When does Stevie become eligible? If they count "WICYF" w/
Loggins as her solo debut, then it would be this year. Do we have to wait until 2006 for it to be 25 years since Bella Donna for her to be nominated. If she is not nominated and inducted in the first year she becomes eligible I will scream!!!! : )

PS. I hear SYW album version on Q104.3 NY coming home tonight!
I was psyched! I thought it had been forgotten!

I think dueting on one song hardly constitutes a solo career! Her identity was still very much a part of Fleetwood Mac when she made a guest appearance on that song. I would reasonably guess that Bella Donna in 1981 signifies the beginning of her solo career.

I agree that BD is the beginning, so I also wouldn't count Magnet & Steel, Gold, or Mohammed's Radio.

I pilfered this from a message board that got it from another message board. Basically this is what an AMG writer called Jeff Tamarkin wrote down as a response to a petition to get Warren Zevon into the Hall of Fame:
"This is all very noble but what most folks don't realize is that these petitions go nowhere and do nothing. You would have to send it to each and every member of the Hall of Fame's nominating committee for them to ever see it. And of course the Hall likes to keep that membership and the member' addresses a big secret. By just sending it generically to the Hall of Fame it probably ends up in the garbage. I know this for a fact because I was on the committee for two years. And even then, these petitions are regarded as a joke. As I think I've mentioned here before I once presented a petition with 5000 signatures to get the Moody Blues nominated (not because I care about them - I don't - but because 5000 people took the time to do that) and in about two seconds it was shot down by Springsteen's manager Jon Landau and his pals like Dave Marsh. There was not even a discussion about whether they deserved it (which they do). Basically the HoF nominates who it wants to nominate, based largely on personal preferences, friendships and favors, and doesn't care a whit for what the public wants."

So basically I interpret this as follows: Stevie is an artist that doesn’t fit into the scheme of the ‘70s rock critics. I don’t know if Landau, Marsh et al. have given Stevie positive reviews, but I do get the feeling that they didn’t. The Rolling Stone school of the ‘70s rock criticism only praised artists who the critics didn’t deem commercial. They wanted stuff with a political stance. Or they wanted someone who plays with rock’n’roll imagery, like Bob Dylan, Lou Reed, Tom Waits etc. They just loved punk rock, because it seemed uncommercial, rebellious and had the politics in it. I guess they don’t have anything against putting someone who’s sold records into the hall of fame, if it’s someone they like; Springsteen or Fleetwood Mac, or someone that the public likes way too much, like Pink Floyd for instance. But it seems like they really have never cared for Stevie. I think they put her in the same bag with ‘70s progressive rock artists; pretentious, artsy, insincere music.

I wouldn’t worry myself about Stevie never making it though. If the Hall of Fame is as rotten as Tamarkin says, then it just isn’t worth it. The HoF should work with both the average listeners and the critics as members; otherwise it comes off as a secret society for traumatized old men. ;)

If Pat Benetar and John Mellencamp gets in, why not Stevie? She had alot more success than they did.

What I think, though, is in the beginning of FM's induction, they had Stevie and Lindsey by themselves...I think when Fm was inducted, they were too as solo artists...sort of.

But Stevie has a good chance...but I really want ABBA in there and Im surprised they aren't yet...:)
