I was listening to this concert today. Its from the Behind the Mask tour in Manchester on 8/25/90. Anyway when Stevie sings Gold Dust Woman she sings....."take your silver SPRINGS and dig your grave." I thought that was kinda interesting.

Wasn't this around the time Mick wouldn't give Stevie Silver Springs to put on Timespace? Do you think it could be a jab at Mick basicially saying "ok, take Silver Springs, but I'm leaving so now you can dig your grave because FM will be nothing without me."

Or do you just think she messed up? I don't think she did considering she hadn't done Silver Springs live since the 70s.

Pretty interesting, nonetheless.

I sensed a pissed off feeling from Stevie towards Mick around the time of TOSOTM. I wonder if their love affair ( which I believe went on for longer than Stevie has admitted) ended around this time. The BTM tour was in 1990, correct? Timespace was released in 1991 and I remember Stevie saying in an interview that they were getting ready to master when Micks' manager called and said she couldn't have SS for Timespace. Up until that time she was operating under the assumption that it was going to be on there.

That line may have had more to do with Lindsey, since he left them hanging with the TITN tour.

Wow...I haven't heard that show yet. Given the timing, I would tend to think it was not a slip. If you've seen/heard any Stevie interviews from 1991, you know how absolutely LIVID she was over that.

To be honest, all I remember from GDW in those concerts is her endless repetition of "Running in the Shhhh-sh-sh-shadows."
She did that line once at the Houston show last week & I got scared that she was bringing back this endlessly repeating line.

Also, I think that fight with Mick hadn't yet started.

She even sang it during the OSOTM tour a few times.

And I like the "running in the sh-sh-sh-sh-shadows!" I loved it when she did it during the Enchanted tour. The only version I absolutely detest is the one from the OSOTM tour; it was just BAD.

I liked it when she used to sing " someone said something about..." at the end. I love it when she does that stuff. The more I think about it, the more I think the Silver Spring line was directed at Lindsey.

....."take your silver SPRINGS and dig your grave."

 That's classic. Stevie getting her digs in.

Thanks for sharing.

I liked that too, perhaps because she didn't repeat it twenty times.

The part of GDW I really liked in the later 80's was when she would cry "oh, no no no no no no no no no, not again baby, not again!" :wavey:

I always thought it a bit odd to hear her sing it that way. But I think that theory holds water. That 1990 tour took place during the time that she was probably assembling her 1991 Best of album. Remember, she actually quit the band after that tour, partly because Mick was being an ass about giving her the rights to Silver Springs. I saw a few of those shows....and she really didn't seem happy at all...barely there.

It's ironic that Mick wouldn't allow her to have a song that the band rejected from the Rumours album. Stevie wanted to give the rights of the song to her mother. Makes perfect sense that she would tell to Mick to "Take your Silver Springs and dig your grave." I'd feel the same way.

More puzzling...wouldn't it have been more than a little incongruous for Stevie to have included that Fleetwood Mac song on TimeSpace, which was exclusively her solo hits?

I don't think it was a slip. I saw that show 6 times and 6 times she sang the same thing. I think it was directed at Mick.

I could swear at the Atlanta Dance concert when Stevie belted, and I mean BELTED "SOMEONE SAID something about gold - dust," she at first had both of her hands in the air sort of above her head and then with the elongated phrasing of the word "golddust" she brought her hands down to her nose like she was referencing coke. It was very stirring to me.

I really think we're sort of in the wrong time period here. We're talking about a concert that occurred on August 25, 1990. I don't think the brouhaha with Mick started until the time of her solo summer 1991 tour -- almost a year later.

On the 1991 BBC radio interview, she said, "When 'Timespace' came around, it didn't occur to me that they wouldn't let me have it back." She didn't start to compile "Timespace" until 1991, well after the Fleetwood Mac world tour had ended the previous December. In a summer 1991 interview for E! channel, Stevie said, "Mick & I are having an intense argument. We're not speaking. We haven't spoken since the 7th of December of last year, which was our last gig at the Forum."

There's a great lengthy summary of the whole fight -- as it was played out in the press -- in an issue of the Stevie Nicks fanzine "Mirror Mirror" by Michael Bise.

I could have sworn I have an interview or something where Stevie is talking about the Behind the Mask tour and how she was so mad at Mick that she didn't even want to finish the tour but she did anyway because she didn't want to let the fans down. I don't know maybe I'm just imagining things.

I remember her saying that she called him about the song & he wouldn't take her call, so swhe left the message that she quit the band.

IMO it's possible that the last time they really "talked" on the Mask Tour, the conversation might have already been nasty or at least icy cold.
