My random thoughts/experiences….

Les covered the actual songs and show pretty well in his review, so I’ll skip that… (Sorry I didn’t get to meet ya, Les!).

My friend Angela, who lives in Vegas, scored front row the day before the show. Jessica and I were lucky enough to get right up front w/ her. The MGM security folks were angels!! We said hello to Janine, who had front row center, and had already positioned herself directly between Stevie and Lindsey. I had my camera and was surprised to see that security didn’t give a sh*t about picture-taking, even w/ a flash! I was having so much fun singing and dancing during the show that I didn’t even begin to take pictures until about ½ way through. I stood right in front of Stevie for Beautiful Child and took a couple pics. I think I got some good Tusk hug, GDW pose, and Stand Back twirl pics also. Of course, I’ll post them after I get them developed and scanned.

We all played Lindsey’s guitar during GYOW. We all had the LB eye contact, flirty thing goin’ on, but especially Jessica! I told Angela to tell LB while he was sitting on the side of the stage during World Turning, that she wanted his towel. She did, and he threw it right AT her, like a fastball! I tried to get a pic, but it happened so fast. So, I told her to turn around with her back to the stage and hold up the towel and I took a pic of that – we were laughing about it later, she was like the bridesmaid who caught the bouquet! LOL

When Lindsey took Janine’s BN album backstage, we were all saying, “Whaaaa? Where’s he going w/ that?” I hadn’t realized that Janine asked him to get Stevie’s signature on it. What a doll he was for doing that for her! There were some women up front from Atlanta (I asked them if they knew Tracy, they said they didn’t). They had some photos they got Lindsey to sign.

Kristen was there – I walked right past her and did a double-take. I smiled at her as I walked by, but she gave me that kinda catty, snarly, head-to-toe look. I’m not trying to be nasty here, just callin’ it as I saw it….

Stevie’s mom was wearing the snakeskin pants again…I’m not sure where they were sitting during the show, but we saw her and Stevie’s dad getting into a limo afterwards. We also saw the band getting into their limos – Stevie came out with her 2 doggies running around.

And finally, y’all are gonna love this…we saw Stevie playing blackjack until the wee hours…she was at the $100 minimum/$10,000 maximum table, with security around her and a little entourage, including Taku, watching the action. She looked like she was having a blast! We were joking around, wondering how much she was betting, and imagining her saying, “I’ve made millions on this tour! Hit me!” LOL

Hey Livia! Sounds like you had a great time.:) I'm glad you got up front and getting to watch Miss Stevie play blackjack is priceless! Was she playing at the MGM? I bet she's a card shark!

Was she playing at the MGM? I bet she's a card shark!

Yep! We were hanging out in one of the casino bars and we just had to walk a few feet away, look between 2 rows of slots, and she was at a table facing us. Made me think of that quote of hers from years back, "My whole family is a bunch of pool players and gamblers," something like that!

:D

Probally her black top and black pants

I saw her walk out of the arena wearing exactly that! At the casino, I assumed she was wearing the same thing. We were trying not to stare, just appear to be casually walking by, or going, "Hmmmm, which slot machine should I play?" while stealing glances at Stevie. We could hear her laughing and once when I looked at her, she was making this big, sweeping movement with her arm, as if signaling the dealer, "NO MORE!" Only in true La Nicks fashion, a little more dramatic than the average blackjack player would do!

Hi Livia, yeah, I'm sorry I missed you too. I made my decision to go at the last minute though, so I only have myself to blame for not investigating who else was going to be there. :)

I can only comment on my experience, but I saw Kristen as well. She walked directly in front of me, clearly looking for someone in my section. As she scanned faces, she looked at me, we very briefly smiled politely to each other, nothing more, nothing less. A few seconds later she located her friends, busted into a big grin and waved and ascended the stairs to hug an older, short, dark-haired woman.

By the way, I'm a "she." ;)

See, now, don't laugh, Joe! DownOnRodeo (Joe) told me the other day that he'd always assumed I was a guy and was apologizing when he discovered otherwise. I told him not to worry because with my somewhat ambiguous posting name, it's not uncommon. Mark my words, I said, it'll happen again, so don't worry. It's not something I take offense to. So, I couldn't have asked for better timing. Hehe.

Sounds like I missed quite the gambling scene, which is a bummer! I had a fairly massive headache after the show though. I had a man sit down next to me who almost never stopped talking to me from the moment he sat down (about 5 minutes before the show), until it ended and he shook my hand and left. I did everything I could, short of just saying, "Look, please don't talk to me during the songs." In retrospect, perhaps I should have, but he was basically a nice guy, so I couldn't bring myself to do it. ;)

Aaack! My bad! Sorry!

I loved your review, I printed it out to put in my scrapbook - I'm so glad you remembered all that dialogue and stuff between songs cuz it's all foggy to me!

Livia, I was waiting for your Vegas experience story. Sounds like it was awesome and to see Ms. Nicks gamble must have been the highlight. Maybe the next time the Mac comes to Vegas I'll have to go.

Hi Livia! How cool you saw Mama Nicks having fun at the casino! I must admit, my first question was "what was she wearing?" as well!

Glad you got to see them one more time before they hit Europe - but you're going too, right?!
