First of all I'd like to thank all of you for sharing all those great concert photos with us. But I was wondering about something. In all those pictures we can see Lindsey signing autographs but is Stevie doing the same thing? Is she coming to the edge of the stage to shake hands or sign things?
Thanks!!!! Another 24 days to go for my first show in Germany!!!!

Unfortunately not. She does wave and say "thank you" to the folks in front after Goodbye Baby, though. :D

Try waving some Bengay at her, she might reach for it.
That's not an age crack so much as a comment on her apparent need to reserve all her energy for late in the show. I still don't think this is a happy time for her body.

Of course not, she's going through the change. ;) Her bones are weaker, her stamina isn't as strong, and she's going the route of Lize Minnelli with her hip. The next thing you know, she'll say she's going in for hip surgery and she'll come out with Melanie Griffith's lips and a face pulled so tightly that the whole free world will feel its backlash if it ever gives way.

But those are extreme circumstances.

With a hip problem, you can't bend over really at all... which would of course be required for the front row interaction....
At several shows she told people trying to hand her things to "give it to Lindsey" (heh heh, and wouldn't we love to ;) ).. BUT at the last show I was at, she did shake a few hands, so that was encouraging!!
my dad had his hip replaced several months ago and has pretty much been told "NO bending over, to pick something up, etc." like, anymore : / He has to use a special thing even to put socks on!

I also think that after the TISL sickness, she is scared to get germs from all of those people. Just a thought!!!!!

In Knoxville she broke one of her roses off her mic stand and gave it to a little girl in the front row..that was the coolest thing...she shook a few hands...took a gift or two or so..

I just think she is a little bit scared. This is a looonnngg tour, and there has been some weirdness (Reno) along the way.

She seems to be very careful, and I hate to say it, but- old. Time waits for no one, though Stevie still has a majority of "timelessness" about her- fer chrissakes ANY woman who looks as good as Stevie does at 55 should be ecstatic!

I kind of feel sorry for her. I think she would have preferred to do this long SYW/FM re-strengthing during the Enchanted era.

Eh, what the hell do I know...??? If she's happy, then that's alright....

What happened to her during TISL tour?

No she is nothing like she was on that tour or any of her solo tours. She would always interact with the crowd. I noticed that my first show. Like she is in the wings letting Lindsey have some of it.

I agree she was much more accessible on the TISL tour. I just think it is possible that she determined she lost her voice from a cold she got by touching 500 or so people a night and decided not to do that again. Its just a theory :wavey:

Yeah, but she's been doing it for twenty years, surely it wasn't the first time she got sick or ill from it. I just think that there is a time and place for Stevie to do that: on her solo tours. There really isn't a song like Edge of 17 that would allow her time to do it, either.

Does anyone else remember sometime before the Dance Tour, there was a piece on the NicksFix, written by a fan who won dinner with Stevie thru some kind of radio contest, or something?
I really wish I could find it again.

Anyway, I recall the fan mentioning that Stevie told them that she wouldn't be shaking hands with the audience, etc., during the tour, because she didn't want to take any chances of doing something that would in some way upset Lindsey or Christine.
She said that the upcoming tour was about Fleetwood Mac, and not her, and that she wanted it to be a happy experience for everyone in the band.

On the current tour, perhaps her hip-troubles and the menopause are contributing to it in some way, but I really think the biggest reason that Stevie isn't interacting with the audience in any major way, is that she wants Lindsey to have "equal time"... given that Lindsey hasn't toured since 1997, and Stevie has toured twice since then.
She's probably also enjoying the fact that she can step back a little, and let him work the crowd the way she typically does.

Anyway, that's just my take on it. :)

I mentioned this to dissention and I think Marissa. My feeling is, by distancing herself the way she has been now for a while, I think Stevie is preparing us all for the eventual time where she is no longer with us. By that I mean her retirement and God forbid, nothing else. I have just noticed that she is distancing herself form us on this last tour. JMHO.

I don't think this tour is anything unusual like Johnny Stew said...Stevie has always kind of been this way with the Fleetwood Mac tours..

I don't think she's trying to let us down easy for her retirement or anything..I don't think Stevie will fully retire for a long time...I'm sure she will scale down what she does to a large extent, but as long as people show interest she will do things here and there

Yes. She has always been different with the band than on her own tours. Respectful of the others.
She really is more stand offish on this one. But could be for may reasons. It is just great to be able to see her preform again. Don't you all think?

I don't think she's trying to tell us something or make a comment about the audience or her career ... I think it's just pretty plain that she feels a little .. 'subdued'?... now that it's the Power Trio and no Christine... It must feel so weird for her. Just think of all the countless shows etc she's done with Christine and now... it's just her. In terms of 'What is my role now' etcI'd imagine she's still trying to figure that out etc. As for bending down to fans I thought it was common knowledge about her hip. So I woudn't take it personally or anything.
I'm reminded of a quote from her (probably to be found on inherownwords) about how when she's on stage with FM she takes on a 'Spider' persona - more subdued etc. And the idea that she's giving Lindsey his space for recognition and fulfillment is a really nice idea. :)
As far as speculation on her future/career etc - she lives for her fans, her career, and getting her songs out there. She'll stop when she *has* to, cause I can't conceive her ever *wanting* to.

