 'Say You Will,' I'd have to go with "Bleed To Love Her."
The phrase "exquistely romantic" is a great description of that one.
And admit it... who wouldn't want someone to feel so strongly about us, that they'd be willing to bleed for our love?
That's a pretty intense proclaimation of love.

For me, Say Goodbye is a sad song (like Carne said:' coming to grips song'). Goodbye Baby is a mother/child love song for me, not a romantic song. But that wouldn't be the case if it weren't for the context I knew about.
Say You Will is for me the most romantic song. Lindsey's best efforts at romance are all about 'bleeding' and 'stealing', so I'll stick with Stevie's more palatable metaphor of dancing I think
:)

I understand you and Carne, it has something to do with how we- individually - describe "romantic". I consider it very vulnerable and romantic-though bittersweet, when you admit that you struggled with a breakup for more than ten years and it took so much time to realize that and find peace with it. Lindsey's heartfelt delivery and beautiful lyrics of say goodbye for me, is a very romantic way of coming to terms/grips.

Hmm, I'm indulging in semantics, but I would say that for me, Big Love is more of a 'sexy' song than a 'romantic' song , if you knwo what I mean. 'Come' is another sexy one; neither particularly 'romantic' for me, both about isolation and a sort of anxious feel to them :distress:
I guess for me a 'romantic' song is more sort of endearing and sweet, and generally comes packaged in a major key rather than minor. So I would agree with the first suggestion of Destiny Rules, cause it starts off sort of dark but picks up towards the end, getting all philosophical about destined romance :) Awww.

I would say that Goodbye Baby is a real tear jerker ("You were with me all the time I'll be with you one day"), but Say You Will is also a good choice ("That kind of touch electricity of love")
In terms of the best songs
FM Warm Ways ( A sweet sexy song)
Rumours Songbird ( A biitersweet haunting ballad)
Tusk Beautiful Child ( The lyrics are so profound)
Mirage Wish You Were Here ( A Nice CM song)
Tango Seven Wonders ( Love the idea of nothing matching the beauty of the one you love)
Behind The Mask - Skies The Limit ( Nice catchy song that proves love knows no boundries)
Time I Do (Who doesn't love somone for being what they are?)
The Dance Silver Springs (Nuff Said )
Say You Will Say You Will ( A nice song abou the kind of power love can have on a person)
Matt :)

I think Bleed to Love Her is probably most "romantic" song on the record. IF there is one.
And I dont know what you guys are hearing, but Lindsey does not say "I never said goodbye to you"....he's saying "And now I say goodbye to you"

Listen really carefully :D. It really does sound like he says "I never said goodbye to you." I didn't think so either but then I listened with a good pair of headphones. I think it still makes sense if it is that way, and it certainly adds a romantic twist ;)

Wow... I would have never taken "Say Goodbye" as a romantic song, really. It is hardly a way of expressing the good part of a love relationship - rather, it's a song to end one, to close a chapter of a person's life even though you know that other person is going to be close for awhile... for a long while.
To me the most romantic song on the album (talking about how 'good' it is to be in a relationship) has to be "Say You Will", which to me is still Stevie's attempt to write a Christine-type song. Being said that, I think Christine has the most romantic songs in the Fleetwood Mac catalogue, with numbers like "Come A Little Bit Closer", "Spare Me A Little Of Your Love" or "You Make Loving Fun" being my candidates to most romantic FM song ever.
Song of the moment - Sweet Girl

Say Gooodbye...
It breaks my heart everytime I hear it. It talks of a great love....and a parting of ways.... Very romantic to me.
