Okay, I went to the local library today and just about had a stroke. They had a two-disc version of the Tusk album, it had a sticker that said "Remastered," and it had some bonus tracks.
It was lying on the circulation desk and I asked (more like screamed) if I could take it out. I was told no because it wasn't registered in their computers yet and it had to have stuff put on it. I asked where they got it and I was told that someone donated it, along with a bunch of other CDs and books!!!!
My question is this:
WHO THE HELL DONATED IT AND HOW DID THEY GET IT?!!!!!
Wanna know the bonuses?
Sisters of the Moon live in Baton Rouge (we already have it!)
Beautiful Child alternate mix
That's All For Everyone instrumental
What do y'all think? Maybe it isn't the final version and it's just a test print?

but at the same time there is no telling.
I have seen bootlegs that look very real, Actually Too real...Hell, I have a 4 cd set of Paul McCartney music ("Rarities Collection") that looks so real I still give it a double take (The sound is "A+" quality, As in professionally prepared for a release. The artwork is professionally rendered as is the cd artwork & liner notes...There is even the "MPL" & "Capitol Records" logo on the sleeve & cd itself, But alas it is a "fake".)
If you get a chance to actually see it up close get the info (Catalog number, Registers, etc) off the cd and post it here, I am very interested, But I betcha so is everyone else!!

ps-Btw, There is an alternate mix of "Beautiful Child" on the 3rd disc of the "25 Years-The Chain" boxed set...

Well dare I say what a crappy excuse for a 2-cd re-release! I'm sure that this is not what we will be getting -next year. Thanks for the investigating though, Dissention :)

My question is, why would they need two discs for that? Are there only 3 songs on the second disc or did they spread them out evenly over both cd's.
I've pretty much had this question since it was announced these were coming out. Kind of a waste if they only put three extra songs on a cd that can hold 18 - 20, don't cha think?
I'd want to know what else this person donated:D
After seeing what other bands are doing on their re-releases of their catalogues, we're constantly being asked to buy the same thing over and over with nothing new. The Eagles new Very Best Of is re-mastered and it has at least one or a few new tracks and a seperate bonus DVD. I also believe it was priced lower than FM's VBO. How many times do you need the same old tracks. When you realize your jukebox or IPod has 6 album versions of Rhiannon and Landslide and 20 other songs, why buy the 2 new things they're trying to sell us. I'm not buying the remasters and if they put out a DVDA I'll probably wait till I get a DVDA before I buy it, if then. Let's not forget the genius in releasing TITN on DVD. You can just see Rhino/WB judging the value of future concert releases based on the sales of the TITN DVD.
Other old R&R bands are putting out old concerts and interesting things on DVD loaded with extras and stuffed full of content, and we keep getting the 12th album version of Rhiannon and GYOW.
Rolling Stones release 3 concerts, 5 hours of music AND 2 documentaries in one DVD release for $30!! They also threw in some material that was never recorded before.

Stones Defend Best Buy DVD Deal
Mick Jagger is defending the Rolling Stones' decision to sell their new DVD box set "Four Flicks" through Best Buy and no other music retailers.
"This is not like not allowing them to sell some Blockbuster movie, which is going to sell 2 million DVDs in first week, you know, a 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' or something like that," Jagger said. "I think that this is like really small potatoes compared to that."
Best Buy, which operates nearly 700 stores in the U.S. and Canada, won't say how much it paid for the exclusive selling rights. Industry sources estimated Best Buy's deal easily runs into the millions of dollars given the retailer's plans to conduct a multi-channel marketing campaign that will include in-store signage, national TV advertising, newspaper circulars, direct mail and the company's Web site.
Three big music chains in Canada announced they were pulling some of the band's merchandise and music off shelves in protest after learning of the deal. U.S. retailer TransWorld -- which operates more than 900 stores under such names as FYE, Wherehouse, Coconuts, Strawberries, Spec's and Planet Music -- joined the protest.
"I feel bad for the stores that aren't going to have the product, but they have lots of other products, to be honest, and music videos don't sell anything like movie DVDs," Jagger said.
But the band had the fans in mind all along when it made the decision, according to Jagger. The Best Buy partnership will allow them to buy the DVD set for about $30 instead of $60, he said.
Due Nov. 11, the set documents three of the band's concerts from its 2002-03 "Live Licks" tour and features more than five hours of music, including some material never recorded before. Concerts featured are from Olympia Theatre in Paris, Madison Square Garden in New York and Twickenham Stadium in London. The DVD package also includes two documentaries on the band.

the newer version of the Beatles classic "Let It Be" now re-named "Let It Be...Naked", It has been expanded to 2 full discs (The second disc is a full disc of studio session material...Not just a few songs like the Limited Edition of "Say You Will") and is being released on the 18th of this month.
Btw, I plan on buying the Rolling Stones "Four Flicks" (Shows from this past 2002-2003 World Tour) this weekend!!! (I already have a preview of it on the free promo disc I received at Best Buy when I bought the new Rush release "Rush In Rio"!!!)

That's the same question I have for the limited edition of SYW. The extra disc had two good songs (Love Minus Zero and Peacekeeper) and the two others were duds. I don't understand why everyone thinks that the second disc will be *full* of bonus tracks. It is rather ludicrous and naive to think that when, after all, the band is Fleetwood Mac. Then again, maybe this is what was going to be released earlier, but they nicks-ed it (bad pun, I know!!) in favor of other bonus tracks.
But let's not get our hopes up; we will already have the three or four bonus tracks that are going to be hocked for exorbitant amounts of money. I'll be using my $20 towards putting gas in my car and food in my mouth, not that junk.
I couldn't reserve it, though, they hadn't put the barcode or anything on it yet. As soon as it is ready, I'll be the first to have check it out!!

FM has a wealth of material from the Tusk era and tour. I am hopeful that the bonus stuff gets alot better than three tracks. And why no Chris song?

I remember seeing a disc similar to what you described, Dissention, on eBay quite a while back.
I believe the seller said it was "manufactured in Japan."
If it's the same disc, it's just a bootleg with fancy packaging to make it look official.
By the way, I'm not sure how well-staffed your library is, or how many new items they receive per day, but I'd check back tomorrow... they should have it catalogued by then.
At our library, we usually have quite a waiting list on new books and movies, so we try to catalog *everything* ASAP.

I seriously doubt this is an official release. If the remastered Tusk has only three measly alternate or live takes, I'm not buying it. I didn't buy the Very Best of and I don't have Greatest Hits. Simply not worth it for me. Now, if they add some cool stuff like the bluesy version of Beauty and the Beast, a live take of What Makes You Think You're the One and a demo of Fireflies, we're in business. Otherwise, it's simply not worth it.

the remasters will contain as many bonus tracks as does the Beatles "Let It Be...Naked" second disc which contains about 19 titles.
But thus far it remains to be seen what the FM remasters may contain...