Yeah, I bet she can't wait for this tour to be over, then she'll go into hiding until her next solo album comes out, and then it'll be time to tour all over again! Whew!....to be Stevie Nicks~sigh~

I think you're right man! If Stevie were afraid of getting sick from touching people she sure as hell wouldn't be getting close to people in FM's photo shoots that she does with backstage fans or at radio station contests. She's always the one who's hugging or pressing her cheek up against someone else. One thing she's not afraid of is getting close to people. Actually I think she rather enjoys it! On the other hand there's a ****load of ego still going on in FM. That's something she would be worried about upsetting. She's doing the right thing and not hamming it up like we all know she is so capable of. I love her either way! :)

This makes me cringe a little. I don't think the intent is to say that Lindsey can't be appreciated or interact with the audience without Stevie stepping aside to "let" him, but it reads a bit that way sometimes. ;)

I do agree that historically she has toned down the gift gathering routine on FM tours vs. solo tours. But on this tour, her almost complete withdrawl from that does make me think it's more of physical problem for her. I've seen her ask people to hand gifts for her to Lindsey. If she was concerned that his ego was going to be bruised, she certainly wouldn't ask him to pick up presents for her. And in some cases, I've seen Lindsey offering to gather things from fans for her.

The clincher for me, in terms of believing it's more of a physical issue, was seeing someone throw flowers to her which she didn't quite catch. They were right at her feet. I mean, right at her feet...almost on top of her feet. She looked down but didn't bend to get them. She waited a moment to catch Lindsey's attention and asked him to get them for her, which he did. This was at the San Jose show in July, during the first leg, where she seemed to noticably have a bit more touble moving around.

I did see her accept a stuffed Penguin from someone in Bakersfield last week. That fan very smartly held the penguin up very high so that she could take it without having to bend forward much.

I'm just commenting on the fact that, historically, Stevie has gotten the most attention. Rightly or wrongly.
Even on the current tour, so many reviewers have stated, "essentially it was Nicks that the audience was there to see."

So I think she's sensitive of that fact these days, and when it comes to Fleetwood Mac, I think she does tone things down a bit to help prevent ruffled feathers.
In many ways this benefits her as well, because it takes a lot of the heat off of her.

But I'm sure her current health problems are also contributing to her lessened fan interaction in other ways... such as the inability to lean forward to accept gifts, etc.

As I've said before, several times, I'm thrilled that she and Lindsey are at a place in their relationship, where they can easily... and willingly... play up each other's strengths, and downplay each other's weaknesses. With seemingly very little ego getting in the way.

Just fifteen years ago, who would've thought that there would ever come a day when they were dealing with each other with this level of kindness and perceptivity? :)

It's a little bit of everything. Johnny and Les both have good points. Stevie's not doing the same fan interaction on the FM tour as she does on her own, out of deference to other band members. She's always been more standoffish with the band so it doesn't seem like she's trying to dominate the spotlight. I don't think she's intentionally throwing all the attention specifically to Lindsey; perhaps just a little bit.

That still doesn't explain her very withdrawn posture this tour. I think it's a physical issue, too. Bending down to get things, and to touch fans, night after night, would be harmful if she's had recent hip problems. Can you image after a 40 city tour? Now Europe and Australia...hoooeeee!

If she's different on dates she feels less pain, many fans will feel slighted if she isn't bending over at THEIR show. I'm glad to know she's taken a few things from people within her reach. Asking fans to give her gifts to Lindsey tells me she's unable to take the physical punishment to go after them, so she asks him to carry the load in that department. He gets to show off more, haha, but I also see him doing it as a favor to her.

Hopefully this is a temporary thing this tour until she gets her hip fixed. Otherwise, could this be the end of rushing the stage for EOS? God, say it isn't so!

I was, I think the only person she shook hands with in June in Nashville. I am very tall (6'4") and have 37 inch arms. So, I pretty much was at her height! In fact, people were trying to climb up on me to get to her ;) But, yes, she is not bending at all. She has, however, seemingly loosened up for the second U.S. leg so maybe she will feel better by the time the sheds happen (hopefully) this Summer.

<--- Yeah I was actually cringing a bit when I wrote that and not sure how best to word it, but what I was referring to was it's so nice to think that Stevie might think that way, ie 'it's Lindsey's time' or 'it's the Lindsey show'. I didn't want to imply that I thought he needed her to do that, but then I thought that stating that qualification would come off as unnecessarily defensive of Lindsey's position, which would defeat the purpose!

If I have said it once, I have said it a thousand times ( ), LB gives SN her "space" while she is twirling in Stand Back or doing her Rhiannon or GDW schtick. He never really "intrudes" on those focal moments for her. Likewise, she sort of steps to the side during his guitar solos in her songs as well as his. So, I think they both realize when to let the other "have" the spotlight and when it is more appropriate to share.

I was just wondering if it would be wise to take something with me for her to sign. They haven't been here for so long and I'd like to have an everlasting memory besides the 2 shows.

A recliner.... that would be cool

I don't think she will recognize me this time..... it's been 14 years since the last time we met and I changed a lot (gained a lot of weight). Maybe I'll wear a shirt:"I'm Debbie from Holland. Remember me????"
